Thank you for posting this rarety; though I can't really claim that Pacific Overtures is my favourite Sondheim show, I find myself constantly drawn to it - I think the IDEA of it is among my favourites - as are many of the elements: Boris Aronson's designs, the fusions of Kabuki and Western drama, and, of course, Sondheim's subtle, rich music and artful lyrics (the intellectual reach and breadth evident lyrically in "Poems" and "Please, Hello," and "The Advantages of Floating..." is staggering...and then of course, "Someone in a Tree..."
This was one of my favorite Camera Three episodes ever.

Yeah, I'm glad they didn't have the boy appear from beneath the old man's robes...and not just because, as they say, the old man would have to stand still. This whole clip is fascinating, BTW.
