I tell you what I've done :) sheen of paint doesn't matter and actually mate is more resistant and a finish coat of polyurethane will be great.

How do you make it shine

Nothing at all 😊 remember glass must be painted underneath. That solid layer of paint (go for mate finish btw) definitely makes the glass shine more especially if you go with a dark color like I had..
To this day that glass looks like brand new:)
