- Hobby King Balsa Tiger moth 1400mm spw ,A step by step build video of this really super kit part two to follow and then the maiden flight ....and hopefully cheers and not tears ..we`ll see PB
Hi Paul, just ordered the kit, it is by far my favorite aircraft, I have studied your video I don't know how many times which encouraged me to give it a shot. Great blue print mate, thoughtful of you to put it together. likely to start the build by end of year. Cheers
Hi Paul, Although I'm not building this model I came across your two build videos and watched them both as you were building one of my favorite planes. Hats off to you on the excellent build you have completed and the excellent videos. Built a few kits in my younger days so I appreciate the time and patience you put into this model. Now that we have such good ARF's as a basis for our models I've got lazy and take the easy way to completion but I must admit it's not quite the same feeling on the maiden that you get when you are seeing something you've built from scratch flying. Keep up the good work. Cheers from "down under"
Mark
Hi Krok , thanks for your nice comments , the next one will be the 1520mm spw Sopwith Camel from hobbyKing
Fantastic Job!!! Patience is a virtue!! Well done.... Looking forward to seeing how she come out!!
Fair winds!!
Hi mr morgan heres the second part th-cam.com/video/geq0B6Kk6jc/w-d-xo.html
Excellent!
Just bought kit. Gives me a bit of confidence, seeing that it does go together quite well😊
This is kit building, which is assembling pre cut pieces with pre drawn plans. Scratch building requires drawing your own plans and cutting your own pieces. As in built from scratch. BIG DIFFERENCE!
That's kit building. But still nice to see people still doing this.
Well done Pauli, greetings from Mondsee, Markus
H i markus Ill be over soon to visit ...regards paul
Very good have been looking at one myself will wait to see how it all goes for you
Hi Not long now just finnished the covering ii took over 6 hours all in all ive been working on this project non stop the whole week so its posssible I´ll get to fly it this weekend weather permitting , regards PB
Thanks look forward to the flight vid
Looking good, looking forward to seeing the next part.

That’s not scratch building
yes those wing tips are back to front. i could just shutup. fab tigar
Hi Paul ...........We are having a nice sunny day................I refuse to talk about poxy aeroplanes Regards fredtheplonker
Wing tips are round the wrong way. I corrected this on my kit.
good day paul realy good video it is possible to have the adress for the number part tow merci thank
Hi Part two is now online although not sure of the cog conflicting forums ????? as i aid Its my first build and I´m not a professional model builder and a s far as the cog is concerned I´m still in the dark ....
This is not a scratch build. Scratch build means you drew up the plans. Blank sheet of paper and you drew the datum line, (scratch) and surrounded that with many more lines. Then you cut out all the parts from your own plans and built the plane, covered it, etc.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Assembling a kit of pre-cut parts isn't "scratch built".
How is the fit of the parts? Are the wings detachable for transportation? Any videos of the flight? Ah found the flight video
Hi Christopher , the wings do come apart and they can slip back into thier slots, retrospectly however I would have built in the two carbon tubes (included) in the wings and then two carbon round strut to slid into the wing tubes making for a better and stronger join ..thats why i dont dismantel my tiger moth I transport it in one piece
regards PB
Yes it makes sense to transport in one piece. Assembly and dismantling too many times weaken the joints.
What is your electronic spec? Motor type? ESC? In your maiden video you stated you used 4s batteries.
Thanks for the info.
Hi Christopher The motor is 42-40 aerodrive from Hobbking and I used a turnigy 80amp regler , way overpowered weigth wasnt an issue with this model I only Fly 30% throttle at the best of times . PB
Thank Paul. I will keep that in mind for when I finally decide to get one.
Its not Scratch Built...... Its a kit ...
yep someone pointed that out to me a while back it´s a kit build ,and it flies so we´r all happy then , I have another scr..kit build sopwith camel cheers pb
Not having a go mate, just a comment....
Are those kits okay, l have seen them on Hobbyking and often thought about buying some.
No offence taken Steve, these hobbyking kits are great Ive just finished the second of two kits a 1520mm spw sopwith camel and now cost`s €110,00

