Normandy Invasion Operation Cobra launched on July 25, 1944

The American breakout from the hedgerow country of St. Lo, France during WW II was launched on July 25, 1944 code name Operation Cobra. This enabled the US 1st Army under General Omar Bradley to breach the German line. This particular battle occurred in the town of St. Gilles.
