I got lucky last Boxing Week Sale at my LCS and snagged a few nice ones for 1/2 price. This year, I found only one high grade issue of GHOSTS - which doesn't seem to get as much recognition. More people are definitely picking them up.
DC horror. I invested heavy into this about fifteen years ago. HoM, HoS, Witching Hour, Unexpected(and Tales of), Weird War Tales, Weird Mystery Tales, Ghosts, Secrets of Haunted House. Anything Wrightson, Swamp Thing and I'm probably missing a handfull of other titles. The covers are addictive!
Thank you great list - great comparisons on the ten year returns. Overall excellent video with sound insight and analysis; very much appreciate your thought and time put into this for 2025 acquisitions and PC value adjustments. Thanks again.
I have some of the issues listed in this video. I collected comic books back in the 80s & 90s, when it was still an affordable hobby. I stopped buying altogether around 2000. Maybe some of my books will appreciate in value.
Great video. I really like how you didn't pick 10 comics that are the usual suspects, but, rather, you grouped classes of comics thematically. Well done.
Horror comics from Marvel and DC released between 1969 and 1975 in high grade. Even reprint issues of titles like Marvel's Monsters On The Prowl are now half a century old and many have original stories among the reprints. And of course all DC horror books with Wrightson art, and Wrightson or Adams covers.
really good video over the years I've had opportunities with books and I let them go because I didn't have enough information like what you are giving us in these videos
Hulk 180 makes more sense both from a historical/collectible perspective as well as financial. Your buy in is much lower, you can buy more copies, and newer more logical collectors tend to go for it over 181. But sure 181 is a great 2nd appearance/1st cover, just a bit overvalued.
Long-term physical comic books will be a tremendous investment. Also long-term nft version of the physical comic will be valuable. Nfts will make physical comics more valuable. I'm not saying go out and buy any nfts. What I'm saying is they go hand in hand with the smart contracts. You can read the nft comic in AR and other methods while preserving your physical copy and never touching it. You can't resale digital comics but you can resell nft comics. Some companies are already dropping physical comics with an nft version. Anyone who doesn't pay attention to this I believe is making a big mistake and the long-term
Disney is running the female silver surfer in the upcoming FF movie. I doubt he will have a significant jump this year. Especially with the way disney marvel has been performing.
she's alternate universe version. Once the reboot happens after secret wars, we will get a proper norrin rad version of silver surfer in the mcu main universe.
For deadpool, I'd pass on 88(1st meeting with wolverine) at this point, and instead try cable & deadpool #24(1st meeting with spider-man.) I do agree on circle chase, though.
Always appreciate the videos no matter what the subject matter is. Thank you for this one, but the suggestions seem a little safe, like high cost, low risks and low to medium yield returns. Do you have any hot take suggestions? Mine would be SIKTC #1. I believe Netflix would be insane not to move forward with that project and the production news so far is promising. Possibly the next Walking Dead? Respect and gratitude my friend.
You're also very wrong about Veve comics. They sell the digital version which you can't resell and an nft version of about 1,000 mints. Those you can resell in the market. The comics the issues they are dropping on there are same-day print current issues. So that's a three-prong attack of physical digital and nft. So once not doing away with the other it's enhancing them all as one big strategy for comic book publishers. The platform also will let anybody contact them and print their own comics as an nft. So they're eventually be comics that don't have a physical edition that eventually will get one or vice versa. But if you or anybody you know is developing their own comic contact them and get on that platform it's a good way to get exposure for your comic.
I'm gobbling up Golden age comics on candy with DC and veve only dropped one golden age comic Marvel's number one. The nft market is for real and dangerous right now for a lot of people. But long-term Golden age comics will be the most valuable.
@@stormshadowctf The problem with SA Xmen is they do not feature the most popular version of the Xmen team, which is the team introduced in GSX1. IF they were those books would be on par with SA Spidey. I still think they are a good investment though. 1st Sentinels is one I picked up a couple of years ago for long term hold.
Good list! Unpopular opinion, though I think Ghost Rider #1 is overvalued. There's anticipation for him in the MCU. Definitely a valuable book, but maybe not what it's currently going for.
I watch every one of your videos Dave they are all awesome. Anyway, anybody who bought their comic books during Covid it’s going to take you a lifetime to get your money back if you resell.. I didn’t buy anything during Covid. I guess I am one of the lucky ones.. on the other hand. If you sold your Comic Books during Covid, you would not have to work again.. let’s take my tales of suspense 39, 8.5 I only paid $5300 before Covid about two years ago. They had two copies on Comic Link that sold for $120,000 the next one $99,000 now it’s only in the $60-$70,000 range where it should be.. by the way, Dave that collection I will say this again unless you have tremendous overhead, you could just sell those other comic books, and just keep the goddamn Hulk 1 9.0 . I know that’s part of business, but Jesus Christ sell the other books don’t mess with this book it’s only going to go through the roof that is your retirement you and your wife..🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
ASM 300, 316 both raw NM, Venom 3 - slabbed 9.6, NM 98 raw NM, Wolverine 88 raw VG-NM, GR 1 Raw Good, TOD 1 Raw VG, Manthing 1 raw VG, HOS 87 raw fine, Batman 227 raw - fine? Sadly some black marker touchup :( Batman 251 raw VG - acquired in 2024. Want to grab ASM 129, Hulk 181, Silver Surfer 1, and more Adams Batman/Tec books this year.
ASM 300 newsstand 6.0 Todd McFarland signed ASM 316 9.8 venom 3 9.8 new mutants 98 9.8 Deadpool 1 96 fantastic four 48 8.0 silver surfer 1 and 4 6.0 hulk 181 8.0 qualified missing stamp Wolverine Limited 1 9.8 Batman 251 2.5 signed asm 55 cgc still has it but expected high grade all cgc slabbed couple on this list that are on my list 👍🏼🤘
Please don't try and fool yourselves into living in an echo chamber. If you buy copper or newer books you absolutely have to get them in a 9.8I or you might as well throw them in the garbage. Books less than a 9.8 unless somebody gives them to you are barely worth slab costs.
It’s funny watching these videos 🤡 Knowing it’s all just talk that’ll never bring the kind of profits I’ve made with Elizzarda and their casino, make money from the players. Nothing compares!
Dumb video. Do you just make videos for the sake of making videos? Venom is up because of the recent movies and now that venom is done that book will go down especially since there are a trillion copies. If it weren't so common then maybe a year from now once it's come down you could buy it, but its far too common to even make it a good buy at that point in time probably.
the symbiote is coming to the mcu. if it happens this year or is even announced, symbiote keys will go up. That said, I'd prefer going after a high grade raw for a deal, if possible.
I wouldn't touch any bronze or newer book now unless its a very good price, These books were tremendously overprinted, way too many people bought them during the covid comic bubble, and too many peopleare in over their heads and looking for way too much money. Currently you have In this entire genre way too many at way too much all at very nigh grades. The e census is your friend on these. There are always any of them on sale in mu!triple au,tions at any given time.
Nah you can definitely afford to collect - lots of great new stories being published every month to get into like Ultimate Spider-Man and Absolute Batman, etc. - if you love comics it’s a great time now but that doesn’t mean you can afford ridiculously expensive high grade vintage key comics!
why is there always this assumption that it's one or the other? Dave has made several videos stating that he invests in stocks and other assets besides comics.
Oh man, this year went fast! I remember this topic last year. Best of luck in '25 🎉
Great video Dave!! Thanks!
Those DC silver edge horror books with cool covers are some of the hardest books to find in high grade for a decent price
I got lucky last Boxing Week Sale at my LCS and snagged a few nice ones for 1/2 price. This year, I found only one high grade issue of GHOSTS - which doesn't seem to get as much recognition. More people are definitely picking them up.
Agreed

