I believe that was explained in the video. There are also other related videos on provisions you could watch like Reasons why you provision business is not growing
Thank you for the video. But truly the success of the business is dependent on location. Rent also pays a huge role and I observed that the business is located on a busy road.
Yes. Location is a major factor in the business and that why I put it in the opener of the video that I will reveal why that location is one of the best places to open that kind of business. Later on in the video, I did. The road leads to a major market in Abuja. Customers that don't like how busy the market is buy from him. Awesome concept. 😊
Thank you, Ada for your kind words. I should have. Nonetheless, he told me off camera that the rent was N150k and I suppose shelves, table, chairs can take N100k - N150k. Then you can buy wholesale according to the amount you have and replenish gradually. If you actually buy from a real wholesaler, you can get products according to your budget and if you are a return customer, you might get products ABOVE your budget on credit.
Wow I just came across ur video sir n it's really helpful! I'm already a subscriber. I want to start this provision and Foodstuff business, already got a shop at a market but the shop is hidden inside the market and competition is much , I really don't know the next step to take.
Supplies is your next step. Nothing beats a good location. That half of the work done. But when you don't have a good location, your next option is supplies and promotion. If you buy directly from main dealers, consider supplying to smaller retailers, churches and hospitals. Sell on social media too (it's free). Post pictures and price and people that agree will look for you. Good luck. 👍🏼
This is why location is very crucial in business setup. The closer you are to your target market or where your target market converge, the better. The one we interviewed is on a road leading to a big market. You can also do targeted marketing on social media. This along you to select criteria relevant to your business and promote to them. For instance, showing your ads to married household located in your vicinity. With marriage comes children and that household would need lots of provisions supplies. And many more means.
Oil and gas is a big and diverse industry. They are not suitable for start up business because of their investment level required. Nonetheless, we will look into it to see if there is any part of it a startup entrepreneur can invest in.
This is amazing, I have passion for this business I have been looking for the provision business ideas and I came across this and is very interesting but my question like how much can someone start this business with
I started mine today, and I started with 250k. 60k for shop rent and 190k for purchase of items. I have a freezer before and a small shalves... Today is my first day and I sold 9k. I trust God it will get better...
Hello Gold, we usually advice you to start small. That way you can learn on the job so to speak. N150k - N500k is enough. But this highly depends on the location. The retailer we interviewed pays N150k per annum and is located well. We advice you take time and look for a suitable location where customers can easily access you. This forms the beginning of your success story.
There are 2 ways you can get products: From a major distributor or from a sub distributor. Major distributors require you buy in bulks, sub distributors may sell in pieces to you. Ask owners of provision Stores around you. They will tell you. But be sure to tell them that your shop is located very far from them so they don't see you as a competitor and give you wrong info. By the time you ask 4 or 5 sellers, you will get a unified info where to buy from.

Hello Precious, I can hear the enthusiasm in your voice and I have a great feeling you will succeed in the business. Now the first thing I want you to focus on is your location. Very, very important. Get a location close to a market. Your customers are everyone going to the market so stay where they will see you walking or driving by. If your location is good, half of your success story is already written.
The second thing you need to do is learn the business. If you have no experience, you need to find someone in the same line of business that will teach you of the pros and cons. Even if you have to pay the person to show you the ropes or you have to volunteer your service free of charge, its worth it. You will understand where they buy from, prices, what sells and when it sells. Option 2 is find out the companies they buy from and the companies will be glad to show you the ropes because if you know the rope then you become their customer. At the level of your investment, any major distributor will be glad to talk to you.
If you find a suitable and affordable shop, know where to buy and how to sell, with your enthusiasm and passion, you will most likely be successful. I wish you the very best. Cheers.
It depends on many things. Your location, store rent, size of shop and shelves cost. Are you going to man it yourself or hire a staff? Product costs. I'm sure you will get an idea when you put numbers to those.
That would depend on several things. 1. Location of your store (rent cost) 2. Size of your business 3. Where you buy your goods. (direct from farmers/distributors?) My advise is to start small according to your budget but don't lose focus of how big you want to grow. (vision) Starting is the hard part. Growth will always occur with good management. Remember: Business money is business money. Try not to use it for otherwise so that your business growth will be steady.
