Wow yeah that sucks. I do not know think they app caused the problem. Double check that drone is able to get a GPS lock and a "home point". I also calibrate the compass for every flight to ensure a safe flight. I've flew my drone out of range many times and it's returned by itself with no problems. Do be careful if you fly in built up areas that may have large antennas, they may interfere with the signal.
hey, the video was good but very important aspect to tell you is to never ever keep the 2 antennas parallel to each other...they cause disturbance to each other. keeping them at about 35 ish degree apart gives you the best result
Does that really help? I just got a Phantom 3 4k a couple weeks ago, and still learning as I go. At 1st, I didn't even know they spun around, so for the 1st few days, I only stood them up LOL. Then from watching vids here, I noticed people had them turned so the flat side faced the drone. And yeah, some turn them (to make a "V"). I haven't tried to get farther than 235m yet anyway. So I don't know how far it'll go.
great video, thanks. My damn 3 4k looses video feed almost after 160 feet in height. What's going on, there is also interference in my area of flight it says. Prob will get these windsurfers.
That's a shame. There so many different things that can interfere, houses with wifi, tv antennas, phone towers, satellite movement. I had to do a shoot in the city once near apartments, I kept loosing signal at a similar height of 160ft. Windsurfers will definitely help keep the signal stable :)
by the way i meant to say that i loose the FPV feed not the actual control of the phantom. But honestly I've never flown far away to test the RTH feature so i was nervous. BTW i use an iPad mini 2 with the P3 4K. the remote only has micro usb, there can't connect with a cable to the apple device. IT seems to still work fine if i cache the maps at home. Do you think using a hardline cable with an adapter will change anything?
When doing these tests part of me expects never to see the drone RTH by itself haha I've done it so many times now that I trust it (if all the calibrations and GPS is right). I have never actually plugged a device into the remote as I did have a iPhone 5 and now a Nexus 5X with usb type-c.
Thank you for your excellent review. I've just bought and received the "Winner" range extenders for 259 Baht, about 10 AUD, so I'm very pleased with this acquisition.
You are flying to low for the terrain around the beach to get much distance. I get over 2200 meters with regular antennas all the time. I have the reflectors like you but have not tried them yet.
Awesome video. I noticed everytime you get near the two high rise buildings the signal struggles - possibly from loads of WiFi interference generated from the apartments?
Thanks for the great test. I thought your 3 range limits were lower than what some others are getting with the P4P. Someone got 4 km with a parabolic reflector. I wonder if the sea breeze affects the RF transmission to the drone.
i seem to get tons of loss of signal at distance far less with those more expensive range extenders I seem to only be abloe to get around 400m...think it may be what phone i am using? i am using a samsung s6
ive gotten over 4km out of my p3p, around 2.6 miles on stock antennas with nothing else, and i still had full controller signal, just barely had enough battery to get back home. you should be able to get 3 miles out of the stock antennas pretty easily, something is wrong in this video
Hi Max, they are generic ND filters. I had a lot of issues with blown out whites in other videos. They are great but I didn't worry about the settings for this range test.
And those are screwed filters (like for the pro version) or not (like for the standard version) ? Cause I have tried to remove the original lens of my P3 4K and it seems to be locked on :/
Have you tried that mod? I've downloaded it to my computer, but I'm scared to death about loading up to my Phantom 3 4k. I've read it can brick it. Then it won't fly again..
That is not the phantom three 4K that is the phantom three professional which also records in 4K. The phantom three 4K is just the phantom three standard with a 4K camera on it.
I believe that's what I was commenting on and I'm well aware of that. That dude said he just had a phantom 3 4 k but the remote control he has is clearly remote control from Advance or a professional series I believe we are on the same page I don't know why you assume I don't know what I'm talking about I fly these things professionally. Dick...
Sven Wiechers he's only flying a P3-4K. It uses wifi. Your p3A, like my P3Pro uses lightbridge. It has a much farther range. I've had mine out 5 km and brought it back because I was afraid of battery life. My video is on my channel.
Sure you have a 4k, and not a pro? Just wondering, cause I just got a Phantom 3 4k a couple weeks ago. I've only kept in, in sight (about 240m). So I have no idea how far it'll go.
Thats not too bad l use the range extenders and easily get 5km . Not willing to push it any further . Still got to get the bird home . 😄 Thats on a p3 advanced ...
Great video and a big help brother. Subbed ya, my name is Donnie and I'm a reviewer on my channel so swing by bro. Thanks for the video it will help for my upair one
+kaio4k in terms of range yes. The P3 4k has the range of the Standard and the camera of the Professional. I was more interested in capturing video and photos than actually flying the drone, hence the reason I choose the P3 4K. But it was bad in areas with lots of intefence, the antennas help keep the signal stable. I'll properly never fly far for a normal shoot

Finally got a link for all those wanting to know where to get them :) amzn.to/2gTugt6
Are you from Denmark?

