    Pls can you quickly describe why the torque ripple in the last example has an offset from the 3-phase excitation, unlike the first example

      Also from your explanation,it seems we are looking at two different torque components on the same machine,is there a mathematical rule for this offset ?

    but permanent magnet motors feel smooth when unpowered unless the phases are shorted

      nvm, i confirmed that the statement is correct when testing with a larger motor
