@Millionaire Mind Set What was the horsepower of that GTM against the 700 hp McLaren (Disclaimer: The answer is not even close)? Pretty sure that GTM would give my old 93 McLaren a good showing as well.
How many horsepower was the factory 5 GTM? It was close. But the Maclaren had the edge I'm guessing it either pushed out more horsepower or it was power to weight ratio difference?
its not only engine hp..the gearbox is wery important especially now in 2017 when we have dct 7 or even 8 speed gearbox and of corse the gearing on the diff..my pref would be a german v8 or a japp dito v6 or v8 with twin turbo and a dct same engine vs an ordinary 6 speed gearbox would need at least 100 more hp to hang on to a engine with dct
Here’s the thing, why build a car like this and have a first gear that ain’t even usable. This man started in second gear for a clean launch. So let’s just make this second ratio first, third to second and so on so you can stick a gear between what would be third and that ridiculously long 5th gear this man was in. Would help out so much. And their are 6 speed options.
Custom ratios are great when you have the tools or money for it. Def a good suggestion. He needs quicker shift times before an extra usable gear would help him though.
@@aisu8481 yeah, I realize it wasn’t his choice, this is a Porsche transaxle, I’m mostly talking to the Porsche engineers. When your talking 500+ horsepower in a 2400 pound car you don’t really need that short of a first gear, and if you really want to get that 0-60 down just let 1st take you all the way to 60. An automatic is different simply because you have launch control that adjust for you. So these short ass gears are more usable, like in the c8. So yeah, this is most likely a stock Porsche transmission, I’m really just talking to them when I say this
@@LayneSteighlee yes but if first was longer every succeeding gear would be closer in ratio allowing for more overall power by keeping the engine in the powerband.
Considering that the GTM had to be built, probably cost a fraction of the price, and could always be upgraded, I'd say that's pretty respectable.
And u can treat it like a regular car with the price it's at

I wonder how the 1200hp twin turbo that Nelson racing built would have done...
Judging by these comments, I'm the only one who watched til the end. 🤦♂️
Why? It's just a drag race? Anyone can go fast in a straight line 🤣
It's about the top speed, not a drag race for time. 7mph difference for most likely a stockish LS3.

Prime example on why the GTM needs to be updated

Can't wait for the f9r super car.
GTM missed a gear. Looked like it was ahead until that gear miss to me.
Oh, wait, the GTM went into wrong gear, missed a gear. Also looks like the McLaren took a jump at the cones too.
Looked like a very wimpy start for the GTM. First time driver???

They really need a six speed gearbox
@Ryan 9638 simple answer - yes. But not many Porsche ‘street car’ owners want to slam gears. It’s nothing the box can’t handle
needs a far better shifter, looks ridiculously long to get into 3rd
nice. whats the 0-60 time on these cars? and does that 12c still handle well on the track with all that power?
3.2 sec and idk
The gtm has 3.2s 0-100
@Ryan 9638 its kph sorry for the misunderstanding

He lost a lot of rpm going to 5th.
Hah, found your channel!
Damn, you got beat bad. I was expecting a better run.
You have to watch until the end to see that the GTM is the winner
lol nope....that is just how it appears by the angle.
It lost !!! Win??? Watch the video.

Maybe if he learned how to drive???
GTM weighs approx. the same as a Fiat x19....with 450hp
