Jews are famous throughout history for not eating pork, as well as other foods and this has made them stand out from many of the civilisations around them. Even under persecutions, for instance under the Seleucid empire (Antiochus IV) Jews accepted martyrdom rather than eating pork in public, since they understood this action as a public renunciation of their faith. So why do the Jews not eat pork and what are the other laws, well stick around to find out!

Saying I did a video on why Christians eat pork I thought I should do one on why Jews don't. I did not really go very deep into their other food laws, but I am thinking of doing them in the future. As always thanks for watching!

Well... Actually ... the reason jews and muslims don't eat pork is because of the high rate of death by food poisoning. Pork is high in toxic bacteria, if under cooked and eaten, it can kill or make a person very unwell. That is the real reason. No other but their books didn't know of bacteria at time of writing, they knew it caused death but didn't know why.

I've had this belief for some years now. I met an ex Hasidim Rabbi once. He had left the order and the clergy. Meeting him through a mutual friend, we had a discussion once about this very subject. It was his firm belief that pork and shell fish was prohibited because of its propensity to spoil very quickly. I remember as a kid growing up in Brooklyn NY, fresh pork products always had a label in the package to cook thoroughly to prevent trichinosis. So back in antiquity, it didn't take long for Jews to realize that eating certain foods quickly made people very sick. So, a prohibition led to a tradition which eventually led to its being incorporated in their biblical texts.

Jesus never ate pork. Not once in his whole life.
Edit: Obviously no one can verify this claim. However, based on the culture in which Jesus lived in, the fact that pig bones are rarely found in the archaeology in those sites, the fact that Jesus was born a jew and most people were relatively observant during those times, I am making this assumption.

      Hi there,
First and foremost, i encourage to be a sceptic and look up things for yourself, and you will find out that the diet i will share with you is actually for your own good e.g processed meats are classified as carcinogenic to humans in Group 1, which is as bad as it can get, where as plant foods are classified as anti-cancer foods.
I do recommend to adopt (even if it means making small changes here and there) a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains as it is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it).
Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g Vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes

Plus, is not only pork what we don't eat...there is countless animals based on their physical description as listed in Leviticus ( Bible) that we must NOT eat.
e.g. duck, horse, shrimp, lobster, shark, & and many other.

      Hi there,
First and foremost, i encourage to be a sceptic and look up things for yourself, and you will find out that the diet i will share with you is actually for your own good e.g processed meats are classified as carcinogenic to humans in Group 1, which is as bad as it can get, where as plant foods are classified as anti-cancer foods.
      Best wishes
      💙💙💙

First of all. There is nowhere in the bible that states that the reason why Jews weren't allowed to eat pork is because its for health reasons. Instead biblical scholars believe that the reason why pork was prohibited was because the authors of Leviticus, who were from the Kingdom of Judah, tried to separate themselves from the Northern, Kingdom of Israel. Who were pagans and ate alot of pork. And thats why they weren't allowed to eat it. As well as economics

Islam is derived from Jewish and Christian traditions. Muslims honor Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the other Hebrew prophets, and traditionally consider the Arab people to be descendants of Abraham through Isaac’s half brother Ishmael (not the narrator of Moby Dick). They also honor Mary and Jesus, and believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus, although, like Jews, they consider him a prophet rather than a manifestation of God.
The Quran states that Jews and Christians, as people of the Book and believers in Allah, are to be protected and not persecuted, unless they fight against the community of Islam. During the time of the Islamic Empire, Jews lived as respected citizens in Islamic lands such as Spain, and fled there to escape Christian persecution.
The hatred of Jews and Christians by some Muslims is a product of the modern history of the region, with what Muslims consider to be their persecution by Christian ruled Western nations and by the State of Israel, which Muslims (and some groups of Jews also) consider an imperialist colony of the West, not the creation of Allah/Adonai or of the Messiah.
All sides of the modern conflicts deserve some share of the blame for the fanatics who use Islam as an excuse to impose power over others through terror. The US created the Taliban to fight the Soviet Union, and later created the power vacuum in Iraq and other Middle Eastern nations which allowed Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIL, and others to grow.
It seems that the only thing that will resolve these conflicts, without a miracle (and may all Jews, Christians, and Muslims of good will pray for such a miracle), is a century or two without outside interference, which is unlikely to happen as long as the Western nations are afraid of the bad Muslims bringing the conflict to their lands.

I heard that pig meat was avoided in the Middle East because these creatures were notorious carrion eaters. The soil there is hard and flinty and as a result, graves tended to be shallow. Wild pigs would dig through the graves and feast upon the bodies. Who would want to eat an animal that may have consumed a human body?