Nice Jeg kunne rigtig godt lide din video :)
Morgan Hvidt german pls thanks

Nice plain simple and straight to the point test. Thank you.
+Photojunky Drone Zone Vlog Glad you liked it ☺️

i wonder why people plug cables into them, what is the purpose of that? i have not seen a single video on here that explains it. lol.
I know that the P3A and P4P also remote charges devices, so I can only assume the P3 4K does the same :)
Thank you for your excellent review. I've just bought and received the "Winner" range extenders for 259 Baht, about 10 AUD, so I'm very pleased with this acquisition.
+RX 450h Executive you got a awesome deal! Glad to have helped 😎

I have the DJI Phantom 3 SE are there range booster for that drone too?

Awesome video. I noticed everytime you get near the two high rise buildings the signal struggles - possibly from loads of WiFi interference generated from the apartments?
You need to fly a lot higher than 30m altitude for long range, try 120-150m and should fly 2km with stock antennas.
Did you take off the plastic film covering?
I really liked this video
Great comparison. Loved your homemade extenders though
Good times with those!
How you eliminate the warning pop-up window “Safety notification.” from iPhone 11 pro when you use DJI 3 Standard?
great test. I have a phantom 3 standard and may try those before I buy a argtek range booster set.
Thanks!
i buy this antenna but in city doesnt work fine its a lot of interference... wich antenna do u recomend me in this case
Awesome upload. You made a real easy decision for me. Thanks.👍👍
Thanks for the great test. I thought your 3 range limits were lower than what some others are getting with the P4P. Someone got 4 km with a parabolic reflector. I wonder if the sea breeze affects the RF transmission to the drone.
That's not a pro. It's a 4k, like mine. They don't go as far as the pro does. So that is actually pretty good for this model
if you would go higher than 30m, maybe don't drop the signal after 700m. With my p3s in that area like you tried i can go as far as 1600m
So with just 30 dollars you get 900 more meters
defenitly buying one right now
Me too!
best simple test i have ever seen, good job.
Thanks for the tip, How many time did you test for consistency?
i seem to get tons of loss of signal at distance far less with those more expensive range extenders I seem to only be abloe to get around 400m...think it may be what phone i am using? i am using a samsung s6
Excellent test I think is the best and accuracy test that a could find . Thanks! Regards from Guadalajara Mexico.. I bought one of this antenna!
My p3 on stock does 1.8km 🤷🏼♀️
ive gotten over 4km out of my p3p, around 2.6 miles on stock antennas with nothing else, and i still had full controller signal, just barely had enough battery to get back home. you should be able to get 3 miles out of the stock antennas pretty easily, something is wrong in this video
very nice comparison video
Will this increase the fpv WiFi signal aswell??
It started to bother me why it only reached 600 to 700m, then I read the description, and it explains everything. It's a 4k not a PRO. lol
What are your dji app
What kinda drone u got? I thought they can go 4 miles
where was the cable between the Phone and the controller?
André Rijo its wifi based
André Rijo is the 4k not the proffesional
just do a diy remove oem antennas add a amplifier and conect some helicals antennas and see maby 5k+
Hello, what are the filters you are using with your p3 4k?
Hi Max, they are generic ND filters. I had a lot of issues with blown out whites in other videos. They are great but I didn't worry about the settings for this range test.
And those are screwed filters (like for the pro version) or not (like for the standard version) ? Cause I have tried to remove the original lens of my P3 4K and it seems to be locked on :/
Yes it is screw. Be very careful and gentle if you can, it is extremely tight and people have been breaking the original lens trying.
Max Max I forgot to hit reply first :P
Is this test running CE or FCC standard?
Get up to 100 meters and with the regular antennas you will get around 2km, with the reflectors I get around 3.2 km range.
regards from Holland
Are you flying the Phantom 3 Professional or 4K? Regards from Australia 😄
Evert Franzen echt?? Maar jij woont denk ik in een dorp met weinig populatie (dus minder wifi😅) die jou signaal verstoren...
Great video, thanks! That is a beautiful location! Do you mind if I ask where that is?
+MeesterVegas thank you for the kind words. It's the beach in Dawesville Western Australia. Good beach for surfing 🙂
