This might get lost in the comments, but my father is Steve Allison-Bunnell, aka WileE , and I was 8 years old when V 1.5 was in development. I remember the long nights he pulled, debugging, re-writing, and tinkering with things I had no comprehension of as a kid. Growing up in Montana, with Yellow Stone being a regular spot to visit over winter and summer break, Slough creek and the Lamar valley are places I know and love from an expedition that I was lucky enough to be a part of, led by biologist and wolf expert Jim Halfpenny, as part of the research for the later iterations of wolf quest. Even years later now, I am impressed and heartened by the community that this game has supported. Thank you to to Dave and Grant and everybody else, and most importantly, thank you dad, for the game that so many love to this day.
Ever since I saw Seri Pixel Biologist play WolfQuest as a kid, I was obsessed! I finally played the game when I was around 10-11, and enjoyed every minute! I followed the development of the game and eventually followed WolfQuest AE, and I bought early access as soon as I could! And now, I'm nearing adulthood and still play to this day! I've made so many friends, memories, and experiences throughout my time as a player. Thank you for all your hard work WolfQuest team! Much love!❤❤❤ Edit: Woah where did all of yall come from? Hello fellow Seri fans!
I remember when her first wolf quest episode came out! Downloaded it shortly after and played it constantly, cried way too much and never beat the game. (All my pups drowned at the final river crossing every time)
Bro I love seri pixel biologyst. Her series is so nostalgic! I used to watch it all the time when I was little, I re-watch it occasionally, it's still good!
Man, I remember this game being paired up with other animal rp games like Feral Heart, Dragon's Den, Animal Jam, all those kinda games. The good thing about WQ is that while all those other games fell from grace, WQ came back and better than ever!
Feral heart killed themselves early on when they would have registration open at random times which you would never know when… it took me over a year to register. They tried to save themselves later by opening it up for everyone but at that point the community was already diminishing rapidly
I joined during the Dark Ages. I remember snooping around the forums for years and spending hours upon hours playing the game. I joined the forums when 2.7 was being developed and while I never really interacted with anyone, I was in awe of how amazing the community was. Been following and playing ever since and WQ is still one of my top games. It’s always one of the top 3 things I install first on any computer I get, haha! When the mobile version was released for Android, I remember downloading it right before my trip to Montana and played it at every moment I could. It was absolutely amazing to compare Amethyst Mountain to the landscapes of Montana. It felt so close to reality! It was so amazing. I will never forget those moments.
I love this game so much. It was Seri Pixel Biologist who introduced the game years ago, and I bought it right away, and never looked back. Great job, WolfQuest Team.
The journey of wolf quest as a game and community really grew up with me. It makes me so happy seeing Wolf Quest AU edition and how far this game has gone, almost makes me shed a tear even
Yep, I've been with WQ from the very beginning too. I'm in my 30s now and owe so much to the game...it's basically fostered my love for the environment and my eventual career in the environmental field
I geniunely cried a bit when Seri's playthrough started playing, it brought back all those years i spent watching her lets plays that originally got me into the world of animal loving and Wolf Quest
I remember accidentally finding WolfQuest when I was in elementary school back in 2008/2009 and falling in love with it. It’s so amazing to see how far the game’s come since then and being able to play as an adult has made me appreciate it so much more
Oh my gosh, this hit me in the face with hard core nostalgia and I couldn't stop smiling. I joined Wolf Quest when I was about thirteen, fourteen years old, and it was just before 2.5 released with weather, followed by the game slowly dying without funding. To see it on Steam years later excited me to find out they got money to continue the game once more and being around when they realized they had to recode the game to make Wolf Quest 3/Anniversary edition was so much fun. Being there to see the game become modernized, originally in preparation for Tower Fall when the game did episodes, instead of the upcoming saga. The howling and music at the end just put a stupid grin on my face as I remember hearing that ALL. THE. TIME, as the ending to the original. (I also remember the eagle sliding across the ground, and my pup flying into the air.) I'm so happy Wolf Quest didn't die before it could tell its story. It's hands down one of my favorite games I have ever followed the development for and loved playing. It's solely because of this game that I learned so much about wolves and found a love for them, being more a feline person myself.
