  • In this video I renovate a house listed on Zillow in the Sims 3. This is a 3 bed, 2 bath, 1,568 square feet (145.7 square meters), single-story manufactured home on a large property located on the northern coast of California which sold for $500,000 in 2022. The home is renovated for the Baker Family from the TS3 family bin.

Watching the close ups of the Sims 3 screen caps makes me appreciate the realism approach they had in that game. It is a vast contrast to the blockiness of Sims 4.

What a cool concept. I really enjoyed watching this and would love to see more sims 3 zillow renovations (if you're interested in doing more) :o)

Thank you! I just put another one up. Makes me feel like my Zillow scrolling isn't a complete waste of time even though I can't afford a house

I absolutely died when you said “Christopher Lowell”. Took me straight back to sitting in the living room while Mom folded laundry in 1998 😂! Also, I forgot how much better the entire build/buy experience was in Sims 3!

Right? Like I don't know how it would be possible but it felt like that show was on every single day.

okay so: the economy video got randomly recommended to me (i’ve never watched a single sims video in my life before) and now i swallowed up all your remodel videos. i absolutely adore the calm content, your input and eloquence, even though you might not see that.. it speaks to me in a way. with the big 70esque remodel i had to think of Blue Velvet immediately and that actually made me watch these videos, because all if them such nostalgic longing in me (for the 2000s because sims and the 70/80 in the “i was born in the wrong time period” kinda sense), i’m so down for all your videos coming and they’re so very lovely. i hope your dog is doing well and that you enjoy enough comfort on a daily basis. i enjoyed the videos throughout and i’m so happy you uploaded these little gems!! x

my sister and I are also very indecisive, but something she's done for nail polish colors when she does nails is use a random number generator and design around the result (she collects them as a hobby so she has a database to keep track of them; extra, but practical). I also find that putting the things I think I want on an online wheel and spinning it makes the decision easier because I either realize I'm disappointed by the result or had assistance picking something I like. it's not a method that works for everyone but it helps us at least move forward!

I love those methods - also, I thought you said your Sim, instead of your sister, and I was really amazed at how personable your conceptions of your sims were. 😂

This was so relaxing to watch, I loved how the guest bedroom and kid's room in the main house turned out, really has that old-timey comfort feeling you were aiming for. It's really nostalgic

I haven't watched a Sims build video in ten years but I absolutely loved this. The concept is great and I like that you're trying to style the homes in a realistic but still pleasing way, and necessarily just trying to make everything "modern" (which most people seem to think means black, white and a million windows)

You are SUCH a great builder and I enjoy hearing your thought process, like mentioning the green paint can. Inspiring!!

This is great! You have such an eye and heart for thoughtful details. When I was still playing Sims 2 more, the whole fancy, wealthy fantasy places became so unappealing to design. The home you've created here is so rich :) I use that colour website for my illustrations sometimes too!

Thank you! When I played the game as a kid, I was all about the mansions. My fantasies are a little smaller now. Just owning a home that I could fill with silly junk and make regrettable paint color decisions in would be a dream

I LOVE that you are doing Sims3 content. I got fed up w/ 4 about 6 months ago and went back to playing 3, and I've been having so much fun. My only complaint is that NRAAS/Kinky World are not as easy to use/functional as MCC/Whicked Whims.

Lol this is a cool idea actually, nicely done too. Interesting anecdote, the one about your dad's fish garage lmfaooooo.
If you need more ideas i think something cool that maybe city dwellers/europeans would like is doing whatever you can with the apartments in the City Nightlife (?) expansion.

I love your videos! I forget how much you are able to customize with the color wheel in sims 3 🥲 my dad also has a fish room, in his basement, and he has cichlids, also mouth brooding fish! I will continue watching your content!!!

Wonderfully done. Love it. :) I absolutely get that eclectic "grandma's house" vibe from the final product!
IMHO... you're waaay too hard on yourself! (Which is something I can totally relate to.) So maybe you take a little while to make a low-stakes decision when a large menu of options is in front of you. That's not exactly uncommon. And is it even really such a bad thing? Would you rather be impulsive, making rash decisions, and regretting them later or feeling unsatisfied with what you've created? In my experience, the world loves to throw around the label "perfectionist" like it's a bad thing... and then it ironically turns around and absolutely gobbles up all the high-quality things "perfectionists" tend to create.
On a related note: I for one am positively befuddled as to how you can say you don't have "actual design skill". Just look at the amazing finished result! I'm hoping you don't _actually_ believe that, and are just being modest. ;) It's a particular mark of acute aesthetic awareness to be able to extend beyond what you yourself would be into, and faithfully recreate a certain style or feel, without trying to impose your own normative considerations over it.
Re: the color palette in the master bedroom, I actually don't really think it's as bad as all that. Just a thought, might be neat to shift the hue of the light green a bit, into something like a warmer light goldenrod shade. "Spiceberry" is such a bold color, and the wood of the floor texture is particularly saturated for brown, leaning into orange... together these features kinda feel to me like they ask for an analogous or side-complementary palette vs. a triadic or split-complementary (i.e. berry/moss/umber) palette. I do really like the choice of carpet for under the bed. It suggests a way you could add cool tones to the room in darker navy or forest tones.

My tip for help in making decisions is if you can narrow it down to 2 options, randomly assign a letter to each choice and then ask someone else, "A or B?" When they pick one, I often have an immediate, "No, I don't want that", and then I go with the other. Or if I don't have that feeling, then I go with what they choose.
By giving the two things random letters, you won't hurt their feelings if you don't go with the one the other person picked b/c they don't know which is which.

It's nice to listen to you explain your thoughts behind the designs and relate your life experiences. You have a very pleasant voice, and I can tell this is how you unwind sometimes. Hoping you'll do some more soon! 😊