Bro i really hope that you try thy magic power mod 27 dbm..its only program your original antenna to max...you will be the best
Have you tried that mod? I've downloaded it to my computer, but I'm scared to death about loading up to my Phantom 3 4k. I've read it can brick it. Then it won't fly again..
even more reason to go phantom 4, I can can go 2700meters without anything to extend its range.
That is not the phantom three 4K that is the phantom three professional which also records in 4K. The phantom three 4K is just the phantom three standard with a 4K camera on it.
You have no idea what you are talking about
Hahaha! Ok buddy, please enlighten me then
Google Phantom 3 4K and you will know. Has the same reach as the Phantom 3 standard and no light bridge like the advanced and pro.
Dick...
No its it the remote from the Phantom 3 4k is the same as on the advanced Just with no light bridge
does this also work for the dji phantom vision 2?
Yes it will, It would even work for your home wifi network :P
***** does it only extend wifi range or also fpv range? bc i've an external fpv system on my phantom
very good test! Thanks!
Thank you for watching David :)
Nice test...Had my home made ones almost made till I was the end..lol
Where can i buy the premium extenders
Send me a link please
+andreas spanias you'll be able to find them on eBay and Amazon. Search Phantom windsurfer antenna
+andreas spanias you'll be able to find them on eBay and Amazon. Search Phantom windsurfer antenna
Ok thanku very much
I can't understand...I got a range about 2km without problems without any extender....
+Philipp Walder sounds like you have the P3 Professional or advanced
Morgan Hvidt yeah the professionel but you have also the pro so i can't understand why your range without anything was only 700m???
Looks can be deceiving :P It's the Phantom 3 4K. Looks like the Professional, has the Professional camera but not Lightbridge range technology.
Morgan Hvidt ahh ok
good comparison mate
Gotta laugh at all the people who think it's a PRO. Good video thanks.
Justinator8400 aha 😂 Thanks!
i dont know why your signal is that weak my p4 can fly more than 4000m with no extenders but today i buy one and we will se whats happend
That's because the Phantom 3 4K is only rated up to 500m. It lacks light bridge technology :P Let me know if you get an improved with your p4!
great video
FCC or CE ?
with my phantom 3 4k and the exact same range extenders I can get over 3000ft away from me and thats not it losing single
Guersey With A Drone 3,000 ft? You mean 30,000? Dude 3,000 I can get stock no problem
re did my test I can get 12000 ft now
Guersey With A Drone ok that's better lol
You are flying way too low to get good distance. Try the same with hight of 100 meters. I got 2300 meters distance with P3A, stock remote, ce mode.
Sven Wiechers he's only flying a P3-4K. It uses wifi. Your p3A, like my P3Pro uses lightbridge. It has a much farther range. I've had mine out 5 km and brought it back because I was afraid of battery life. My video is on my channel.
My phantom 3 4K doesn't go further than 15 m
AVinos same with the phone screen display
???
I found out that it goes 500m when using a phone but with an Ipad it goes only 15m.
thx for the demonstration
+Tee Platinum you're welcome, hope you found it useful :)
A good, no-bullshit, Aussie test. Thanks...
Cheers mate
hi just subscribed
my phantom 3 4K goes 5000+ ft without boosters.
Sure you have a 4k, and not a pro? Just wondering, cause I just got a Phantom 3 4k a couple weeks ago. I've only kept in, in sight (about 240m). So I have no idea how far it'll go.
Wow! Thanks man!
Thats not too bad l use the range extenders and easily get 5km . Not willing to push it any further . Still got to get the bird home . 😄 Thats on a p3 advanced ...
Only a 1 mile range with extenders that’s crappy
greath test!!!
thx for this viedeo

Great video and a big help brother. Subbed ya, my name is Donnie and I'm a reviewer on my channel so swing by bro. Thanks for the video it will help for my upair one
Thanks big time !!!!!
800-1600m is a joke. My p3a can do >4000m without any fancy antennas
+kaio4k that's because it's a P3 Advanced :P My P3 4K sadly lacks the lightbridge technology.

dont need booster, phantom 3 pro go 2 km
yes the Phantom 3 Pro has the wonderful lightbridge tech 😀
But my drone have a problem, he lost signal at only 200 meters!! The screen freeze (black end white), end i cant do nothing!!
Bump
I just picked up the ones from Best Buy for $6.00! I hope these fuckers work>!?
Did they?