I´m still doing test flights for the best weight COG sollution lot´s of fun if you can sit through my long winded video`s then you`ll have easily enough pateince to build one
How do you attach the ailerons - I could not see any hinges in my kit?
Hi ,
I used the fibre glass 307000001
CA Hinge Sheet 180mmx140mmx0.3mm from hobby king , I think I may have used even thinner ones that I had in the workshop if I remember these were a bit too stiff so maybe 0.2mm if you can find some, I find by using the ca sheet hinges makes for a really tight fit with no/less gap between the wing and alieron
Hello . the lower wings are separable for easy transport?
Yes but I dont take it all apart its too much work I leave it built together and transport it in my car just about fits in Phew!
1st airplane build and the instructions it came with are horrible, I'm stuck on the first upper wing such a cool piece though
Hi Kj I hope my video helps you , I was really thrashing around in the dark most of the time , some mention that I mounted the wings tips back to front acording to the plan i didnt but anythings possible rule of the thumb is look at it the plans four times and then twice again good luck
@@paulbush8881 thank you Paul I'm too far in now to turn back so I appreciate the luck sent my way as far as ever getting this beauty in the air is a long shot and would probably break before it took off! Lolo thanks again! Take care
Scratch build means you have a plan and a load of material, that's scratch built, as good as this is sorry but it's just a assembly job,
Hello Sir,
Do you need a jig or jigs for this build?
No jigs needed , it was my first build and it all went together very well I still fly her today in fine weather as she´s rather light , I did howver dance a jig as I finished building .cheers Mr Morgen
@@paulbush8881
Hello Mr Paul,
She's beautiful for sure! Thanks for touching base, I've really enjoyed watching your videos! You did a wonderful job Sir!
Cheers!

PS;
Mr. Paul,
Since you built this beautiful Tiger, do yo think that scale 1/6th cockpits could be built and still have room for operation of the servos? I found a vendor that builds scale cockpits, I'd like to put a 1/6 scale British pilot in the rear cockpit, and a 1/6th hottie in the forward cockpit ; )..... With instruments, control stick. Throttle ..... How much room do you estimate that I'd have?
Thank you sir!!
With gratitude,
Doug
nice clippy machine
How do you get the instructions..?
Its was a balsa kit from hobby king and not as stated a scratch build.... my mistake....
happynewyearpaul...............your tips have been drawn the wrong way..........the original drawing of the wing is wrong way round
and i feel like a turkey .............maybe i should leap into a pond.
Assembling a box of pre-cut parts isn't "scratch built".
AT THE RISK OF BEING A BORE......BUT YOUR WING TIPS ARE BACK TO FRONT.
look at 8:12 and the hobbyking link and you will see that they are the same , but you had me thinking there for a while everythings possible ..regards PB ...hobbyking.com/en_us/de-havilland-dh82a-tiger-moth-biplane-1400mm-laser-cut-balsa-kit.html
i am sorry to be a bastard but your tips r back to front..............merry back to front xmas Paul Bush
Hi Fred no need to call yourself names on my account, I bow however to your cannie eye merrry Xmas
I`m like a dog with a turkey bone I just cant let it go ! ..Ive photographed the plans from hobbyking and the tips are correct (Ican send you a copy ,If however the plan is at fault then i`ll gladly concede happy new year
Hi Paul.....Yes its me again......where you got the plan from has drawn it whrong. HE HE i am getting to look like a turkey. Many Regards AVERYNICENEWYEAR.
Nice but not a scratch build. It's a kit build. Scratch means you cut the parts yourself.
Your abslolutely right Glen.... this has been already brought to my attention , although due to the absence of a good building instructions ,I did a lot of head scratching hence scratch build regards PB
It's scratch enough!! Deal with it!
where do P1 and P2 go
Im sorry but what parts are those ? i do remember having a small few bits and pieces left over , If P1 an 2 go inside the head fuel tank then I doubled them to strengthan the struts inside the tank regards PB
CAN I SHOW U MY LATEST TIGER.............UPLOAD OR SOMETHING.......frb
Thanks for your assembly video for DW HObby 1.4M Tiger Moth, adn you could get from our DW Hobby store:www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWRJ4M8?ref=myi_title_dp
How is this scratch building? You’re obviously building from a kit!
