Also new to some of this but with the signal generator would i be able to test sensor circuits by generating a squarewave back to say an ecu or something of the sort to rule out a sensor circuit and look toward sensor as a fault
Great questions. I have used it actually to look to see if CAN was talking and I found the signals were messed up so I was able to fix the problem. However - it does not decode the signal to tell you the HEX info.
So I got burned on my last oscilloscope that I purchased. I can’t calibrate the multimeter nor the scope. If I buy this one can I calibrate this manually?
Display and measurement seems really nice and quick for everyday hobbyist use, sure precision is a bit off but then again. Price performance and package, it's kinda hard to beat. Would maybe have preferred a bit higher voltage on the signal generator.
Man, I have Flukes, Hioki, OWON, DreamSource Labs scopes etc. This device takes care of most basic everyday functions, very rare would I need the speed and precision of more expensive instruments. What really sets these cheaper stuff apart is safety.....
And in addition to that safety thing, very often poor or non existing support, i.e. bug fixes, firmware updates, software updates etc. Triggering problems at higher frq or low level signal, DC level drifting, shorter than expected battery operation time etc. Usually, if something seems to be too good to be true...
Thanks so much! Which Owon model do you have? BTW did you see this video I just posted on Automotive Oscilloscopes? th-cam.com/video/XFymCNXilHc/w-d-xo.html
SGS by the way is a third party testing and verification supplier. Have had some stuff tested there, think they are represented worldwide not just Scandinavia / Europe.
FWIW, it is great that you do not accept from companies requiring to review your videos but the moment you put your affiliate links to a product review it is almost impossible to be completely un-biased.
Funny people want content for free and want content creators to be poor - but somehow afford to buy all the equipment that people are interested in to see reviews...I don't get that... No one is unbiased. If I bought this - I would do it because I was biased towards it. The point is - do I show functionality and usability that someone would be interested in? Doesn't matter my bias - this product is shown in video for all to see and make their own opinion. Also, there are those that noted if I didn't put the link - because I used to forget as I was so done by the time I got finished editing. So I put the link to help everyone - it doesn't cost anyone anymore - and it is a free way to support the channel - that hopefully added some value.
I don't trust the battery rating. Also... that looks like a LiPo battery. Not sure I trust that battery... in the long run either.... in the sense it may swell (they do)... and get punctured. When that happens LiPo sometimes starts to burn. I realize, that kind of Li battery is used in a lot of devices. But, I wonder if the battery has been robustly certified. Just when the house is paid for... don't want it burning down.
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, LiPo type batteries are not as safe as the LiFePo4 batteries, but they are used in our phones, laptops, and most e-cars. I don't like to leave batteries charging by themselves - and that's when many of them fail. My laptop batteries start to swell after a few years, so It is probably a good idea to open this every couple of years - if used a lot.
All true, but given I have a house chock full of Bluetooth speakers, phones, tablets, laptops, and portable test gear, what's one more questionable battery? Lol
Hi eddie, nice content as ussual. Keep safe and God bless. BTW, i hope you can find time checking up your email, coz iv'e been waiting for your reply. Hope we cam arrange that this december. That will be an awesome christmas gift. Thank you in advance.
Thanks for that - but I think they do that so they can't be copied. That is an old tactic that has been used for a long time. If the pirated them - wouldn't they want to brag about what they are supposed to be;)
16:01 . . . I am a little disappointed with the lack of awareness that the probes add the addition amount above 10 ohms there . . . you measured the probes earlier on the video
Yes, I could have hit the relative to zero this out - but it is fairly common to for probes to add a little resistance, so at 10 ohms this one was reading 10.3 ohms. If you want more accuracy then you would wan to hit the relative button. Experimenting and understanding how to get good measurements is just part of getting the accuracy when you need it.
sooo . . . is it just that you clowns don't know how to use oscilloscopes or that you don't want to show it doing any actual measurments on something like a vitage stereo amplifier??? . . . you clowns are just blabbering on
LOL - we can't show everything someone would come up with - as I already made this a fairly long video. But to your point - this clown (funny how people talk big behind a keyboard;) will show how to take measurements in videos to come. I'm sure you haven't seen my videos where I show how to use an oscilloscope, or you would know this clown knows his way around an oscilloscope. Here's one - watch it a couple of times and you will catch on...
Amazing that an inexpensive, pocket size device, can provide the functionality of your three necessary home lab instruments. Nice case as well.
Thanks! I was really impressed with the functionality for the price, and the case is a plus for portability.
Been meaning to get a scope to start with now my understanding is good enough. Nice video as always.
Thanks - I appreciate you!
Nice honest review.
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate you!
HI Eddie, thank you for this informative video. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I am great full for your amazing videos. 🙏😊
Thanks so much! I had a great time with family - and had a lot of tasty food;)
Great informative video! Thanks
I appreciate you watching and your feedback!
I got their solder station on your recommendation, so far I like it! If I didn't already have a 100Mhz Owen HDS2102S, I might have gone for this!
Thanks for letting us know;) I appreciate you!
Nice stuff. its amazing have these 3 in one today. Makes simple to start a cheaper lab. Its the way to go.
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I will have to compare the 3 in ones that I have. For the price - they are amazing!
Also new to some of this but with the signal generator would i be able to test sensor circuits by generating a squarewave back to say an ecu or something of the sort to rule out a sensor circuit and look toward sensor as a fault
Would something like this work well to check CAN networks or to do minor sensor testing pwm square wave?
Great questions. I have used it actually to look to see if CAN was talking and I found the signals were messed up so I was able to fix the problem. However - it does not decode the signal to tell you the HEX info.
Thanks for the video, on the sig gen can you change the duty cycle for the square wave ?
Im a newbie with this stuff, does this unit allow you to graph voltage say from an outlet so you can see the mountains and valleys over time?
Yes it does. I will do a comparison of several of these 3 in 1 meters.
Eddie, do you know if there is a data accusation application to download data from the meter?
So I got burned on my last oscilloscope that I purchased. I can’t calibrate the multimeter nor the scope. If I buy this one can I calibrate this manually?
can you export waveform data in a csv file or something or does it just export a screenshot?
Hey guys, would you recommend this one or rather Zoyi ZT703S ? Thanks a lot!
That is a great question! I think I need to do a shoot out between those and the Gotchafix version too;)
Display and measurement seems really nice and quick for everyday hobbyist use, sure precision is a bit off but then again. Price performance and package, it's kinda hard to beat. Would maybe have preferred a bit higher voltage on the signal generator.
Great feedback - right on point;)
I need to check the sine wave of my generator, but I can't find how to plug in the charge cable.