I remember when WQ “ended” mann. Whenever I was bored, even if it was years later, I would look up wolfquest again and check the forum for updates. When it costed money at first I couldn’t afford it since I was a kid and didn’t like asking my parents to buy me things. Now as an adult I adore anniversary edition from the bottom of my heart ❤
One thing that I can't fathom is that the WolfQuest project will turn 20 in only 4 years. To think I've been playing the game since 2011, when I was a little kid in 4th grade.
it's crazy to watch this back. ive been playing wq for the better part of my life and i remember sitting there waiting for each new release of wq 2.7, this video makes me so happy yet so sad at the same time
I've been knocking around in the WQ community since 2008 though I've not been one to post prior to the last few years. Let me say that you have a great community that has grown up around your game. I also have long appreciated the dev vlogs and effort the team clearly puts in. Wolf Quest has been a beloved project from the start and it has certainly stood the test of time. Thank you for revitalizing Wolf Quest! 🐺 I hope you do get to finnish your dream for this game. I look forward to seeing it in whatever time it comes. Quality is important 👌 👏 🙌 ✨️
I'm only 13, but I've been playing ever since the release of the mobile version if wolfquest came out. I remember killing the herds of elk in the hunting spots and just running around exploring for the first time. As soon as I heard that anniversary edition came out I begged my dad to let me use his laptop (that was a gaming one but he didn't realize that till after he bought it) so I could play.
Gosh I remember those days. For me it was early 2008. I am so glad I got to be a part of the community, back then and now. I still remember the absolutely chaos of a hype on the forums in the days leading up to the release of WQ Slough Creek.
Been here since the beginning of the game and I'm so proud of how far they've come from the very first game to THIS. It's absolutely gorgeous and so many details to the game. I'm forever in love with Wolf Quest
I've been playing this game since I was in the fourth grade, about ten years now. It's something I enjoyed so much, I think I played it more than any other downloadable computer game I had. I lost access for it for a while, but I'm so so glad I've been able to purchase it and its successor and relive my love for the game again. I can't wait for all the exciting new things being added to Anniversary Edition, and hopefully many more year of love and enjoyment to come!
As someone who’s been here since Slough Creek, this is so amazing to watch! I found WolfQuest through Seri Pixel Biologist, and it holds a special place in my heart. Also, that Seri clip made me cry, it’s been so long since I’ve watched a video of her playing the OG game!! ❤❤
I played 2.7 and was made to delete it as a 7 year old. I saw someone play it and loved animal games, i was alwqys looking for them. When I became 10-11, I discovered SeriThePixelBiologists channel and began playing the Aniversarry edition. It was amazing seeing how much the game had changed, I remember finding her video and be like; "I played this years ago.. and now it looks like this? *wide mouth*" The game really is amazing and im so happy you didnt dump it, and i am excited to see the finished product!
I think it was Seripixelbiologist who introduced me to the game, and I've been obsessed since, its kind funny to remember how much I played 2.7 despite having a smaller amount of content to play than anniversary edition, i actually still play it today.
I'm pretty sure I played this when I was a kid at a science museum back in 2008-2009, and ever since, I have been a die-hard WolfQuest fan. I've never come back to a game so many times over the years. Thank you for the hard work and dedication you have all put into this game, WolfQuest Dev Team. I'm excited to play this with my son when he's old enough to.
My favorite slough creek hack would be to choose the saddle meadows den, and hunt loads of elk before having the puppies. They wouldn’t despawn between seasons so you could just have a constant food supply right below your den.
Been supporting since like 2012. Found it randomly when looking up animal games on youtube. Theres an almost completely untapped market of good animal games, and wolfquest finds its niche. It's realism strikes people but the thing I love the most is that they actually have AI for npcs, everyother animal game now adays is just a pvp battle royale bloodbath.
