I'm surprised no one has pointed this out. But there's a section in Arkham Asylum where Joker has flooded a room with laughing gas. One of Joker's goons is left behind in the room and you can clip the rope he's holding onto with a batarang to send him falling into the laughing gas where you hear him burst out laughing until he dies.

I tried killing a guy in the first Arkham game by heart attack. I took out all his buddies in view of him, then proceeded to torture him mentally and physically for thirty minutes watching his heart rate skyrocket. Finally I got bored, hit with a batarang and pounced on him sending him over the railing to a 20 foot drop, blew up some plastique I had there and purposely launched him into and then "knocked him out" with a finishing blow. So Rasputin killed him.

I think Batman's killing rule is more like "TRY not to kill INTENTIONALLY". Maybe with his acts he kills people but he has it like the last resource you have in any situation. And, like OP said, this video is more a consecuence of players than Batman itself.
As for the first instance you mentioned: that is exactly why Batman is so scary. He doesn't kill people, but makes them wish they were dead by injuring them so badly they can never live normally again, as well as suffering from mental trauma.

Played it recently. When you are gliding around the room you can throw the batarang to cut his rope before you clear the gas. He falls and once the room is clear he is dead. Maybe my game is screwed up or something, but he can be killed.

Batman's moral code is way wonky. Like, for example, in Under the Hood with Jason is confronting him for leaving the joker alive, which means abandoning his own utilitarian ethical views by allowing many to die by protecting the Joker. Not only does Bruce refuse to kill the joker, but he also insists on protecting his life - meaning Batman would have a real hard time with the trolley problem. Jason calls bullshit & attempts to kill the Joker and Batman literally slits his own son's throat - risking KILLING his own kid - to save the Joker's life. If Jason wasn't as skilled in his Batman-disappearing act beyond all reasonable logic and miraculously got medical attention he'd have fucking died by Bruce's hand. He chose the Joker over his own kid, adopted or not. That's some really weird ethics Bruce. Really fucking weird.

Try reading a damn comic book, guys. Jason was officially adopted by Bruce back in the 80's, before he even adopted Dick, making Jason his first child despite not being the eldest or biologically his. He's legally his son, case closed. He's as much a Wayne as Dick, Tim or Cassandra are. Not really, but there in spirit. What matters is Bruce sees him as a son. As for the throat slitting thing, I was talking about the comic book version of that story, not the heavily censored animated version. In Batman Arkham Knight, you can straight up kill people with the 60mm canon on the Batmobile. This is how: go over to one of the mines in the city and wait until a thug comes along. When he is next to the mine, start uploading the virus, because then a bunch of drones will arrive. Then get the thug to stand next to one of the drones. In battle mode, aim at the drone and then quickly switch targets to the thug and shoot. The thug will get hit by the canon, and if you check his body in detective mode after the battle, it will read deceased.
@@trisztanharai4113 u tryna give me an English class "it will read deceased" also I confirmed that the thugs get hit by rubber bullets which incapacitate them and the drones that are unmanned by the way are destroyed by the larger cannon also I am not saying that that's how the Physics would work but I speak purely canonically as in according to the laws of the game. Technically everyone he knocks out unconcious ends up dying. I noticed in Arkham City that if you knock someone out and read their vitals in detective mode it says they are "unconcious" however if you walk away and come back a little while later and go in detective mode again it would say they are "deceased". Batman leaves people he just brutally beat up to die all the time in the games.

In Arkham City I encountered a glitch where I managed to attach a guy to one of the gargoyles on the outside of Wonder Tower. I cut the rope with a batarang and he fell all the way down. I don't think he made it.

Deadpool You weren't supposed to be able to attach people to those gargoyles, because if you cut the rope they would plummet all the way down. Also when I pressed the button for the takedown, Batman shot off the gargoyle at a 45 degree angle towards the thug. It definitely wasn't supposed to happen.
I accidentally killed too people in Batman Arkham Knight.The first was in mission to destroy a Penguin weapon cache and there was one of the brutes which i left for last because they are the most difficult and because he lost me too much health i got angry and smashed him to the door of the weapon's room. When i went to close the door he was in the cage door and i said to myself:"No the door will just push him away" but it didn't.The door was just some mm higher from his body.I look through detective vision and it said unconsious.When i blow it up everything fell on him and i looked and it said deceased. I like how Batman's detonation clay is "non-lethal". You can try to convince me all you want that an explosion powerful enough to send people flying through the air won't cause severe external and internal damage, but yeah-not happening.