😮😊😊😊👌
Thanks!
Can you send me one scope I really need it?
OWON make a similar tool, I have one which goes to 200MHz its very impressive. Very good for vehicle repair.
Thanks so much! Which Owon model do you have? BTW did you see this video I just posted on Automotive Oscilloscopes? th-cam.com/video/XFymCNXilHc/w-d-xo.html
G,day from Sydney Australia.
I'd prefer a curve tracer for field work. Then Change the through hole components for new.
🌏🇦🇺
Great to hear from Australia! Do you use the X-Y function for curve trace?
@KissAnalog Don't actually own the input current device. Great way to pinpoint a short circuit, then measurement of Hz.
🌏💫
Thanks!!

Thanks for the great info! I have seen the SGS, but didn't know who they were. That makes sense now that you mention it.

Bro what are you measuring with all that equipment? 😂😂The space time continuum?
Generator.
Yes it does have a signal generator. Is that what you are commenting about?

Thanks - maybe you can check to see what shipping is from where you are to Utah (Salt Lake City).
@KissAnalog ok, thanks. Ill see if i can find one. Btw, i sent my billing address the last time i emailed.
The chips are probably ground because they are pirated. Sort of like firearms with the serial numbers ground off. 😁
Thanks for that - but I think they do that so they can't be copied. That is an old tactic that has been used for a long time. If the pirated them - wouldn't they want to brag about what they are supposed to be;)
@ The irony of the Chinese not wanting to be copied.
LOL - that is ironic;)
Lol. Its chinese standard spacing i guess
Yes - they have it nailed down;)