When i was back in grade school, i played wolfquest on my friends tablet, i couldnt do anything but hunt but it was absolutely mind blowing. I recently got my own computer to play it after watching hours and hours of seri play the game and watching videos on the development, im so proud its come this far!
WolfQuest was the first game I ever played on the computer-of which I thank you GREATLY for making it compatible with Macs, because that’s the only computer my family had at the time. I played from age 9 until maybe 12, a while after Slough Creek… But your reappearance in my YT feed made me remember how exciting and adventurous the game made me feel. I rebought it on Steam recently and it’s even more amazing than I remembered… Thank you for this nostalgic video and for bringing back those wonderful memories with the new version of WQ. I’m so excited for the release of saga, keep up the amazing work!!
Mann, wolfquest has been part of my life for ages. I've grown up with the game and the community, and it makes me so happy to be able to see how far this game has gone! It really set my path of games. Im in Uni now studying game art, 10 years down the line at least lol.
Seven years later... This brings me so much joy to see, learning the story of the game I love and seeing the usernames and faces of friends. I'm so proud of wolfquest, and the people that have made it what it is today. To many more years to come!!
WolfQuest has been a special game for me through so much of my life! Finding it through TH-cam videos back in like 2010, playing the game and being terrified of bears 🤣 exploring the new weather and animations in 2.5, taking a day off school just to play 2.7 when it came out (and you bet I played it ALL day!). The revival was so exciting and I remember following every devblog waiting for AE, even though I didn't have a good enough laptop at the time I always followed the game news, and when I was finally able to play it felt just as special as it did when I was a child making great memories and living out my wolf dreams 🐺💚
I found this game when it first came out, I was 17. I've been following along and playing ever since! And watching this journey has been so great. I can relate to it in a whole new way, now. I'm working on a canine-themed card game project which has been in the works since late 2018. It always takes longer than you think!
I have played since I got a phone, I met my very best friend through a multi-player game. We've been hanging out and talking and playing together since we were about 12. We'd have never met had we not both found and played the game. ❤ Thank you so much for this beautiful game.
I started playing soon after I first saw Seri so around 10 years now and I love this and seeing how much it has progressed. Great job devs can’t wait to see what happens next and so excited for the saga!!
I remember I was 9 when I played the first episodes still in developement. Now I'm an office worker. It passed some time and I grew really attached to this game.
Abraços do Brasil WolfQuest!!!! 🇧🇷 Eu comecei na versão 2.5 do WolfQuest. E nunca o abandonei desde então. Fiquei extremamente feliz, com a versão Anniversary Edition! E sinto que o público Brasileiro cresceu nos últimos tempos. Espero que o WolfQuest continue conquistanto o mundo. Assim como me conquistou 💛💛💛
I met my best friend of probably over 7 years now on wolfquest as a kid, we still talk all the time to this day and I literally can't imagine my life without her lol this game seriously has the best community and it will always be a staple of my childhood :)
I first started playing in 2013, it was a huge part of my childhood and i'm so glad to see the game still up running and evolving, it has so much potential! Literally no game like this one out there, can't want for chapter 3!
Wolf quest has been apart of my life for 7 years. I remember I loved watching Seris videos of WQ and falling in love with it and I bagged my mom so much to let me get the game and finally she did. I was so excited an do remember logins my pups so much. I Still play 2.7 since it was childhood.
I have tons of memories from old school WQ, especially multiplayer, so many warrior cats roleplays lmao. I was in one of the biggest ones at one point. I remember chasing prey to the den because you couldn't move the pups and you couldn't pick anything up lmao.
The clips of the old game made me so nostalgic, and I think I gasped when I heard Seri’s voice. This game has been a light in my life (and a hole in my wallet) for so many years now and I wouldn’t have it any other way
When he started playing the bear attack music I got goose bumps. It’s so crazy, I grew up playing this game with my sister!! I still play wolfquest AE I still can’t believe how far they’ve came. It’s awesome!
