It's really funny how I stumbled upon it; one of my parents knew about my fascination with anime and picked it up for seven dollars in a movie clearance section in some store - can't remember which now but I remember looking at it like 'what the heck is this--' the art style was so bizarre. 11 years ago, every time I heard this song, I remembered the girl I had a crush on. Gosh, she was so beautiful and sweet. Wasn't into me, though. Sad but true.
What's the meaning of this song? I tried looking at the translated lyrics, but the only conclusion I could come to is that it's a love song. The narrator seems to have grown weary/bored of life, but then meets another person that could beautify the narrator's life. The crow in a cage & jellyfishes in an aquarium seem to support this as well, both being symbolisms of a trapped person in a big world (hence why the cage sits in the middle of a road and the aquarium on a table overlooking the city). But then, the bird cage got set on fire and the aquarium got blown to pieces. Can someone who understands Japanese tell me the meaning of this song?

Kyyaaahhh...!!! -INSERT HYPER EXCITED NOISES- I cannot believe that I found this band by pure coincidence! I had gotten off work and decided to stop by Vintage Stock to browse for some anime movies and found Tekkonkinkreet. I had no idea what it was and I liked the art style and decided to buy it out of curiosity. I enjoyed the movie very much and when the ending song came on, I fell in love. yeah! this MV is very cool. and i dont know what is the reason, in comparison to other ajikan's MV or maybe even any other MV, this one is more powerful, in a way it tell story and bring the music together and simply mesmerizing.
Angelo Cipollaro I don't see how using chords and double stops makes it an "emo structure". Granted, a lot of emo bands from the 2000s used that note playing frequently, it doesn't make it emo. A lot of indie/alternative rock bands were very chord based as well.
"Emo" is interchangeable with "Math rock" as far as guitar chords are concerned. It's not a derogatory thing. "Emo" originally meant emotional hardcore. Mainstream 2000's gave it a negative connotation. That being said, emo music of that time period was pretty dope too. I get what you mean man, some of their playing is so simple yet sounds so amazing.
The only song I heard first because of media was Rewrite, because of FMA. Since then, I've always searched for their music, and some songs sent me on quests for movies or animes... or I just casually found a song I already knew in something I was watching just because (like Haruka Kanata in Naruto). I love them for them, their music and stories, and that adds on to whatever I'm watching, not the other way around.
2020, when Covidiot attack this world, I feel better when listen to this song again. This song gives me vibes how nostalgic I am when I still in high school in 2008 also gives me some energy to live. Thanks AKG for your song. Aru Machi no Gonjou one of my favorite songs from their works.

Kyyaaahhh...!!! -INSERT HYPER EXCITED NOISES- I cannot believe that I found this band by pure coincidence! I had gotten off work and decided to stop by Vintage Stock to browse for some anime movies and found Tekkonkinkreet. I had no idea what it was and I liked the art style and decided to buy it out of curiosity. I enjoyed the movie very much and when the ending song came on, I fell in love. They are such an amazing band and it's a shame that I just now found them. I cannot stop listening to their songs. -hyperventilates-

yeah! this MV is very cool. and i dont know what is the reason, in comparison to other ajikan's MV or maybe even any other MV, this one is more powerful, in a way it tell story and bring the music together and simply mesmerizing.

They have such emo chord structures, I forget they're playing power chords sometimes
Angelo Cipollaro I don't see how using chords and double stops makes it an "emo structure". Granted, a lot of emo bands from the 2000s used that note playing frequently, it doesn't make it emo. A lot of indie/alternative rock bands were very chord based as well.
I think I meant that the layering with the lead guitar made it seem more like emo lol
"Emo" is interchangeable with "Math rock" as far as guitar chords are concerned. It's not a derogatory thing. "Emo" originally meant emotional hardcore. Mainstream 2000's gave it a negative connotation. That being said, emo music of that time period was pretty dope too. I get what you mean man, some of their playing is so simple yet sounds so amazing.

I love this song and I didn’t even know it was from a movie at first lol
The only song I heard first because of media was Rewrite, because of FMA. Since then, I've always searched for their music, and some songs sent me on quests for movies or animes... or I just casually found a song I already knew in something I was watching just because (like Haruka Kanata in Naruto). I love them for them, their music and stories, and that adds on to whatever I'm watching, not the other way around.