In arkham city I pushed a guy on a roof right up to the invisible wall preventing them from falling off and did a ground takedown on him which made him fall head first off the roof. The game's physics killed him so... LOOPHOLE!
Cyrax How much do you know about Grundy? From what I've seen there was a time in the comics where Grundy was killed. Each time he would later resurrect. DC comics has had Grundy killed and eventually resurrected quite a few times. He has been crushed, torn a part, incinerated into ash, and during his revival as a black lantern pushed into the sun. What I'm saying is Solomon Grundy can die, he'll just resurrect eventually normally at the swamp he originated from.

ok here's a theory towards the B-man: in almost every incarnation (comics, games, etc.) he seems to be ok with letting people escape to tell their bosses whats going on, FULLY AWARE of the fact that these bosses, in almost every outcome (especially in the comics), kill those messengers out of a fit or whatever so basically he's ok with killing as long as it is second hand? quite the loophole

Batman leaves a lot of criminals in the street of Arkham City with broken bones. If these bones aren't fixed, bone marrow will leak from em' and go to their heart and kill them or can cause breathing problems as they can go to the lungs and clog up small blood vessels.
Dont forget that oracle keeps track of EVERYTHING batman does. So eventually she´ll send some help for those guys. except for the people in the wonder tower, those blew up in pieces when that shit exploded. in bats defense it was strange who rigged and blowed that shit
in arkham origins there is an entire rooftop filled with bad guys that has a VERY glitchy edge ,allowing batman to break the laws of physics by destroying the atoms of his foes, send them flying at least 25' in the air, and make them occupy the same space as a building

I was re-playing Arkham City not long ago, and during a predator encounter at the top of Wonder Tower, I was able to hang an enemy from a gargoyle which was on the outside. I'm not sure how I was able to do that, considering there aren't any balconies underneath the gargoyles around the tower. Nonetheless, a few seconds later, I cut the rope he was hanging from and watched the man fall thousands of feet to the ground below; surely, a fatal fall.

When you're on the gargoyles on either side of the balconies outside, do an inverted takedown on a TYGER. Since the gargoyle isn't directly over solid floor, the guy will have nothing under him when he's hanging. Hit the rope he's dangling from with a batarang, and he'll fall down...down...down.
Then he should have just let Joker fry and 'left him as he is' and let him off himself. He didn't kill him. Joker killed Joker, all Batman did was 'Not kill Bane'.
almost at the start of the first game I glide kicked a guy in to gotham river, pretty sure being fly kciked buy a guy moving about 30 mph through the air would kill you or at least knock you unconsious. so he either died of blunt force truma or drowned.
In AC, I did an inverted takedown on the final mission in Wonder Tower. I used one of the gargoyles outside, and a glitch happened. The rope didn't spawn and the soldier fell from the tallest tower in the game.
Well. I once hit a sniper in AO with a batarang so that he glitched into the floor. I haven't found his body yet. Or the other guy in AC I hit with a batarang who then seemingly glitched into an house. Haven't found his body yet either. But hey! At least it was the glitch that killed them?😁

In batman arkham asylum, you can find a guy (who is still alive) hung up over a poisonous gas cloud, and just cut the rope. I found that really amusing.
It's not "can", it's required to progress. He falls through a ceiling revealing the control panel to disable the gas. Batman then says he needs to save him quickly and shut off the gas.

