  • Honeygar, our first ‘wilded’ site, is managed very differently to our nature reserves and is a major project for Somerset Wildlife Trust.
In November 2022, we installed four Song Meter Micro sensors from Wildlife Acoustics, from which high-quality data is collected and analysed by Wilder Sensing, helping us to monitor the variety of bird species at Honeygar.
Wilder Sensing uses an Artificial Intelligence Software solution designed to support investment in biodiversity through high-quality data and analytics. Audio is analysed along with other data sources to produce actionable insights into the status and trends of biodiversity. In short, it enables a more evidence based approach to addressing our environmental challenges!
Monitoring birds in this way enables us to gain insight into what species are currently present at Honeygar, and over time as habitats change, any transitions in species population estimates and visit frequency.
You can help nature return to Honeygar too, by donating to our Honeygar Appeal: www.somersetwi...
