  • Despite man’s involvement, you cannot deny the fact that the Bible is divinely inspired.
    In this lesson, Scott and I discuss how the Bible was compiled, why we have different translations, and the best translation for new believers. They also explain why there are many different translations available to us today.

    I have a lot KJV but I have been reading out of my NIV since 2006, probably because my auntie gifted it to me. I’m hearing good things about NLT and I bought for my younger cousin who’s in his early 20s. I’ll probably get it later down the road but I do utilize my digital Bible to read from different sources. I’m so loving this. Thank you 🙏🏾 😊❤

    The NLT omits a lot of Bible verses and changes words. Like I was reading 2 Corinthians 10:5 and the word “their” in NLT gave it a different meaning than “every” in NKJV. It really disturbed me so I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. Of course I’m also a writer, so I pay a lot of attention to wording.

    I normally use the New American Bible (1991) & Douay-Rhames (1971). For cross reference I will use my KJV (2017), NIV (2014), The Scriptures (ISR 2009), NRSV Catholic Edition 2008. I want to get an Eastern Orthodox Bible as well because it was the only bible written with the Septuagint for the Old Testament and not the Masoratic Text. I also highly recommend The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible.

    We can only validly know God's perfect will, concerning anything whatsoever; even the interpretation of the scriptures; through the leadings of the Holy Ghost. And to know the most heavenly acceptable version of the Bible; we must totally do away with our personal likes and dislikes. And by what I received from our Lord Jesus Christ; the KJV is the most heavenly acceptable version of the Bible. According to Him, all other translations fall short. Whoever disagrees, should make the proper inquiries, and from the Holy Ghost.

    There are hundreds of quotes in the NT from the Apocrypha as well as Church Father's who quoted the Apocrypha as scripture. There is a reason they were in the Septuagint, kept in Qumran by the exiled priests sons of Zadok, and in the Ethiopian Levites' Bible, and considered scripture by the vast majority of Christians even today.

    • @codymadison9993

      And still so much better than any other translation besides Amplified Classic.
      Unicorn means rhino, that’s still its scientific name to this day. One horn furry rhinos. Makes no sense to think it’s a horse when the context is about power.
      And man is lower than angels. Literally below them on our psychical plane and also in power. Only power we have of from Holy Spiirt.

    The making of the NIV was by people who didn’t believe that Jesus Christ came as a man in the flesh, so some scriptures downplay that subtley. There was also a Jesuit on the board of translating it, who was in opposition to Martin Luther’s doctrine. In fact there has been an attack by Jesuits on the Christian Bible specifically to Martin Luther’s protestant reformation. So we need to be aware of that. KJV is the best translation.

    John / Scott - love the analysis. I do have a question - there are a couple of verses 2 kings 8:26 and 2 chronicles 22:2, about King Ahaziah that seem to contradict his age. In the KJV one says 22 and the other 42. In other translations the age is corrected with a note stating it was a copying error. I have seen some people refute the authenticity of today's Bible because of this one example. How can we be sure there are no other copying errors? How do we answer people who point this out.

    • @kellydarrius
      @kellydarrius ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahaziah/Uzziah's father was Jotham. Jotham was 32 years old when he became king, and he reigned 8 years. Both Chronicles and Kings agree on this (according to 2 Kings 8:16-17 and 2 Chronicles 21:20). Using basic math, we know that the time Jotham was done reigning, he would be 40 years old. Around this exact time his son, Azariah (also called Uzziah), begins to reign.
      Now, Chronicles says Azariah was 42, making him 2 years OLDER than his FATHER, which obviously is wrong, lol. Kings, meanwhile, says Azariah is 22, making him 18 years younger than his father, which is very plausible. So it makes sense to prefer Kings in this case, and thus the bible corrects its own errors.
      So, now, I can either sit back and say, "Ha, the bible has teeny tiny errors, therefore it is false and cannot be trusted in the slightest." or I could be more sincere and intelligent by saying, "The bible can have errors when it comes to small insignificant details, but, it seems to correct itself."
      I'm not a scholar or anything, but people generally date Chronicles as being written after Kings. Since they have lots of the same content, and Chronicles, I believe, uses Kings as a source. We can assume that Kings is more reliable than Chronicles in the event that they seem to contradict each other.
      Insincere disingenuous fellows often will neglect to do basic work and harmonize or sort out the supposed differences in parallel passages that seem to contradict each other, like in this case.
      This is especially true, from my experience, with muslims or atheists who have already decided that the bible is false and would even go so far as to propagate blatant lies just to destroy your faith for their pleasure.

    • @jbullforg
      @jbullforg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Passion Translation is trying to be like both the Amplified, and the Message at the same time. This often leads to "over translation" where a possible meaning that might have only been hinted at is directly stated, even when the original text doesn't specify it. It's also entirely done by one person with limited oversite, so any biases of the translator are much more pronounced. (Compared to a translation that is done by a team which has more muted bias).
      I personally have found value from The Passion Translation, but it's not my primary or only translation.
