By far the best part of this piece when hearing it in person is when the percussion is in 7/8 or 9/8 and the rest of the band is in 4/4. Such an incredible experience to play that.
I remember playing this in high school. we had a big band, 70 kids? might have been more? Played it for a competition. When everyone was on the same page and we were all vibing with the music it was spectacular. Great experience, one i'll remember forever. thx for choosing it, Oz. Great memories from band i won't ever forget.
HALLELUJAH! This is my favorite piece written by Michael Sweeney. I only discovered it because It’s on smartmusic. I have always wanted to play this piece in an ensemble. Along with Legends in the Mist, Rumble on the High Plains, Earthdance, and Earth and Sky, Sweeney is and always will be awesome.
What an amazing piece of music. I still have to watch it all the way through, but this piece has a lot of amazing things going on, like the counter rhythms. Mr. Sweeney is a genius. :)
Hey I love this channel and since I am a huge Star Wars fan, could I request the Han Solo score whenever it’s comes out bc literally that is a great score so I would love to actually put my eyes to it ya know? Just a suggestion good job 👏 👍

Played this about a year ago with an old ensemble. Best piece we ever got.
I love this song a lot in band! The cues, the main melody, and the percussion.
Thanks Sweeney for this song and Quad City Stomp!
Quite unusual. Unusually- nice.
This is the proof that music is art!

What are do those squares around the notes mean on page 2?
Weird, right? They mean to play those notes at random on conductors cue. The second piece i've ever seen use that kind of articulation.
@@zynrchkll Thank you!
@@zynrchkll it sounds extremely cool though!
3:15 is clearly where the best part is
