Great distiller. Excellent video! I bet if the runoff tube were inserted into the side of a collection receptacle that was sealed, almost 100% of the distilled water and steam could be recaptured. Great design. Cheers.

Slick! This looks much easier to use than my regular Gravistil, which is heavy, awkward, and much slower than this at distilling. I mostly just use it for filtering water (when filters are available which has been a bit of a problem). I loved the idea of a convertible piece of equipment (and always wonder why anyone would get something like a Berkey that can only do one thing) but honestly I think this lightweight distiller is brilliant!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the benefit of the gravi-stil is that it can operate like a gravity water filter or as a water distiller. The enhanced gravi-stil will still out produce just about ever distiller on the market, but you're right it is a little more complicated. We've had replacement filters in stock for quite a while now that the shipping systems are moving again.

Please mention the distilled water output per hour. Thx.

So, hey, I just received my D-Stil Lite and I have some comments. This unit needs silicone/rubber gaskets around all of the mating surfaces, not just the top, like the universal adapter plate at the bottom and some O-rings between the hose barb. Otherwise, I'm finding I lose too much water to steam or dripping around these gaps. In the case of the hose barb, it seems to be losing distillate faster than it flows down the stainless steel tube. It just leaks into the plate and then back down into the pot again via the small crack between the adapter plate and the stil (it's only tack welded together at four points). Without these modifications, my unit stalls out at some point and it stops outputting distillate. Btw, I've found that a clear Pyrex baking dish works -fairly well- (edit: actually, not great because it's not as heavy as a fully loaded stock pot and doesn't weigh down the adapter plate as evenly as it should, allowing steam to escape) as the evaporative cooling reservoir with the added bonus that you can monitor the distillate as it drips into the basin below 😁
P.S. That being said, my bottom pot does have a flared lip, so maybe one with a more straight lip would seal better around the plate?
    P.P.S. Nope 😮‍💨

Hey Mike. I just sent you a message through Amazon. Give me a call at the shop in the morning. Amazon wouldn't let me see your video. I would be happy to help you trouble shoot your system and get it working correctly. 612-888-7583.

@@ShtfandgoThanks for the tips over the phone and the additional information about the product. After experimenting some more last night, I did manage to seal all the visible leaks with the clamping force from the nearly full upper pot. I might still try to find some food-grade silicone tubing to split and wrap around the bead on my lower pot.
The area around the hose barb eventually seemed to "settle in" after heating for a couple sessions and stop leaking. There actually is an O-ring in there. Might need some snugging up. I was warned about the hole in the stainless being razor sharp if anyone feels like disassembling the barb, so nota bene.
All in all, the D-Stil Lite is a fairly versatile piece of kit once you figure out its idiosyncrasies. I do lose about a third of the output to steam compared to my electric distiller, but I think I've dialed in the sweet spot with my induction stove where I can still volatilize off the VOCs while retaining the maximum amount of distillate. More heat is not necessarily better. Plus, I can have the induction run for 3 hours on a timer and have it automatically shut off. That's about enough time to bring the apparatus up to temp and distill a little less than a gallon without completely cooking off all the water and burning the mineral residue at the bottom. I also added an immersion recirculator (i.e. sous vide stick) to the top pot to get it to evaporate quicker. SHTFandGo says they sometimes just have two pots of water to swap when one gets too hot. That sounds like a reasonably simple solution. I'll probably also change my plastic water jug for a glass or stainless receptacle. The hot distillate leaches out bad smelling plasticizer from the jug I hadn't noticed when I was using the cooler output from my electric boiler.

Which rocket stove is strong enough to use with 2 stock pots full of water along with the D still lite?
