Estinien Heavensward: A quiet and brooding tormented warrior tasked with carrying the eyes of his sworn enemy only to be engulfed by his own rage and regret becoming the beast he vowed vengeance against . A beautifully tragic character
Estinien Endwalkers: This man is about as social as a coconut, the social tack of a chocobo at a gala, and is so horrible with money he's not allowed to walk around in markets alone. His new BFF is a dragon and though he won't say he truly loves his new found family and would joyfully kill for them. He also makes dad jokes now
God tier character development right here and he only gets more endearing as he opens up
ALL of the Scions are huge goofs in their own way. It was great seeing Estinien fitting in so well.
Im just going to blame that we beat more out of him than Nidhogg when that happened.
Let's also not forget he is terrified of Krile and Tataru. A 6ft tall Azure Dragoon who stared a deranged dragon down, is terrified of two 2ft potatoes
@@MrSOAP999 Can you blame him? Between facing them and an army of Ultima weapons that are 2 seconds away from casting Ultima I would still choose the latter... Its far less costly, with even less snark.
@@MrSOAP999 That man literally jumped across the entire city of Kugane to get away from Krile and Tataru, and those two still tracked him down.
I lost it when Urianger prayed for him when he got dragged off for science 😂

Estinien in EW cracks me up because the dude really just cares about those in his boundary. but due to the misfortune of one of those friends being WoL, he is helping in saving the entire world with a group of phDs
True, Urianger, Yshtola, Alphianaud and Alisae are all very well educated. I have a feeling the player character WOL is pretty knowledgeable too, but in much less a formal higher education way and more in a "I killed enough gods and gone enough crazy places to know a thing or two" way.

@@Nehfarius Not to mention some of the Jobs, lore-wise, require quite a bit of intelligence to grasp, such as Arcanist (And it's later variants SMN/SCH).
Ah, that just made me realize that Estinien quite literally might be the least educated of the scions. Almost every single member of the scions are all archons (which might as well be PhD's in our world), leaving Tataru and Estinian as the only non archons, and the WoL is a bit iffy on their level of education. Some jobs make it seem that the WoL might be a bit of a meat head who is really good at fighting and not much else, and others seem to imply that you have to be a genius to master the jobs you play as.
Which just leaves Estinian with Tataru, and I have no clue about Tataru's education, but considering how good of an accountant and entrepreneur she is, I doubt she hasn't studied a lot.
So Estinian might literally be the least educated of all of the scions. He's basically the equivalent of the guy who went into the army immediately after high-school, and after retirement is suddenly friends with a bunch of doctors who keep talking above his head.

Estinien is still a "Ser", meaning he's pretty high status or ranking within Ishgard, not to mention his position in the Order of the Knights Dragoon, which is likely equivalent to a military officer or NCO in our world, (which is a position that requires a degree) so he probably does have some form of advanced education, and knowing Estinien's expertise on Dragons, that's probably where it's at; whereas Urianger, Y'shtola and the twins are experts in the field of aether magic and such, Thancred is also an Archon but his field was stealth/espionage. Estinien is probably more akin to the latter.
Or at least that's how i'd put it.
I like how one of the most badass warriors in Eorzea is rendered powerless by social situations.

he's a goof, but his skill, determination, and intuition still make him a badass.

Apparently he made his coin before joining the Scions by hitting those lvl90 maps and getting into the vaults, he mentioned something like it when we're walking around Radz-at-Han. Goes to show how dragon boy is a pro at doing stuff in the least efficient, most flashy way :"D
@@drih_hawkeye Well isn't the most efficient way to max crafters and wait for a new raid patch and sell the now in ultra-demand pots and gear? Estinien doesn't strike me as someone who could stand sitting and crafting
@@zeehero7280 out of context but maps are an excellent way to make money. That and ew hunt trains, if you're not a crafter gatherer, which also seems estinien's type of thing to do.

I love Estinien, he's got this natural brooding Batman-esque chrisma and presence to him, and the instance you peel back that veneer even the slightest bit, it's revealed that he's just this socially awkward doof who doesn't know anything that doesn't involve some form of jumping onto dragons.
I believe that's the description of a himbo.
And his close friend the WoL is the only one he can relate to on this trip

Estinien being dragged off for science makes me laugh every time. He could have EASILY gotten away by simply jumping, but was either panicked or concerned for their safety.
I love the transition from thancred mentioning how bad estinien is worth money to the thavnairians waking up suddenly to estinien roaming their village like "wake up, losers! We got a foreigner to scam!" xD

I'm still confused why fans act like Estinien is unemployed and homeless. He's not really different than the WoL. He's basically just a mercenary or freelancer spy
Estinien, as far as we can see, is not an omnicrafter and does not own even a chocobo. The man probably thinks a dragon's back is the best bed ever. Estinien just strikes us as the type of guy who probably lives a very nomadic lifestyle compared to the wol
@@MrSOAP999 I always viewed the WoL as a nomad as well. Doing odd jobs and missions and only sleeping at Inns. Admittedly I view Estinien as sleeping in a tree, or more likely not at all, but it's not like he owns less property than the WoL or Thancred(who equally probably sleeps on the ground since he's away on secret missions so often)

This is why I love Estinien. They'll wash dragons can be cold and brewing and try looking like absolute badasses but deep down inside we all have our dad jokes are funny side and the willingness to sacrifice our own lives to protect those we care about🤣

Of all the things, wholesome interactions between Estinien and Krile was not what I expected from Endwalker's MSQ LMAO
He knows she can find him. Hell he said it himself, Krile is a damn bloodhound when it comes to tracking down people.
I started playing FFXIV during SHB. I wanted to play DRG because my friends showed me the armor and I thought it was cooler than anything. I played DRG through all of the MSQs. Little did I know that I'd find a brother in arms with him and I've never bawled at a video game until Endwalker. If you know, you know.