This is such a great way for players to learn how the game was developed. Thank you for sharing this story (ps: love the nod to youtubers like Jay and Seri)
I honestly love these little documentary stuff about Wolf Quest! I didn't even know the game was government funded at the beginning with grants, but I'm so proud to see how far it's gotten since the beginning and I'm excited to see what's to come!
I discovered WQ back in 2013, I was much, much younger then, and oh my god it had be INVESTED. The music, the gameplay, everything! I loved the classic, and i love anniversary even more. Hell, i love even the developers! It helped me learn about wolves and their dynamics, just, everything. I waited and waited since my mom never wanted to spend money on games, so i waited, got a job, and then went to town splurging my money on everything, buying all the DLC’s etc, never regretted a thing. I usually am pretty greedy with my money, but thanks to the devs and their transparent development, i decided it was worth every. Single. Penny. Just know that while the game is great, yes, you guys as the devs are the ones keeping it alive, you are so wholesome, and unfortunately it is difficult to find any good game with a good set of devs, just thank you guys, you made my childhood and i’ll keep on supporting until I’m able to.
I remember getting my first tablet as a kid, and stumbling across wolfquest 2.7 while looking for games to download. Ever since that day I've been following the journey of the game, I remember all of the many anniversary edition dev blogs, I remember being so excited when the game finally released for the very first time.
Aww! What a blast from the past! I've been playing since 2014 (10 years already, holy moly!) since I was 13, and I've just loved every second of the journey. Y'all are the best dev team out there, I'm convinced.
Really have loved playing and watching the game progress through out the years, always loved wolves and this game has brought a new perspective towards them for me and I had learned so much just from playing this game alone. It's such a beautiful, realistic and wonderful game that I can enjoy and have fun playing with my friends, I will always be a fan of this game and it will always be one of my top favorite games❤
Was a volunteer at the Minnesota Zoo back when the game was still in development. Even went to the game’s launch party. Love seeing how successful it ended up becoming. Still have my official wolfquest t-shirt i regularly wear to bed 😊
THEY DIDN'T TALK ABOUT THE BUGS AAAAAH -the infinite experience bug -the bug of marking the territory in 20 seconds -the bug of drowning all puppies to have them the same color as their parents later And much more that I don't even remember! But seriously now this game is so important to me, it was the only game I played for hours and hours and it helped me through one of the most difficult stages of my life and I still play it to this day! This game is almost like family to me and it's one of the most comforting things I have in my life.
Remembering the first slough creek is so nostalgic xD You guys really made that level SO difficult, I considered it a success as a kid if I had one pup barely surviving to the end hahaha. Literally no hope for the others. And the instant death rivers you were required to cross through the entire map while an eagle was chasing you and waiting for you to drop a pup!? It was so much fun though!!
WOW! I'm loving these videos. This was great! WolfQuest is such a nostalgic game for me as well, I remember /begging/ my parents to help me download the files because I couldn't figure it out haha. They were skeptical about viruses and things but eventually agreed, and it was soooo fun as a kid. And even now! I am so hyped for the next episode
I had no idea this game had such amazing history. It beats any other game I've ever seen. A game without greedy developers who clearly put the money, effort, and everything into making this game, it's a seriously rare thing.
This was a great video and I loved seeing the older versions of WQ! I remember playing amethyst mountain when I was around fourteen or so and being amazed! I really loved it, and now seeing how far it's come and how I've been able to see its progress was mind-blowing. Especially because I played the older version a lot but stopped for about three years when I found out that the new anniversary edition came out. Ever since then I've been addicted and play it all the time. I love this game and the people working on it. You guys are a fantastic team and are always open to ideas and new things we players want, but also how real the game feels. I'm so glad I've been able to grow up with this game. I found it when I was thirteen or fourteen and I'm about to turn twenty in just two months! Thank you WolfQuest team for making such an awe-inspiring game.
