Lou speaks truth in an easily understandable way. The interviewer is loving him right here lol

Yup. He is (or was I guess)very blunt.
He was the biggest trailblazer in rock and roll.... I really mean that too...

It all sounds part and parcel of that magical druggie lifestyle you so vocally champion, Lou. What EXACTLY is the problem?

      I am a proud druggie
Heroin, crack, xanax, nerve pain meds,
you name it, I've done it most likely...
And I gotta say I love it just like Lou did....
Lou is a legend. He did all those drugs and SURVIVED to 70 years old!... Imagine living like LOU REED did!..
He saw the irony in life and LAUGHED at it and did whatever he wanted...
And yes, I AM high on PILLS (lol)
      Long live Lous legacy!...

It's a most jarring thing indeed to hear a mellow, almost friendly, and sociable Lou Reed. He either respected the interview chops of Martin Perlich or the man was on some strong-ass junk that particular day. Regardless of the cause for this atypical affability and gregariousness from what was usually a very sullen character, this interview holds precious insight into Lou's opinion of "new" rock acts - many of which he and the rest of the VU company helped inspire directly - at a time of great transition for him!

I have the master copy of this interview - I bought in on Ebay a while back. the whole thing is about 27 mins long and it was recorded for KMET radio in (I would guess) May 1973. EDIT: if you discount the music, there is about 21 mins of Lou talking.
