You can spec an S-Line with SE suspension, which keeps the rides firmness to an acceptable level

I have the 2015 facelift. It is a really up market car. Especially the craftsmanship, details, all are milimetric. Mini can't even get close qualitywise. And the new 1.6 116hp engine is efficient and very nimble. Buy the sports option and you're not gonna relize any change if you downsized from A3 like i did. My bro also has an A6 and he got shocked after seeing the qlty.

So at the end this guy said the A1 is spacious?? He must be kidding...this car, like the Mini, is everything but spacious

Agreed! It's a joke that so many reviews seem to say you can fit adults in the back with no problem. No headroom whatsoever so no way you could take adult passengers in the back. Think it looks fantastic and has a lot going for it but it seems a bit of a pointless car - if you want an Audi hatchback get the a3 and if you want 2 seater the TT.

Obviously you do not own one.
The car is based on the Polo, which is very spacious indeed.

Infact I have a Mercedes A Class ... Which is bigger (even though rear legroom isn't fantastic either )
The POLO is very spacious, because it's got a taller body and a more boxy-like shape in the back, so that one is comfortable (like a CORSA or a MITO)
I drove an A1 1.6 tdi : it's quiet, rides quite well (like they Vw Polo indeed , which shares the same platform and mechanics) but the interior space is tight in my opinion, even in the front seats area, as for headroom
I felt it to be almost claustrophobic, sorry.

I have owned an Audi A1 Sportback for 18 months now. I often fit two adults in the back with no problem at all. My daughter is 6ft and she has no issues. I personally found it perfectly comfortable. My dog also fits in the boot no problem (which isn't the case for my wife's Mini Cooper S). As a family car it has been perfectly usable. To say there is no headroom whatsoever suggests you don't own one and is therefore rather pointless of you to comment.

Bryan Neighbour Hi Bryan. The comments made were based on the three-door model, which we maintain, has tight rear space. We notice that you have the Sportback which our reviewer refers to as being roomier. Our full comments on both the A1’s bodystyles can be found here: www.autotrader.co.uk/content/audi-a1-hatchback-2010-expert-review

Ive had my A1 Sport TDi for nearly six months, and as you say, there is sufficient room in the back for two adults, and the boot is spacious enough for a weekend away.
It certainly has more room that the Mini, and rear visibility is much better than the Mini as well.

It's no more expensive than the BMW Mini, and comparing like for like, both vehicles are similarly priced.
Spec either a Mini or A1, and the cost will spiral to serious money, but buy a standard equipped vehicle, and the A1 looks good value, but the fun in ownership will be lost, if a few nice toys are not ordered.
The A1s build quality though, is in a class of it's own, no Supermini, including the Mini is as well screwed together.