As gross as it may seem, eating human flesh would be no different than any other protein source once processed by the digestive system. Maybe not in consumption of bodies, but many animals engage in "gross" practices. The issue here is the difference between a rational decision on what is eaten and the insertion of irrational supernatural superstition to control an ignorant population.

torah says Dont eat animals "that swarm" if they swarm on the bottom of the ocean they swarm in the feces of all the other animals, gravity. says they must have fins and scales, not legs and antennaes. plus:
the jewish religious txt actually do say "Ten measures of plagues descended to the world; pigs took nine of them" *Talmud, Kiddushin 49b) but disease is the less important reason. jewish prohibition of nonkosher animals has to do with whether they have signs of being a ruminant **-split hooves and cud chewing-in all animals that have then are vegetarian and peaceful animals, that when ingested aftrr ritual slaughter (a blood ritual that releases the animal soul) u take on the qualities of the animal (u become a ruminant, think things over and are more peaceful like those split hooved animals that stand long hours chewing grass all day and dont hunt). the torah says not to eat animals w sharp claws and sharp teeth in the passage and also mentioned 3 animals: hyrinx, camel, and pig. the hyrinx and camel, torah says, chew cud but dont have fully split hooves so they have the internal sign but not external, not so bad but unkosher. the pig has split hooves, the external sign. but-** doesnt chew cud. pigs can be the most violent carnivorous animals out there, wild hogs ans boars rip people to shreds, can eat each other and literal shit. so while externally pigs *look* super kosher, internally they are far from kosher, and that 2 faces quality is symbolic and something we dont want to absorb. by the way, the torah was written thousands of yrs ago in the desert, yet, go to the galapagos or australia or the amazon, and to this day there is not one other species that has split hooves without also chewing its cud. how did desert dwellers know that? so dogs have very obvious signs like sharp teeth and sharp claws making them nonkosher, but pigs are even worse because of their so perfectly kosher feet, which is all a lie. As this youtube vid says "there are 2 qualities to keep kosher and pigs actually have one of them, the feet" no one thought to wonder about that?

Here is my view. In ancient times, there was no refrigerators or freezers of course to keep any meat from going rancid. The people didnt know as much as we do today about science, medicine, sanitation and hygiene, and food safety. They probably observed people consuming pork improperly handled, stored, prepared, or had already spoiled and got sick. This led them to conclude that the meat of the pig itself was bad, unhealthy, and dangerous.

    • @Tabaraka562
      @Tabaraka562 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Since ancient times it is said in North African customs that if people don’t eat pork it’s because only one hidden piece of that meat is spoiled. Up to the present times we don’t know which... People took it as an excuse to abstain from eating the whole pork . At least this is what I heard from early childhood... this may be interpreted in modern science by the existence of the tapeworm in its body

The dietary laws for Israel recorded in Leviticus, chapter 11, which include, for example, a prohibition against eating pork, were given for specific religious and, perhaps, health reasons.
The New Testament, however, makes it clear that observation of these Old Testament food laws for religious reasons is no longer required in the New Testament era. Jesus Himself declared that all foods were “clean” (Mark 7:17-23).

The worst meats you can eat are bacon, hamburger, lunch meat and hotdogs. Also, Sky pork raised today is not going to give you the trichina worm. Pigs are fed corn and not garbage. being so big, it cannot be eaten quickly enough, and, I believe it can become smelly very fast, just like the human body and the rat. But other animals might not become so smelly so fast, so it's acceptable to be eaten... in the olden days. This was my theory a long time ago.

Interesting. When I brought reindeer meat from my visit in Scandinavia my in-laws say all hooves animals are forbidden, which is confusing because cows have hooves... I always assumed the law for not consuming meat and milk at the same dinner was to do with hygiene that eventually became a religious taboo to reinforce it and I assumed pigs were particularly considered dirty (associated with food poisoning more than other meat) because of their nature of rolling in mud to protect their skin from sun burn. (Like hippos do)

    • @rinan4058

cow hooves are good bc they are split. pig hooves too: its their mouths that arent like the kosher cow www.chabad.org/parshah/article_cdo/aid/4002523/jewish/The-Inner-Meaning-of-Split-Hooves-and-Chewing-the-Cud.htm
torah says Dont eat animals "that swarm" if they swarm on the bottom of the ocean they swarm in the feces of all the other animals, gravity. says they must have fins and scales, not legs and antennaes. plus:
the jewish religious txt actually do say "Ten measures of plagues descended to the world; pigs took nine of them" *Talmud, Kiddushin 49b) but disease is the less important reason. jewish prohibition of nonkosher animals has to do with whether they have signs of being a ruminant **-split hooves and cud chewing-in all animals that have then are vegetarian and peaceful animals, that when ingested aftrr ritual slaughter (a blood ritual that releases the animal soul) u take on the qualities of the animal (u become a ruminant, think things over and are more peaceful like those split hooved animals that stand long hours chewing grass all day and dont hunt). the torah says not to eat animals w sharp claws and sharp teeth in the passage and also mentioned 3 animals: hyrinx, camel, and pig. the hyrinx and camel, torah says, chew cud but dont have fully split hooves so they have the internal sign but not external, not so bad but unkosher. the pig has split hooves, the external sign. but-** doesnt chew cud. pigs can be the most violent carnivorous animals out there, wild hogs ans boars rip people to shreds, can eat each other and literal shit. so while externally pigs *look* super kosher, internally they are far from kosher, and that 2 faces quality is symbolic and something we dont want to absorb. by the way, the torah was written thousands of yrs ago in the desert, yet, go to the galapagos or australia or the amazon, and to this day there is not one other species that has split hooves without also chewing its cud. how did desert dwellers know that? so dogs have very obvious signs like sharp teeth and sharp claws making them nonkosher, but pigs are even worse because of their so perfectly kosher feet, which is all a lie. As this youtube vid says "there are 2 qualities to keep kosher and pigs actually have one of them, the feet" no one thought to wonder about that?
End times prophesy in the book Isaiah also says world peace means animals (and humans) that are vegans, it says a "lamb with lie with a wolf, a lion next to a fatling, a young child will lead them all, the bear will graze next to a cow and the lion, the cattle, shall eat straw'

