- Callum and Vennila live in the Hillview area, a place surrounded by the nature reserve and the old railway track, and has the dubious reputation of being haunted. Callum from Australia was not aware of the local superstitious customs and unintentionally brought something back to his house. Vennila tried to cleanse the home but got attacked for it.

When I was younger, there was this time I had a weird encounter when my dad came back in the middle of the night from his taxi night shift, about 2am-ish as he normally does to either take a short break or use the toilet. I was still awake back then because I'm used to staying up late nights playing games with friends. When he came back, there was nothing amiss, everything was normal. But after a while, the living room suddenly began to have a strong frangipani scent. My dad asked me if I smell it too, I said yes, then he hurriedly told me to faster go sleep before leaving the house and resuming his shift. I was a bit freaked out so I went to sleep immediately. Fortunately, nothing happened after that in the house. But that sudden sweet smell manifesting out of nowhere in my living room that night cannot be explained, really.
That's why it's never a wise idea to laugh and joke about the supernatural. This guy kept laughing and poking fun during the encounter

The house fengshui not good. Odd layout. Need a lot of work to repel bad energy and maintain good energy. Not enough sunlight enters the house among other things.
And the position of the full length mirror. Shouldn’t face the bed. Position that at the base of the bed perhaps. Put nightlights in the house.
The Buddha statue would be just a normal statue if it wasn't 开光 (blessed in the temple by a priest) so that the deity can enter the statue. And if the deity has entered, you need to pray regularly to it to maintain positive energy.
Otherwise, bad spirit may enter the statue if it's just for display purpose.
Same logic for dolls and puppets. Thats why don't always buy dolls and puppets back from overseas. You never know whether there's anything that has already inhabited them.
When the sun is at its highest, from midday to early afternoon, Callum ought to expose himself to the sun more often. Not only does vitamin D support his health, but exposure to sunlight increases his vitality and yang energy. Even though his bedroom might not get enough sunlight, he can still turn on the light during the day.
Divine intervention as evidenced by the voice from the radio. He discovered his cancer when it was still in stage one and was able to recover, which could be divine intervention as well as most people only got diagnosed at a later stage. Good to see that they are chirpy and everything is ok now.
Frangipani tree has their own timing. My mum growing up in a kampung (village) back in the old days, say frangipani tree released their smell around 12am at night.

During the Japanese Occupation a Malay and Aussie contingent were holding the line to the last man in and around the Hillview area. The Japanese Commander honoured them by building a shrine at the top of the hill...

Continuing my army ghost stories. Field Camp. On the
first night after setting our tents at night,our company
commander said we can take a bath inside a hut some where near by. We were in the field somewhere in Lim
Chu Kang. Taking our things and some with torch lights
hundreds of us troop in single file wearing just our PT
shorts we make our way there. On the slope going down
hill near the hut almost near the bottom I heard a angry
voice on my left. Turning my head I saw this young lady
and give me a fright of my life. How come I never see her
nor the hundreds of soldiers in front of me and behind.
She was a wearing a white laced nightgown and carrying
a white candle near hear chest. The flame burning made
her face grow red and flickering here and there and she
had a most beautiful face. Angrily she asked me why we
making such a noise and what we were doing here. I
said sorry we were soldiers only wanting to take a bath.
Satisfied she walked away and I could she had such long black hair reaching her buttock and knee. Halfway I
heard a woman in the house asking her what is happening
and she replied it is all those army boys. I quickly took
my bath and leave. When I wrote in the comment in
SC someone wrote that what I saw was not a human but
a ghost since I am the only to see her. He asked if I had
fallen for her since she is so beautiful. I know a beautiful
lady can suddenly transform into an ugly old hag.

I lived in Blk 4 Hillview Avenue from 1978-1997. One day when i was 8 or 9, I heard a commotion outside. I saw a child dangling on a laundry pole outside her kichen widow (blk 3 back faced blk 4 front). That moment was terrifying for all who witnessed it. Then she fell to her death .. (the child was sleeping when the mother left her home alone to go to the market) That was my earliest memory of seeing something horrible.
When I was 24, I came back from a spiritual class in Bandung Indonesia.
That night past midnight, right outside my bedroom window, I kept hearing a couple chatting in a languange neither foreign nor human. I felt really scared and was shivering under the blanket..

I live in Hillview. The lizards here make a very loud sound that sounds like knocking. Some animal also whistles in the middle of the night outside my house. I find it cute, not scary.

I've grew up at Hillview Ave till I got married and moved into my own place in 2002. I've personally not seen any ghost. My late mom has narrated some stories to me of times when she stays up late. Loved and miss my neighbourhood.

My guess is Hillview Park Condo or Glendale. Yes, I had this perfume/flowers smell when I used the Railway path at night.

Here is the interesting thing about jinns. They do like to eat smoke but they don't like fragrances. So they would eat odorous smoke. So far I have heard of jinns being spotted eating smoke from a bbq pit, cigarettes and crematoriums. I am sure they would also eat smoke from fire pits and chimneys but I am kinda iffy about factory fumes. Not heard of any sightings of them gorging on the Jurong Island buffet.

For Hindus, burning that incense thing is to chase away any evil. My mum does it everyday in the evenings like put the smoke around the house and leave it outside to finish burning. But yeah, I guess different cultures have different interpretations.

@@Melovemouses - after all the house is badly designed, too many structures above head .. mirror is know for its another world.. shod your luck is down + the house may have the “it” or “bad energy”, end up you may loose your yang (good energy) feeling restless each day n feeling fxxking tired n angry each time you wake up..

Leave the incense at the door. U may close yr door after half or 1 hour. 😀