Yes I love those covers
I am after the same stuff. Fightin Marines "Nazi hit man" #160 is such a gnarly cover
Solid content - thanks!
Always go for the blue chips. I made the mistake in 2021 of chasing new and modern books. should have held onto my keys more.
That theory applies to sport cards too
Great list. Thanks, David .
LOVE that SS#4 cover! Need a nice copy for my PC! Oh and a Hulk 181 😝
Great list of comics!! Keep up the good work. Happy New Year!! 💥💥💥
Happy new year!
I've already told you! I bought a BM 251 8.0 this year! I completely agree! My age group of buyers are about to start showing up for bigger buys!
Thank you great list - great comparisons on the ten year returns. Overall excellent video with sound insight and analysis; very much appreciate your thought and time put into this for 2025 acquisitions and PC value adjustments. Thanks again.

Fantastic video David
Great list. Have most. Need more asm though. Thanks
USD to CAD prices is a killer for Canadian comic buyers.... Plus tax and USA duties.
Dude, I bought a few authentic hockey jerseys from Canada, I live in the states. Shipping is no joke also from up north!
As a Canadian I am most likely done buying/selling from/to the US, with tariffs in the future it's not worth it anymore.
Big time.
But CAD to USD prices are 'killer' for Canadian comic sellers.
I also think people need to get ASM 38 last ditko and 39 1st Romita. Those are sleepers
Glad I got a good bit of Golden Age Batman books a few years back!! Let's see what 2025 has in store!! Cheers!!
Horror comics from Marvel and DC released between 1969 and 1975 in high grade. First. Af15 all day
Man I’m glad you put this video out cause I bought most them keys you spoke about and I tend to worry about making the wrong choice
well glad I can help
Hulk 180 makes more sense both from a historical/collectible perspective as well as financial. Your buy in is much lower, you can buy more copies, and newer more logical collectors tend to go for it over 181. But sure 181 is a great 2nd appearance/1st cover, just a bit overvalued.
What do you think about Invincible #1 ?
Yes, do more of these videos.
Great list!
Thoughts on investing in invincible?
Great video
LOVE THE D.C. horror comics, Not too much for Silver Surfer though.
Well done, sir.
Happy new year David!
happy new year too

