I knew a she would rhyme right with fight before she said it. Never heard this song before and knew the lyrics. Shes lost her creativity and is doing grade school rhymes. Maybe next album it wont be so bad or as corny as Lunch.

I think she was strictly working to a track she has recorded and it's not a performance at all. She is not holding the mic where she or others would hold it for a live performance.
She's singing live... She sings with a label mic and the mic in hand is mostly performative. Same was with when she debuted the live performance for the title song Happier Than Ever on Jimmy Fallon. She belted, of course you could hear her. The mic is not far at all. You just need to know how to belt. If you dont know how, then dont act like you know.
I've thought since I first saw and heard Billie that she was a musical genius, as is her brother. She's jazzy, she's pop, she writes and performs in a category all her own. I'm 71 and I know great musicians when I hear them. I wish I could live long enough to see her grow in her talent.

that little vocal flare she does at 3:55 is one of my favourite parts of the album for some reason. it reminds me so much of the female vocalists from bands in the 90s and early 2000s like the cranberries and the sundays

Her control is just chefs kiss. Can tell she started in a choir but her mature voice is just beautiful. One of her best ever songs.
This is far from being her adult/mature/completely developed voice tho. I believe it happens for women at their 30s. She's have so much dynamic and technique and she's still so young. The day she drops her soubrette tone she'll be a skilled soprano for sure and we'll be ready. And btw we're starting to hear her belting abilities on the fifth octave breaking through the whispery soubrette tone already❤

Billie is honestly such an underrated vocalist. In reality, her voice was made for jazz. Her voice obviously evolved through the years which explains this amazing performance, but she’s always been such an underrated singer. Her voice and breath control and her vocal inflections were always so good ❤

I'm 72, and I think she is phenomenal. This song and What Was I Made For, give me chills.
To me, Billie is the greatest singer/songwriter in the history of music and she is only in her early 20s. There are a few important reasons why she has been so fortunate to be the artist to raise the bar for all of humanity. The timing in history was perfect from a technology perspective as well as being able to record 24/7 from an early age in the privacy of their home. While most other artists had to book studio time and the quality of planned expression of art makes a major difference. I am a 63 year old and I’m happy to say we are witnessing the new up and coming artists taking this art form to new heights!

I know the family through my roomates, and they are great people. I met Maggie and Patrick, (Billie's parents) back when Maggie was pregnant with Billie. Maggie and Patrick are very cool parents who have always given Finneas and Billie a lot of love and support. Back in the day, when we wanted to move from Echo Park Maggie helped us find a house in Highland Park close to their house. Billie and Finneas used to come over a lot to play with my roomate's son, Conner. I was always impressed how smart and well balanced those kids were. Finneas has a great sense of humor. I haven't seen them in awhile and am glad they are all doing great.

to those of you thinking shes lipsyncing bc she pulls the mic so far away from her mouth, the same thing happened on fallon in 2021 when she sang happier than ever
her mic is either *extremely* hot + the gain is turned up everytime she pulls it away, or she has a lapel mic attached to her shirt that blends into the mix. some differences from the studio version are she goes a tad flat for a split second on the "grea" in "greatest" at 3:26, she adds in an extra "iiiii" at 3:53 n also cuts the "waited" belt at 4:24 short, all of which she does not do in the original
She also changed the pitch of some of notes at the very end and added an "mm" I don't think were on the studio version.
I couldn't see it but she sometimes also wears a wireless lapel or body mic which adds into the mix.
Shes an amazing singer. But it's possible there was also a pre live recording done and blended in to this performance Because at one point the mic is pulled too far away. Doesn't mean she didn't sing it but as someone experienced in studios and live music this to me seems like the most logical case. She still sounds great 👍🏿 👌🏿

@@poodles5835 She sings with her backing layers but I think her tv spots are done live. These are actually practice runs for her tour when you think about it. She sang all these tracks hundreds of times while comping the album and she'll do a few hundred more over the summer. It's why she's so good live.

Billie Eilish is a wonder: not just her vocal range and control, but how she packs each phrase with so much meaning, like it's coming straight from her heart for the first time. That kind of vulnerability is the rarest talent of all, and it's what separates the great from the merely good. Thank goodness for Billie and Finneas - they're an oasis in this often brutal world.
I would die to see her perform this song live, she sings it’s so beautifully both in studio and live. It’s sounds the exact same and makes me feel the the same heartbreaking and emotional feelings when I listen to it on recording, I CAN’T!!! The bridge hits HARD (especially with the lights, OMG), it’s so magnificent to she her progression in the music industry, I’m forever grateful for her😭❤️❤️❤️. I love Billie so much because she brings me so much peace and joy. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her music. So thank you so much Billie for your talents, you truly are THE GREATEST. 💕🫶❤️
More or less everybody sings or shrieks and cries at her big shows, so this one here is one of the special opportunities to listen to her closely and live.

@@emmanuelles116 It's not, because it's not actually exactly like the studio version. There's a lot of vocal differences in it. So either she recorded an entirely separate studio version for live playback, or (more likely) there's some backing track but she's legitimately singing live over it. It must be a huge compliment to her that she sings so well people can't tell it's not lip syncing 😂

Is anyone else as blown away by her mic quality as I am?
She usually sings out of a very sensitive, very expensive Siemens microphone. She is a master at moving it close and away to get just the dynamics she is looking for. We forget that at age 22, she is already a veteran live performer. There is also (probably) a sound engineer somewhere who can manipulate the gain as needed.
