I've been doing mobile mechanic work for 10+ years I've had all kinds of different vehicles as my work truck right now I have a duramax chevy express retired ambulance
It took me about a year to get the employee mindset out! It helped i ran a small shop first. I run 2 trucks and trailers (one employee) started 2018. Look like u have a similar mind set. I dont even swear unless the customer does, some people wont teust u is u are not relatable.
I started out as a mobile auto Mechanic was doing it for a few years then was sick of the cold weather in pa so grabbed a shop and had customers come to the shop. After 8 years of being in business I shut down last summer due to a back injury wasn't able to do that work. Being honest with the customer is the most important part of it all. Mechanics get a back rep for jerking ppl off. When I had my shop I kept in contact at all times and the big thing to is I showed the part I replaced and explained how it works most people don't car but it's to gain the trust of the customer is the key. My old customers still call me for a 2nd opinion even though I don't work on their cars I still stay in touch with the big hitters customers. Show respect and you will earn respect.
only problem with the example you gave of the electric ratchet in the door is once you loosen that bolt with the ratchet and then get your head of your ratchet butted up against the inside of the door hinge cause the bolt is loose now its stuck and you cant hit the direction selector on the ratchet im sure you know what im talking about lol.
The world is run by bullshitters and hacks. Look at all these idjits who make bank and call themselves "consultants". Being able to bullshit with the gift of gab, and make lies sound believable, is all it takes to be successful.
As a person the spends tons of money on diesel trucks as a hobby ..... I hope any person that takes this advice is a True Diehard diesel lover and Mechanic and you become the best mechanic you possibly can 🙏 Organization is Huggggge 💪 and a good state of mind and proper Love for Diesel trucks ❤️ I support all my mobile diesel Mechanics . I give an hour free if there's 2 hours plus of drive time. If it's shop diag there's a charge. I agree with you though. Some diags turn into hours of frustration depending on what it is
Man I wish I was skinny again! At your age I was always 200lbs but I am 6-3 now that I am older I am 265 ! The crazy part is I ain't fat! I lifted weights for a long time! All that mussel looks and feels good! But I can't fit in places now! Tight spots! And at 200 lbs I had way more energy! It's a double edge Sword
I am a mechanic by trade and have some bread put up. I was thinking of either opening up a small shop/ mobile mechanic or a tow truck business which ever is more profitable?
JM QUICK FIX here in Atlanta! Happy to see you succeed and take the mobile route. I agree with a lot that you say. I have an 02 ram 1500 4.7. Black truck with a red fender. I don't care about my appearance. Like I tell my customer the truck isn't going to fix your car. I am. To your point that this is a business if it ain't broken no need to fix it. Lol. Keep it up man!
There's a reason you're behind a private profile afraid to post your life experiences. Over here self employed and did $130 to $150k in revenue every year since 2019 and am financially free as well as debt free! I can take months off at a time and not be affected.
It's a modified hitch assembly that I welded to my Curt hitch. I bought the crane itself from amazon and cut off the reciever. www.amazon.com/MaxxHaul-70238-Receiver-Hitch-Mounted/dp/B008CE0WCW/ref=sr_1_2?crid=225E4F4LV0D1X&keywords=engine+crane+for+trailer+hitch&qid=1694574432&sprefix=engine+crane+for+trailer+hit%2Caps%2C1031&sr=8-2

That was something my dad always did in business. Keep old parts and show the customer. Most loved it! Some didn't care
@CPSteveMiller yup same here. Some don't care but it's that step that will set me aside from the other "crooks".

That happens with the valve covers on the rear of the Cummins. I always get that bad boy stuck up top 😅

Tip from me, dont do free diag... your time has to equal money.

If everyone could do what you do, your idea would work.

It's all profitable it just depends on your area, client base, and how much you can set aside for the slow season while you build up.
Brother Im 260lbs and I guarantee I have a more successful business then you
And I would still wish you the best. Hopefully you're healthy at 260 as well 🙏

Somehow it still works 😂🤣
Round is a shape
Thank you, and never ever vote todays Democrat!
Do you need a license for that
I know a couple guys that started doing road service and mobile work. They bought old ambulance. They said that was the best service truck.
Best redneck shadetree rig. Thats like trying to use a crescent wrench for a hammer.
My two cents, location location location! Study your location! This business does not work everywhere.

You should not be giving financial advice to anyone

What’s the hoist setup on trailer hitch ?

Those wheels are sick! Who makes them?
Centerline. Pretty sure they're discontinued as of recently because when I checked their site they were bought out.