If you really must know, it's a combination of muscle memory, something I have to do at work, and Google screwing up the comments section. this is a time (not in the arkham games) I technically killed someone I wasn't meant to kill, in AC 3 in the overhearing George Washington mission one of the constraints is to not kill any guards, I got around this by suffocating them from behind so, at least according to the arkham games, this meant they were unconscious, I then tossed one of them off the cliff in to the raging freezing cold sea hundreds of metres below, but it said I didn't kill any guards, meaning he must still be unconscious. he's definitely dead, I tossed him hundreds of metres down (die from fall) into water (he's unconscious so he'll drown) that's freezing cold (hypothermia) and in a storm (knock him into rocks) and also he could have gotten a concussion from the rocks if he bounced off them. but the constraint said he was still alive so LOOPHOLE!
That definitely should be a thing. If you do that in (Ahem... Arkham Beyond) The game over screen would be old bruce saying. "You broke the moral code.", or "I wish I never saw that happen. If we want to get technical, Batman could very easily be charged with virtually every murder committed by the enemies he continues to defeat and have locked up, and who invariably escape every time. For legal purposes the 3 main attributes that would see him prosecuted quite easily are: A person causes a result knowingly if he/she knows that the result is virtually certain to occur from the action he/she undertakes, A person causes a result recklessly if he/she is aware of and disregards a substantial and unjustifiable risk of the result occurring from the action, A person causes a result negligently if there is a substantial and unjustifiable risk he/she is unaware of but should be aware of Those 3 points essentially summarize 3 of the 4 degrees of culpability used within the United States legal system. Long story short, if Bats were brought to an actual legitimate court trial, he'd be in some serious trouble.

Heh, he didn't go that bad when Jason Todd (second Robin) died, and he was like a son to him, so I don't think this will happen in the main universe. Although, if you read the comic series Countdown, several characters do go to a universe where the world is at peace because Batman went apeshit over Jason's death, and killed ALL of the supervillains.

Actually, if you look close enough at enemies once downed in Arkham Asylum, you can see their stomach will be slowly moving. Apparently, this was included to make sure they didn't appear dead. This little thing seems absent from Arkham Origins though.
Anyone else think that zooming around the city in the Batmobile (Arkham Knight) then running into/over people in the street at high speeds DEFINITELY equals them dying? So many people don't realize this, but Batman used to kill and he even used an actual gun at one point in his career. The "no killing" rule didn't come in until later.

I'm surprised no one has pointed this out. But there's a section in Arkham Asylum where Joker has flooded a room with laughing gas. One of Joker's goons is left behind in the room and you can clip the rope he's holding onto with a batarang to send him falling into the laughing gas where you hear him burst out laughing until he dies.

I took out all his buddies in view of him, then proceeded to torture him mentally and physically for thirty minutes watching his heart rate skyrocket. Finally I got bored, hit with a batarang and pounced on him sending him over the railing to a 20 foot drop, blew up some plastique I had there and purposely launched him into and then "knocked him out" with a finishing blow. So Rasputin killed him.

Played it recently. When you are gliding around the room you can throw the batarang to cut his rope before you clear the gas. He falls and once the room is clear he is dead. Maybe my game is screwed up or something, but he can be killed.

Like, for example, in Under the Hood with Jason is confronting him for leaving the joker alive, which means abandoning his own utilitarian ethical views by allowing many to die by protecting the Joker. Not only does Bruce refuse to kill the joker, but he also insists on protecting his life - meaning Batman would have a real hard time with the trolley problem. Jason calls bullshit & attempts to kill the Joker and Batman literally slits his own son's throat - risking KILLING his own kid - to save the Joker's life. If Jason wasn't as skilled in his Batman-disappearing act beyond all reasonable logic and miraculously got medical attention he'd have fucking died by Bruce's hand. He chose the Joker over his own kid, adopted or not. That's some really weird ethics Bruce. Really fucking weird.

Jason was officially adopted by Bruce back in the 80's, before he even adopted Dick, making Jason his first child despite not being the eldest or biologically his. He's legally his son, case closed. In Batman Arkham Knight, you can straight up kill people with the 60mm canon on the Batmobile. This is how: go over to one of the mines in the city and wait until a thug comes along. When he is next to the mine, start uploading the virus, because then a bunch of drones will arrive. Then get the thug to stand next to one of the drones. In battle mode, aim at the drone and then quickly switch targets to the thug and shoot. The thug will get hit by the canon, and if you check his body in detective mode after the battle, it will read deceased.

Technically everyone he knocks out unconcious ends up dying. I noticed in Arkham City that if you knock someone out and read their vitals in detective mode it says they are "unconcious" however if you walk away and come back a little while later and go in detective mode again it would say they are "deceased". Batman leaves people he just brutally beat up to die all the time in the games.

In Arkham City I encountered a glitch where I managed to attach a guy to one of the gargoyles on the outside of Wonder Tower. I cut the rope with a batarang and he fell all the way down. I don't think he made it.

