P.s. the close-up of the swatch card was fabulous, as you tilted it the colour changed from orange to coral and it was so good to get a look at that. Thank you!
Diamine is crushing Colorverse on their advent calendar. Love Grotoo and yesterday’s ink also. Wish I’d bought a calendar myself this year. Thanks Danielle for continuing to give us great input and information.
I agree that Diamine is doing way better than Colorverse so far. Luckily with Diamine they usually do almost the whole calendar if not the whole calendar into full bottles, so there's a chance to pick up the inks you love :) Glad you are enjoying Inkmas!! 🎄
I think this ink is so cool! Btw when you say experimenting or changing some of the ink colors - have you shared that in a video? Would be interesting to know how you play with colors that maybe you don’t care for a lot!
I haven't made a video of ink experiments yet, but maybe I will do one in 2025! I think it would be a bit of fun a also really surprising to see what happens 😊
Whoooo look at that collooorrr!!! Loooove it Diamine - Firefly, Coral Pilot Iroshizuku - Fuyu Gaki Sailor Ink Studio - 473 Lamy - Red Pelikan - 4001 Brilliant Red
I love it. What I am discovering about myself, totally unexpected, is that I go for the assorted Reddish tones the way you go for the greens. I am totally surprised. I always thought I was a purple person - I guess I was until I met inks.
When I saw this ink I thought What! Orange! I was not happy at all. I thought with a name like Grotto it would be black or grey. Orange is not really one of the colors I like. I definitely didn't think I would like this ink at ALL. BUT, I put it in a pen this month and I'm kind of liking it, not nearly enough to buy a bottle, but I do like it now. In a pen it seems to look less orangey, and a little to the brown side. That sheen looks green to me though, not yellow, on both your video and my own writing and swatch.
It is a wild ink! I think the sheen does have a "green" look to it on the wearingeul card, but on my TRP it is really golden looking. Glad you're enjoying it even though it is a color you don't typically go for!
This one was so cool! My favorite so far is Cranberry. I have that in a big juicy architect and have been writing holiday letters and to-do lists with it. I need to try this one in a broad nib or a stub!
Love this one, and surprised at how well it dries...granted I have it in an extra fine nib (still crazy sheening), and it's not smudgy! I love sheening inks, and my previous fave was Trouble Makers Simoun, but that one smudges even after leaving it for days! For sure Grotto and Cranberry my new fave sheeners. So far there's only one ink I TRULY hated and don't see myself being able to use, as I also generally only write with my inks
I'm in the same boat! I love sheening inks, but I hate the smear/dry time. Birmingham Pen Co is the only other brand that I have had great success with sheening inks. Grotto is in my top 10 now for sheening inks though. So cool!!
@@mydandeliondiaries I need to try birmingham pen co, I havent had a chance to yet, but really itching to try inrtsteller bronze, next time I'm buying ink I need to pick that one up!
I suppose 'Grotto' refers to 'Santa's Grotto'. Right now there are many many shopping centres in the UK where you go to 'Santas grotto' to have your picture taken with Santa. Usually quite pricey. My local one also has two days where you can take your dog to meet Santa. ;)
This one I loved the base color, but the sheen wasn't my favorite. I will try this in a pen to see if my opinion changes because that has happened many times. Your writing sample looks really nice. So gives me hope.
This one blew me away! I LOVE it!! It is so crazy and there is nothing like it, especially with the sheen!! I want to draw a mandala with it and see all the crazy bits shine around hehe
I have absolutely loved watching both the diamine and colorverse inkvent videos you've posted. Do you have any groups you can direct us towards if we are new to fountain pen ink collecting, where people maybe swap inks? I would love to grab one of these advents, but I know some of the inks would sadly die abandoned in a desk drawer XD It would be great to find an ink buddy who happens to love colors I hate and vice versa, I just don't even know where to begin!
I would check out some fountain pen reddit groups! Or even on facebook there are fountain pen enthusiasts and other groups that share a lot of FP/ink content. I'm not sure about swap groups as I am lucky to have this platform to do swaps with, but I imagine that any of the reddit/facebook groups would have more information on swaps!
Nice color on the swatch but another dud in the writing sample. Don’t see the point of chromoshading, sheen, or shimmer if it doesn’t appear in one’s writing. We’re buying the inks to see the effects in our writing not just on our swatch cards. So far I vote for zero of these inks to be offered in large bottles Colorverse ink is expensive. They need to do better given the cost of their inks!!! We need to use our power as consumers to demand high quality in our inks and pens.
"Campfire on a page" is a great description of this color!
It is so cozy and warm!
Super nice this one...warm and firey
It's like a cozy fireplace in ink form! 🔥
oh wow, this one is sooooo fun!!!!!
This is the first color I would rush to buy. It's terrific!!! Signed, a brown/orange/green 70s color fan.
😂 Love your comparison to the 70s colors!! It is spot on!! 🧡💚💛
That is SO NICE ❤ ooooh not seen an ink lile this before!!! Beautiful! Definitely staring into the flames of a cosy fire vibes!
P.s. the close-up of the swatch card was fabulous, as you tilted it the colour changed from orange to coral and it was so good to get a look at that. Thank you!
I love this one! It is so fiery! And completely unique with the sheen. Crazy!!

@ Yes please! Would love to see!!!
Whoooo look at that collooorrr!!! Loooove it
Diamine - Firefly, Coral

Sailor Ink Studio - 473

It is fiery and fabulous! 😂

I always find that inks surprise me! I am drawn to certain colors but then I will try a random pink or orange and bam, I love that too haha
When I saw this ink I thought What! Orange! I was not happy at all. I thought with a name like Grotto it would be black or grey. Orange is not really one of the colors I like. I definitely didn't think I would like this ink at ALL.

I really like this one!
When I swatched it, it has a fuchsia pink stain on my thumbs! I’m going to have to go back when it dries and see if the color has changed☺️
How cool!! I wonder if it would be more pink on other papers!
This one was so cool! My favorite so far is Cranberry. I have that in a big juicy architect and have been writing holiday letters and to-do lists with it. I need to try this one in a broad nib or a stub!
I would love to put either of these in a super flexy pen and just play with letters haha. Glad you're enjoying your inkvent!!
What's up ダニエル! I saw a swatch of this in Atlas' short (must watch) and I am in love. 🥰💜
I will have to go check it out!!

How fun!! That is really neat! I would love to take my dogs to meet Santa 😂😂 I think they would just bark at him 😂😂
When I swatched it, it left a fuchsia pink stain on my thumb! I’m going to have to go back when it dries and see if the color swatch has changed☺️
I'm not a red/orange ink fan, but I really like this!
I'm not a fan of oragne, nor of sheening inks, but I can see myself using this next autumn
It is so unique! I feel like if fire were an ink, this would be a good embodiment 😂
This one I loved the base color, but the sheen wasn't my favorite. I will try this in a pen to see if my opinion changes because that has happened many times. Your writing sample looks really nice. So gives me hope.
It writing the sheen is not as in your face as the swatch. I am interested to see how it does with smearing but only time will tell!
@ yeah smearing is definitely another concern. Since I write mostly with fine and extra fine Im hoping I won't experience that much.
This was one of my favorites so unique!!! Was super stoked for this one.
This one blew me away! I LOVE it!! It is so crazy and there is nothing like it, especially with the sheen!! I want to draw a mandala with it and see all the crazy bits shine around hehe

I think this was meant to go under the Colorverse ink, but I agree we do need to put our money towards things that are quality and what we want :)
