In Manchester, UK, late May 1992, we had five of these within half an hour! Single blast rod-like bolt that did not flicker at all! King of all Positive Lightnings!
Nice catch! Brief, bright, straight and usually vertical bolt. And explosive so that it rattles the windows and you hear it with you stomach. From what I've seen in my life so far it is not surprising at all to have positive lightnings right after storm has calmed down. They usually appear exactly when "it's (almost) over".
For decades I wanted to know what the lightning is from what I have witnessed.... My hunt is now over. Unlike you, I believe a smooth channel lightning happened just 50 metres away. A couple of decades ago on a stormy night (how clichéd was that) and the storm was was reasonably short with this lightning blowing it apart. There was this blinding single flash and then approximately a tenth of a second the thunder which wasn't the traditional roar but it was light a cannon fire at very close range. The sound nearly shattered the glass windows from the intense single sound and this scared the bejesus out of me. This happened three times in my life and a decade prior to this happened and it took down the power and all the old analogue phones were ringing. I could hear the phones from a couple of houses ringing at the same time and it would not stop. This was such a bizarre event and now it is explained. Thank You very much 👏
I don't know why, but I was suddenly thinking about this one thunderstorm we had this year in Sydney that sounded and felt like an actual earthquake. It was in the early hours of the morning and actually scared me because with how low and deep the sound was. This was close enough to the sound, I reckon.
So its not just happening here In Georgia, USA.. every storm this past week, and even further back ( we've pretty much have had non stop severe weather Somewhere since December give or take a few small breaks. ) the thunder has sounded EXACTLY like this., They are striking further away from me typically than this capture, i cant even verify if they are all smooth channel positive or not because i hardly even see the bolts. But an alarming to me amount of these bolts have that boom to it. Even today Miss R, Some of the thunder seemed like it just kept on going !!! from one flash of lightning one of the thunders lasted easily 20 seconds. Another strike today sounded like this explosion but 3 or 4 back to back to back. You could even tell when the lighting was cloud to cloud because of how the sound of the thunder moved across the sky slowly.
Really good sound. Probably a long shot but do you happen to remember a loud positive lightning strike in Sydney on May 24 2017 at about 5AM? It allegedly struck near Neutral Bay but it sounded like a 747 crashing onto my roof in Randwick. It made the news and was heard all over the metro area.
Hey! Would you be cool with me showing a part of this video briefly in one of my upcoming videos? I'll definitely give you a shout out and credit you of course!
I thought the microphone did a good job catching the sound of the lightning. But it probably didn’t sound anything like real life I have that same problem too.
@@SouthSydneyStorms those positive bolts are no joke. I caught one like that last summer here in the United States it happened to be about alittle over a mile away. ( Or 2.5-3km)
Haha. This was filmed on a $500 Samsung phone with a average microphone & no volume boost from kine master. The amount of force irl was insane and nothing like I've experienced before. It woke up my entire family lol. Thx for watching
One of the few 'positive lightning' clips on YT that is an actual positive, well captured!!!
Thanks oz thunder
100% a positive superbolt. The thunder these types of strikes can produce is incredible. I felt the concussion through my headphones.
Absolutely! Thanks for stopping by mate.
Good one!
The amount of reflection off the houses during the return stroke tells the story.
Yup. Thx man

Wow. Could have imagined what it would sound like. Would have loved to experience it.
@@SouthSydneyStorms The only problem is though. It's rained ever since it happened!
Isn't a lot of your cold season "thundery wintry showers" NW flow type lightning like that too ? (even if it is much less frequent) ?
@@bitey-facepuppyguy2038 It depends really. You just don't know what you gonna get next.
Insane capture!❤ High humidity DEFINITELY intensifies positive lightning!

Yup. One of the most intense sounds of nature. Thx for watching
I went to Italy and I heard one of these positive lightning strikes
Haven’t heard anything like them before
dang postive bolts even from far away its like a real close lightning strike but louder 😬
We had Brad Willis and Family, Lou Carpenter, Doctor Kennedy, Wayne Duncan, Toadfish, Lucy, Coadie, Philip Martin and Family in NEIGHBOURS!

Thank You very much 👏
I remember it struck outside my town here in Romania and it sounded like a cannon ball likeat 0:26
And they were all smooth channel bolts too!
Fantastic recording. You have so many amazing videos and this one is very impressive.
Thank u very much mate :)
Will you be permanently deafening if that think struck 20m?
The deadly power of nature.
Yes, I have been there leaving my camera recording while I go do something else and hearing a good thunder and being like please tell me I got that 😂

0:26 it would be scary if it stuck 20 yards away
Indeed

Thunder from positive lightning can be 160+db. The thunder from them is still loud at about 8km away.
That's what I call an "Oh Shit" moment.
Sure was mate

1:31 how are you still breaking the speaker a minute after the strike
Sounded way better than the fireworks going off outside.
Really? That's insane. Thanks for watching
Was there a shallow inversion present ? The wind seemed very light.
I think there was man. Very strange to see wind that light when a storm that powerful develops
😱🌩Scarrrry 😱

It did its best, but if only you heard in real life lol. I've never experienced something like that.
That Was Sure Loud!!!.
Indeed!
YES!!
How far away was that bolt? the time laps between the bolt and the boom made it difficult for me to count. Love this video
The lightning was a kilometre or 2 away although it sounded like it hit 2cm away from me. That was the loudest thunder I've ever heard.
Thanks for liking m8 :)

Incredibly powerful bolt! What microphone was this recorded on?
Thanks mate. That was recorded on my samsung galaxy a51 regular mic but with a little bit of volume boost from a editing app called kine master.
@@SouthSydneyStorms the audio on that phone is impressive, sounds similar to the Zoom h4n mic i have

Damn that is different then my type of lightning in LA
In what way? Very cool
Yeah blue color
@@Gamingjeffrey1 wow ok
Oh yeah I subscribe cuz why not want to see more lightning.
@@Gamingjeffrey1 thank you for subscribing :)
luckily I had headphones and no subwoofer speakers otherwise this thunder blew up the house😂

BEAST thunder. Nice capture. You may like to see my playlist "Top Thunders" from my personal collection.

@@SouthSydneyStorms ok because my area which is the west didn't have storms
@@elevatorsfromrobloxbyposword yeah it mainly hit along the coastal fringe of Sydney
CRUCIFIX
Had one of these almost on my camera, but instead of recording i was not :l ( btw it was the only one that happened through summer )
