  • My second flight from Plantation Point, this time heading straight out to the lighthouse across the bay.
    See the first flight around the northern part of Jervis Bay here: • AtomRC Dolphin FPV - J...
    My original DIY Li-Ion 21700-4200mah 4S pack is getting a little tired after over three years of regular use, so it's time to invest in a few new cells!

    A beautiful tour Zak. For a "beat up" old airframe it sure does well😉 It appeared a pretty long trip so the old battery is doing well still too!
    Will be over in two weeks so hope to catch up😁

      @@nicktwinn6760 the magic of hot glue! Haven't tested properly but I feel the old pack is not taking as much charge.
      Would be good to see you!

    How were the winds out there? Looks like a nice safe flight at good altitudes. You flying HD vid on this? or analog? I assume you fly INAV?

    • @ZaksterBlue
      @ZaksterBlue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      HD, still pretty clear LOS coverage across the water so no issues staying low. Yes, INAV - mostly in acro mode.

      @@ZaksterBlue I just looked up the map of the bay. Impressive distances. I still find that at that sort of distance I turn into a chickenshit pilot. Your INAV tune looks pretty decent. I've been on a crusade lately to get my Penguin flying as locked-in as possible like a quad. Hoping to learn more from other peoples experiences. I assume you have dialed some parameters?

      @@JamesDowningFPV I've probably gone the other way and relaxed my roll tune, P=3, I=14, D=10 or so. Mainly to reduce the little micro roll jitters. Also running 6v for servos and higher refresh cycle to try and reduce latency. Nothing major.
      Other tuning theories include moderate P but high I gain to keep on track no matter what, with D to soften the reaction. Haven't tried this method yet but likely to bring back the micro roll jitters I dislike.

      @@ZaksterBlue I've been through a lot of phases with my tune. There's such an interplay with the filters on the effectivity of P and D. There can be a significant delay in the stock filter settings that really affect how well the system responds. I used to also have an issue with my D being so delayed that it would essentially overlap with P and over-respond to things. I think I've got it pretty locked in now, but its a been a long road. I don't even remember all that I've changed!

    Why does it start reversing at the end of the video? I didnt know RC places could do this.

    • @JamesDowningFPV
      @JamesDowningFPV 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you talking about the motor audibly "revving" a few times before the landing? That's just him goosing the throttle a little to give him a little extra airspeed to make it to his landing site instead of landing in the surf.

    • @ZaksterBlue
      @ZaksterBlue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, just blipping throttle to avoid a stall and get to the landing spot without gaining much speed.
      Technically you could add reverse to a brushless motor by using a bi-directional (3D) ESC. Your throttle resolution would be halved though, as mid-stick is then 'low'.

    Nice video and all but you do realize its not legal? You have to be able to see the plane / drone with your eyes at all times. You are providing video evidence and believe me they troll youtube looking for stuff like this.

      Karen. You realize that this video was recorded over 3 years ago even if it was posted a month ago. The FAA has a statute of limitations of two years from the date of the alleged violation to issue a Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty (NPCP). This means that after two years from the incident, the FAA generally cannot initiate an enforcement action for civil penalties.
