We camp in some places where the kids can really roam and play. Oftentimes there’s enough trees or rock or terrain that the FRS radios wouldn’t reach even the short distances they would travel on foot.
UPDATE: I mention numerous times that the screen is going to sleep too quickly. The menu #5 backlight function can increase the time from 15 seconds to 30 and can be even set to continuous. I've set mine to 30 and it's much, much better!
I have them both. I currently talk on GMRS all over the state. I’m close to taking my technicians license, where I’ll make the H-8, my ham radio. Hopefully, the H-8 will do as well as the H-3, on 2-meter and 70cm.
Finally a proper unboxing 😂 Plus, it was a test to see if the radio is sturdy enough for outside operations.
Ha! Good point!
Best. Unboxing. Ever!
Unfortunately for me, I'd probably want to use an HT mostly on 2m.
Same if I’m hammin. FRS radios aren’t quite enough for our family operations, so these are good options for GMRS. Thanks for watching.
😂😂😂😂 you got me on that unboxing
I dig the USB C port. I don’t think I have any GMRS radios I should probably get a couple. 73 om

Thanks for watching! Good luck on your Tech!!!
You're not getting old at all... because if you were, I'm right behind you...
I don’t know, man. I thought I was following you! 😂
Menu option 5 on TD H3 you can set the screen timeout to be "Cont" meaning it stays on. Edit: saw your comment, nvm lol
Yup, I got that clarification from TidRadio. 30 seconds works well for me. That function could be labeled better so it’s more clear.
