  • Exploring the Northern Red Sea, we decended into a strong split current, about 50m behind the main group.
The main group went North West then South as planned but myself, Sue, Barry & Elize had no option but to continue South West, then North or fight a current for 60 minutes... I always take note of the current location and coordinates of the boat, ship or area before diving.
Blessed underwater, I have never not found my way back. On this day I had two options, cancel the dive, call the boat, get on, relocate and re drop, which is safety first or….. Iet’s explore.
We have about 70 dives with Barry & Elize and together we dived in great conditions and in difficult conditions, they follow the dive plan and know the rules.
On this dive, I will lead and Sue will be backup. Before the dive I also informed Barry to take coordinates of the ship as he always carried a compass, if we had to loose each other, they can find their way to back to the ship… ¾ divers had their compasses with them.
    Dive Plan
We will ride out the current and keep it low and close to the reef....be safe and follow the oceans way. Staying low and shallow and find our way around the current, while exploring the reef is basically our only option at this time of the dive…
20 minutes later we passed this cave within the coral and saw the welcoming entrance with sunlight dimming a spooky blue entrance.
This became our way home in tunnels underneath the reef back to the boat.
What an incredible dive this was... total dive time around 80 minutes on Nitrox
