Artists drawing themselves to an unrealistically attractive standard annoys me like hell. I like drawing myself because I play around with my flaws for comedy, like over-exaggerating my nose or my double chin.
But what about those fat fucks that draw themselves as a square faced hunk? Those are hilarious, don't hate on them

The "body shape doesn't match the character you're cosplaying as" thing tends to get especially, amusingly atrocious when the character in question has a very odd body shape that the cosplayer tries to replicate, e.g. Gecko Moria, Bartholomew Kuma, Imperfect Cell, Frieza

@@ianlinn596 matt groening is estimated at 190 pounds by an unverified website I found that looked good for stocking. Homer is canonically 240 pounds. Homer is only 2 inches taller, so homer is probably fatter by weight. Also the cartoonish belly is bigger than groening's. So yes groening probably does animate himself skinnier, but he's not fatter than homer, at least not by volume or weight.

LowDefinition no, I think it’s less of a gender-divide and more of a personality divide. The Sleepycabin guys are self-aware and have good senses of humor, so they display a level of self-deprivation in their art. I’ve definitely seen unfaithful representations of artists both male and female. The guys and gals who usually draw themselves as super attractive, super cool badass characters are full of themselves and usually not great artists.

@@sourpuss5951 yea! i always loved how katie teidrich from awkward zombie draws herself. as a teenage girl i was super happy to see a chick draw herself kinda just as a. person. a cartoon person.not really trying to make it look hot or make it look ugly. it was always either a gorgeous anime girl or a hideous goblin creature. hers is just expressive and silly like any good cartoon character should be, and still a pretty good likeness ! if a little unflatteringand exaggerated. it's very down to earth where her only punchlines are not "girl is hot" and "girl is ugly" which as a chick is so refreshing. it's hard to escape that looks concerned mindset, and tbh guy and girl artists are both guilty of over focusing on looks when drawing girls. some guy artists still do that "Blondie" thing and will only draw silly fellows and hot babes in completely different styles lol and nothing in between unless she's an old woman or something. sometimes we all have to be willing draw women not really hot or gross but just kinda fun and stupid looking like dagwood