Also when I pressed the button for the takedown, Batman shot off the gargoyle at a 45 degree angle towards the thug. It definitely wasn't supposed to happen.
I accidentally killed too people in Batman Arkham Knight.The first was in mission to destroy a Penguin weapon cache and there was one of the brutes which i left for last because they are the most difficult and because he lost me too much health i got angry and smashed him to the door of the weapon's room.
When i went to close the door he was in the cage door and i said to myself:"No the door will just push him away" but it didn't.The door was just some mm higher from his body.I look through detective vision and it said unconsious.When i blow it up everything fell on him and i looked and it said deceased.

DC comics has had Grundy killed and eventually resurrected quite a few times. He has been crushed, torn a part, incinerated into ash, and during his revival as a black lantern pushed into the sun. What I'm saying is Solomon Grundy can die, he'll just resurrect eventually normally at the swamp he originated from.

Batman leaves a lot of criminals in the street of Arkham City with broken bones. If these bones aren't fixed, bone marrow will leak from em' and go to their heart and kill them or can cause breathing problems as they can go to the lungs and clog up small blood vessels.

I was re-playing Arkham City not long ago, and during a predator encounter at the top of Wonder Tower, I was able to hang an enemy from a gargoyle which was on the outside. I'm not sure how I was able to do that, considering there aren't any balconies underneath the gargoyles around the tower. Nonetheless, a few seconds later, I cut the rope he was hanging from and watched the man fall thousands of feet to the ground below; surely, a fatal fall.

When you're on the gargoyles on either side of the balconies outside, do an inverted takedown on a TYGER. Since the gargoyle isn't directly over solid floor, the guy will have nothing under him when he's hanging. Hit the rope he's dangling from with a batarang, and he'll fall down...down...down.

In batman arkham asylum, you can find a guy (who is still alive) hung up over a poisonous gas cloud, and just cut the rope. I found that really amusing.
It's not "can", it's required to progress. He falls through a ceiling revealing the control panel to disable the gas. Batman then says he needs to save him quickly and shut off the gas.
In one of the sewer levels, I knocked a guy into the water. The water that wasn't flowing, that he never came back up out of. Yup, he dead.

this is a time (not in the arkham games) I technically killed someone I wasn't meant to kill, in AC 3 in the overhearing George Washington mission one of the constraints is to not kill any guards, I got around this by suffocating them from behind so, at least according to the arkham games, this meant they were unconscious, I then tossed one of them off the cliff in to the raging freezing cold sea hundreds of metres below, but it said I didn't kill any guards, meaning he must still be unconscious. he's definitely dead, I tossed him hundreds of metres down (die from fall) into water (he's unconscious so he'll drown) that's freezing cold (hypothermia) and in a storm (knock him into rocks) and also he could have gotten a concussion from the rocks if he bounced off them. but the constraint said he was still alive so LOOPHOLE!
I found Bruce a lot more agressive in Arkham Origins. The way he just kneed criminals' necks after interrogating them on the floor

If we want to get technical, Batman could very easily be charged with virtually every murder committed by the enemies he continues to defeat and have locked up, and who invariably escape every time.
For legal purposes the 3 main attributes that would see him prosecuted quite easily are:
A person causes a result knowingly if he/she knows that the result is virtually certain to occur from the action he/she undertakes,
A person causes a result recklessly if he/she is aware of and disregards a substantial and unjustifiable risk of the result occurring from the action,
A person causes a result negligently if there is a substantial and unjustifiable risk he/she is unaware of but should be aware of
Those 3 points essentially summarize 3 of the 4 degrees of culpability used within the United States legal system. Long story short, if Bats were brought to an actual legitimate court trial, he'd be in some serious trouble.

The only difference is in one case his ridiculous "morality" actually ends up making more people suffer and die, while in the other case he would shoulder the burden of murder himself, essentially man-the-hell-up and do what needs doing.

Heh, he didn't go that bad when Jason Todd (second Robin) died, and he was like a son to him, so I don't think this will happen in the main universe.

I always assumed that the guys I took down as batman were actually dead. I mean, they never seem to wake up, no matter how much time you give them. And they don't move at all on the floor.
Actually, if you look close enough at enemies once downed in Arkham Asylum, you can see their stomach will be slowly moving. Apparently, this was included to make sure they didn't appear dead. This little thing seems absent from Arkham Origins though.