15 For look, the LORD comes with fire, his chariots come like a windstorm, to reveal his raging anger, his battle cry, and his flaming arrows. 16 For the LORD judges all humanity with fire and his sword; the LORD will kill many. 17 "As for those who consecrate and ritually purify themselves so they can follow their leader and worship in the sacred orchards, those who eat the flesh of pigs and other disgusting creatures, like mice - they will all be destroyed together,” says the LORD. 18 “I hate their deeds and thoughts! So I am coming to gather all the nations and ethnic groups; they will come and witness my splendor."
Jesus said He did not came to destroy the law but to fulfill it.
    Matthew 5:17-20
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill .
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

@Baabak Saghafianits science brahhh THE pig or swine is a very popular food item with most Christians. Yet Christians are unaware that the God they profess to believe in had condemned the eating of swine’s flesh. The condemnation was based on some very sound biological principles. Here are some facts on pork that prove it to be a very unhealthy food to eat:
A pig is a real garbage gut. It will eat anything including urine, excrement, dirt, decaying animal flesh, maggots, or decaying vegetables. They will even eat the cancerous growths off other pigs or animals.
The meat and fat of a pig absorbs toxins like a sponge. Their meat can be 30 times more toxic than beef or venison.
When eating beef or venison, it takes 8 to 9 hours to digest the meat so what little toxins are in the meat are slowly put into our system and can be filtered by the liver. But when pork is eaten, it takes only 4 hours to digest the meat. We thus get a much higher level of toxins within a shorter time.
Unlike other mammals, a pig does not sweat or perspire. Perspiration is a means by which toxins are removed from the body. Since a pig does not sweat, the toxins remain within its body and in the meat.
Pigs and swine are so poisonous that you can hardly kill them with strychnine or other poisons.
Farmers will often pen up pigs within a rattlesnake nest because the pigs will eat the snakes, and if bitten they will not be harmed by the venom.
When a pig is butchered, worms and insects take to its flesh sooner and faster than to other animal’s flesh. In a few days the swine flesh is full of worms.
Swine and pigs have over a dozen parasites within them, such as tapeworms, flukes, worms, and trichinae. There is no safe temperature at which pork can be cooked to ensure that all these parasites, their cysts, and eggs will be killed.
Pig meat has twice as much fat as beef. A 3 oz T bone steak contains 8.5 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork chop contains 18 grams of fat. A 3 oz beef rib has 11.1 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork spare rib has 23.2 grams of fat.
Cows have a complex digestive system, having four stomachs. It thus takes over 24 hours to digest their vegetarian diet causing its food to be purified of toxins. In contrast, the swine’s one stomach takes only about 4 hours to digest its foul diet, turning its toxic food into flesh.
The swine carries about 30 diseases which can be easily passed to humans. This is why God commanded that we are not even to touch their carcase (Leviticus 11:8).
The trichinae worm of the swine is microscopically small, and once ingested can lodge itself in our intestines, muscles, spinal cord or the brain. This results in the disease trichinosis. The symptoms are sometimes lacking, but when present they are mistaken for other diseases, such as typhoid, arthritis, rheumatism, gastritis, MS, meningitis, gall bladder trouble, or acute alcoholism.
The pig is so poisonous and filthy, that nature had to prepare him a sewer line or canal running down each leg with an outlet in the bottom of the foot. Out of this hole oozes pus and filth his body cannot pass into its system fast enough. Some of this pus gets into the meat of the pig.
There are other reasons grounded in biological facts that could be listed to show why pigs and swine should not be eaten. But a true Christian should only need one reason why not to eat this type of food because God prohibited it.
“And the swine, because it divides the hoof, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean unto you: you shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.” - Leviticus 11:7,8; Deuteronomy 14:8
Those who say Christ abolished the law condemning pork are motivated by their stomach not Scripture. The problems with pork are biological, and Christ never changed the laws of biology.
