dude, your doing gods work :) i love how down to earth you are, and your lessons are soo informative. keep up the good work. god bless you!
Hey Gareth. I like your series and I believe even seasoned designers, not only beginners, can enjoy this. It's useful to go back to the basics sometimes. I often buy books with basic content as I always pick up some aspects I've either forgot about or haven't studied for a long time. I often need to get back to basics when things start to get too complicated or too "clever" in a way. Thanks, keep up the good work.
I can’t believed this video was made 7 years ago🤯

Is there a list of textures that define generations or trends? You mentioned some, but I'd be interested where I could learn more.
i didnt know about gift paper. now i have something to tell my friends :)
Very crisp and nicely explained
Thank you for making these! Very well made
BROTHER, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! You oooh really helped me!! THANK YO
Thanks a million, times Gareth, Just one piece of advice, This Video should be simplified and exemplified with real-world examples,.
I started learning Graphic Design almost two years ago, being a Backend Developer, I learned graphic designed based on your given principles only, I could not think of anything outside of these principles ( you know backend developers care about the functional aspect of things only, they are usually super poor at designing :).
IN the last two years, I created nicely designed websites, But I was totally missing that texture thing, I could not justify why I need abstract patterns(texture patterns) in the background but found them interesting,
Luckily I found this video after two years, I feel I will finally start focusing on texture in my designs now.
man thank you so much for this, i hope you get paid well
thank you so much
Really helpful and easy to understand tutorial
your videos are super, thanks for sharing .....can you tell me how to download the pdf
maybe gift wrapping papers are in patterns because it would be very difficult of wrap gifts when considering the placement of a single or a few graphics? Although I don't disagree with Gareth said.

Hi, I got a doubt...
I couldn't get pretty well the difference between the Pattern and Texture examples. Gareth said that Texture is made of geometric and/or organic shapes and mainly is randomly distributed. In the other hand, Pattern shows some harmony and follow a structured distribution. The problem is, in the Pattern examples, there are some "not equally distributed" designs too, just like the beehive and the snake skin. What's the real difference between them?
Thank you.

Amazing Videos 👍👍
Thanks ever so much
I'm not quite sure about image texture and pattern texture. In your examples about pattern texture, why there are beehive, flower and snake skin? Aren't they biological type of image pattern?
I assume it's because the repeating shapes makes them trigger the same senses as the patterns instead of the other, asymmetric photos? That's my best guess.
Please I have a question, would you consider imagery as texture? If not, then why is imagery not an element on its own?
I think you've answering it in the video 😂, thank you
Amazing
Hey gareth nice tutorial it really helped :) but how long would it take me to be a professional graphic designer?? and thanks again!!
Hey Kareem, well firstly, what is a professional Graphic Designer? Quiet a broad term there.
For this I’ll assume you mean it to be someone who can apply for a job, get it and get paid being a graphic designer.
If that is the case then the answer to how long it takes would be: How long it takes to create the portfolio of work to attend an interview and get the job.
So it’s highly down to the portfolio of work. You will need to create work, and good work, and that can take some time. Everyone’s journey is really different depending if you go to school, college or university or not.
If you go to university or evening classes you can create some work to include. However after leaving school or uni, you don’t really have a lot of experience, or work to show for the industry. You may have to do some internships, or take on some work by yourself. Soon you will have your portfolio which you can use at the interview.
I went to uni at 18, left at 22, did some internships and got my first job at 23. So 4 years of study and about 6 months of internships. Did I call myself a ‘professional’ when I got my first job… no, however I got it, worked for a few years, and progressed. I’d say somewhere between then and now I became a professional. ;)
TastyTuts | Creative tutorials by Gareth David well im a student in architecture :D..i was planning on a career change since i kinda like graphics and can draw also your videos encouraged me to become a graphic designer.. and yeah i was planning to go on some internships in the near future xD but i got a part time job along my college so mayb after i finish it i will..and currently i will just learn from your tutorials you really are a great inspiration man..