As long as it helps physical copies then it's great news. More exposure to comics helping to keep the Hobby alive
I’m surprised that you didn’t recommend Hulk 180 vs Wolverine 1.
Disney is running the female silver surfer in the upcoming FF movie. I doubt he will have a significant jump this year. Especially with the way disney marvel has been performing.
The first reports of Julia Garner as Silver Surfer in the costume is incredible.
she's alternate universe version. Once the reboot happens after secret wars, we will get a proper norrin rad version of silver surfer in the mcu main universe.
Did Marvel not print like a billion copies of Deadpool #1?
maybe, but its goes for around $20-$25 so not a steep investment at all.
For deadpool, I'd pass on 88(1st meeting with wolverine) at this point, and instead try cable & deadpool #24(1st meeting with spider-man.) I do agree on circle chase, though.
Thank you
Spec on DC in 2025...Marvel for the future.
I'm up in comics physical and digital
Always appreciate the videos no matter what the subject matter is. Thank you for this one, but the suggestions seem a little safe, like high cost, low risks and low to medium yield returns. SIKTC 1 is currently a $600-$700 book in 9.8 How long would it take to get walking dead #1 prices? and that's if the show is good.

Isn’t the first WWBN marvel tales 116 by atlas?
Re: Adams Batman - Shhh!! I'm not done picking them up yet. LOL
Have a Batman 220's and 230's run; working on Tec 400's and 410's.
such great issues
I'm gobbling up Golden age comics on candy with DC and veve only dropped one golden age comic Marvel's number one. The nft market is for real and dangerous right now for a lot of people. But long-term Golden age comics will be the most valuable.
Very surprised silver age xmen didnt make the list.

Comic books are way overpriced, I can't afford to collect anymore 😢
Slabs are way overpriced, collecting raw is the right route if you're not trying to collect for financial gain.
I’ve noticed that comics have taken a correction in price ( a bit lower in price ) 😊
I’ve been after Secrets of Haunted House #5 for ages . Such a great cover 😊
Good list! Unpopular opinion, though I think Ghost Rider #1 is overvalued. There's anticipation for him in the MCU. Definitely a valuable book, but maybe not what it's currently going for.
yeah i'd rather go for spotlight 5 or ignore them both.

I thought you were gonna put upcoming comics…..do you have a list for them?
He doesn't deal in new comic books; he's strictly vintage.
the problem with new comics is there is no track record or data to go off, so its purely speculation/gamble
Why dont you take some real grades that are obtainable?
What are you talking about? You mean to tell me you don't got $72k in a box under your bed ready to go grab a 9.8 hulk 181?
Do Not Overlook Marvel's Strange Tales 169...Brother Voodoo . Going To See Him Soon In The MCU Universe , Courtesy Of Doc Strange And The Multiverse
silverage spider-man, bronzeage x-men
It does matter what spider books you get - focus on actual keys.

Action Comics #1
Why buy at alltime highs?
Wouldn't "all-time highs" have been back in 2021?
Hard to get in expensive books
No Home Here 1 1 :50, spawn 5 newsstand,
and Spawn 360 1 :50
Pre 1973 sports cards are the real deal!
ya there are some crazy prices in vintage sports cards
Invincible
This video could be labeled 2024… 2023… 2022… 2021… 1999….
If anyone says invest into these comics for 2025, don't do it, I heard from a guy named Dave to not believe the hype. Lol.
lol

yeah 9.8 or just go raw. I constantly see people selling raw books at similar prices to it's graded equivalent.
It’s funny watching these videos 🤡 Knowing it’s all just talk that’ll never bring the kind of profits I’ve made with Elizzarda and their casino, make money from the players. Nothing compares!
I’d rather invest in something tangible than a casino game that offers fake reviews on comic book TH-cam videos.
Wow 🤯 You are so talented
U don't understand because you're Stupid and don't realize that fact either!!! 🤔
Imagine not putting Young Avengers #1 on this list......oof
lol🤣
godzilla >>comics verse
Oh look.. captain obvious..
My pick would be nyx 3
“Investing” in comics might be the dumbest idea ever. Invest in stocks/bonds. Collect books if you choose but don’t expect a ROI
My Hulk 181 has outperformed the S&P 500 over the past 24 years.
Do not invest in comics.