Throughout the years I've been playing Wolfquest the only person I can thank is Seri pixel biologist for making me love this game, I can't wait for the saga it's already looking great I hope this goes on for a long time, anyways all thanks to Seri love her.
I’m so proud of how far this game has come! I’ve watched the progress of the game since around 2020 and finally got the game in 2022, and it has been such a pleasure being in this amazing community! Also let’s hope it won’t take like 5 years for another chapter
As soon as im stable within a career and this new hobby ive picked up id love to start funding the game whenever i can, it may be some time but to me its worth the future investment. Wolfquest is my childhood and allways will be!
"oh no... _trees."_ 😭😂 the absolute terror in tommi's voice is so funny
That line is funny but relatable bc have you ever seen trees that look just the same? But TREES? 🤣

I’ve been playing wolf quest since I was 10 and from day 1 I’ve been obsessed! Man seeing the old version of the game brought back so much nostalgia
I love this! Im one of the og's played since before wolf quest 2! I have always loved it, its one of my childhood games!
Eu comecei na versão 2.5 do WolfQuest. E nunca o abandonei desde então. Fiquei extremamente feliz, com a versão Anniversary Edition!
I met my best friend of probably over 7 years now on wolfquest as a kid, we still talk all the time to this day and I literally can't imagine my life without her lol
this game seriously has the best community and it will always be a staple of my childhood :)
I love WolfQuest so much. I'm growing up and it's growing up with me. This game is truly amazing and definitely my favorite game ever.
I have tons of memories from old school WQ, especially multiplayer, so many warrior cats roleplays lmao. I was in one of the biggest ones at one point. I remember chasing prey to the den because you couldn't move the pups and you couldn't pick anything up lmao.
Nice! Part two!
I played WolfQuest when it first came out as a young kid. So fun to watch it grow!
My older sister and I both played this game when it initially came out and years later it’s still a game we can bond over ❤
I honestly love these little documentary stuff about Wolf Quest! I didn't even know the game was government funded at the beginning with grants, but I'm so proud to see how far it's gotten since the beginning and I'm excited to see what's to come!
It's so nice to see this game grow since I started playing as a kid in 2009.
So amazing to see all the memories and how much the game has progressed through the years and is still releasing more updates to make it feel so real
5:59 i remember the fear of hearing this music
Marking the territory by pressing the P key was an absolutely genius idea.
I remember first finding wolf quest during the peak of my Wolf obsession phase- around 2015 or 2016. Im happy to see how far this game has come!
Wolf quest was my childhood, possibly even the first game I've ever played
I've been playing Wolf Quest since 2016. It has been my most played game, and my longest played game
Seeing the one guy say the "ima go play Meadow" brought back some old memories. I remember sinking hours into both WQ and Meadow lol
Was a volunteer at the Minnesota Zoo back when the game was still in development. Even went to the game’s launch party. Love seeing how successful it ended up becoming. Still have my official wolfquest t-shirt i regularly wear to bed 😊
THEY DIDN'T TALK ABOUT THE BUGS AAAAAH
-the infinite experience bug
-the bug of marking the territory in 20 seconds
-the bug of drowning all puppies to have them the same color as their parents later
And much more that I don't even remember!
❤honesty the p key was really funny to me🎉can’t wait to see more!!!!
OMG I want that New York City Map!!!! Perfect for Storytime! Ahh!
Finally a second part!! And focused on the era where I got into the game, the pre-2.7 "dark ages"!
I started playing in 2017 and it’s so cool seeing what was going on before then, I feel like I understand a lot more now!
Thank you WolfQuest devs for bringing this wolf game to life.
Seri is the main reason that I discovered this game and I love it so much 😭❤️
As soon as im stable within a career and this new hobby ive picked up id love to start funding the game whenever i can, it may be some time but to me its worth the future investment. Wolfquest is my childhood and allways will be!
