@@JohnS.-ft1kk thank you so much for making this comment to inform me in a respectful manner and I did read it. I do study the lotus sutra and have read some Gosho but will read more soon. I believe that Buddhism is most importantly a way of life, and a practice of compassion and determination. I used to be involved with Catholicism, but I didn’t agree with the beliefs in things like hell, and only one son of god, I do not do whatever just because it makes me feel nice (and I know you weren’t saying that in a rude way). I have studied Buddhism from many different sources, books, quotes, and nichiren Buddhism aligned with what I believed in the most by far! I’ve nearly memorized gongyo and chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Qyo. And I know strongly that that is not all that matters in anyway. It’s also about studying. And I know that for me and all my other SGI Friends that we do not consider any of Daisaku Ikeda’s writings as important as the lotus sutra or Gosho. They are simply lectures to inspire you and help you better understand them. For me, the whole “correct practice” thing is not as important to me as everything else. I chant because it gets me closer to my enlightenment and lessens the suffering of me and others. I chant for world peace, for my family, and for my well-being. If everyone chanted I believe the world wouldn’t be so tuff. Because people would Believe in themselves and show more compassion for others more. I hope you can see my point of view as I do yours and that we can still share as beliefs that we both agree on, and still have our different ones.
@@JohnS.-ft1kk I totally agree with the things you are saying that feeling calm and feeling good is only the main side effect of chanting Daimoku, and that the most important thing is the connection you make to the mystic law, and liberating from suffering in daily life it gives you. It also makes you climb the ladder of life states to one day achieve your best one. (Enlightenment). I definitely know what am chanting, the purpose of it, and see the effects in my life.
