I'm honestly really shocked on how negative most of the comments are under this video. On many average channels people buy/ "haul" plenty of things and nobody seems to be really concerned. And here comes Ingrid and changes the game (at least for my taste) to the better and most of her viewers only focus on the price of one pair of jeans. I would rather pay more for a few things, which are maybe even socially fair (You mustn't go to topshop like her, you can even find stores which sell "fair fashion") than easily spend 100 $ on 10 things. Please start to mind the enviroment as well, we only have one planet earth.

She stated in the video that $100 pair of jeans was reasonable for H E R not everyone else. That's her budget so just figure out what's reasonable for you according to your budget. ♥️

Akua Tufuor Exactly! Personally I don't care much so most my jeans are around €30 but for example, my dad does buy €100 jeans.. he's been buying the same pairs for years and he likes them so yeah, each on their own.

It seems like you're trying really hard to find something to mad about. Again, she said it was something that she was willing to do, not something that everyone was willing to do. Let her spend her money how she likes, jeez.

I get that but that’s more of an issue with our government. It seems kind of unfair to go at this one person for the failings of the system. Nothing will come from chastising one TH-camr on how she spends her money, especially when she does take the time to donate and put good things into the world. Voting and expressing your opinions to your elected officials will actually go towards creating a better future, where hopefully the rich pay their fair share in taxes and the less fortunate will have better opportunities. Choose your battles, attacking a specific person instead of going after the system won’t help you.

Having a smaller wardrobe with good quality items also reduces waste! It's good to think about if the company you're purchasing your clothing from is making efforts to be environmentally conscious and if it is treating its workers fairly!

    A) A decent steam iron and a good quality steamer are really not that expensive. Working in a men's clothing store, we had a great high powered steamer that would do one pass over a folded dress shirt and remove the creases from the fold. I highly recommend steamers.
    B) Another thing with trends is: is it a trend that will become your personal style? For example, those pointed toed stilettos everyone was obsessed with years ago; some women hated them because of comfort, while others loved them because of how it highlighted their look.
    C) 300 dollars for an acrylic sweater? Brand. 300 dollars for a hand dyed angora wool sweater? Quality.

My little sister got a big time job right out of college recently that has a more business casual dress code and I introduced her to Madewell because of you. She dresses a little more masculine as well, so I thought she'd like their more "middle of the road" clothing. They're stuff is definitely more along the investment piece route for a 22 year old, but she's really pleased with her purchases.

Over the past year I've been getting rid of TONS of clothes that I don't like/wear and have been replacing most of my clothes (especially tops) with secondhand shopping! Fortunately the city I'm in has TONS of amazing thrift stores. It's been a blast reinventing my wardrobe this way because you really have to HUNT for what you want and you save hundreds by thrifting.

  • @jencasey316

I totally agree about steaming instead of ironing saves so much time. Also hanging clothes right away helps keep them from wrinkling and smoothing out the wrinkles before hanging to dry helps too. I make a lot of my clothes to make sure they fit the best so I have some dresses in my closet and in regular use from 10 + years ago because when you spend a week sewing something you keep it! (Also you picked the fabric you wanted and the pattern you wanted and combined them how you wanted so it always works for you - and I buy my patterns on sale when they get marked down to $1 - $2 twice a year then get the fabric when I find something that I think will look amazing with one of those patterns or as a souvenir when I travel abroad so it has a story behind it too.)

LOVE your section here on checking materials for quality! It's so true. Sometimes something can look great but if you look at the material you just know it'll start to pill or tear as you launder it. Or like you said it is made of the same material as a far more affordable item.
    Thanks for the great video
(Ps. I really love the pink and grey sweaters you mentioned. You always look so pretty and put-together in them!)

I love how you treat clothing woth respect and give them a worth again! Way to many things lose its value with our insane way of consumerism these days. Everything gets cheaper and cheaper even though that is just not the case. If you buy cheap clothing, someone, somewhere is paying for it! It always makes me aware of how important it is to treat the workers woth respect by looking into how and where the clithing is produced! Thank you so much ingrid for this sustainable video :) have you watched the documentary "the true cost"? It is crazy, it really changed a lot the way i see fashion. Maybe you want to check it out, it is on netflix :)

I love this video. I'm still trying to build my own closet so that I won't have to go buy new all the time and always have something I feel like I can wear and feel good in. I have one problem though. Whenever I get something new and great which I feel like is great quality and that I've spent a little more on, I tend to grab that whenever I need something and then it ends up wearing up before I can buy anything else, and that kind of sets me right back to the start every time.

This is actually a really helpful video. I expected some same old nonsense about incorporating neutral colours and basic singlets which we're all aware of but the materials got me thinking. My wage bracket is much smaller than hers but I get where she's going with it. Check materials because some simply won't last as long as others and you're basically just throwing away money in the long run.

This was very helpful. I think I need a massive clear out! I also think I have too many different patterns and prints (I tried to get away from "too much black"). I addressed this by buying lots of plain t-shirts. I also love cardigans and I can "calm down" a print with a solid color cardigan. I bought loads of cardigans from Marks and Spencer here in England as they are known for high quality and reasonable prices - in the USA I got lovely cardigans from Target! I get lots of compliments here when I wear dresses from Old Navy. The other important thing is (as my mother said) "accessories can make or break an outfit" so shoes, jewelry (USA spelling!), handbags, scarves, tights, etc. all have a role. Ingrid, can you do an "accessorizing" video if you haven't already?

Can you make a video on your favorite stores to shop at and what you like buying at that store?

Right on Ingrid! I always try to spend more money on timeless pieces and less on trendy. Target is a perfect place for trendy pieces. Also do you have any suggestions for people who wear a uniform most of the week! I say this because I never know what to wear while I'm off from work except for sweats. Please help!
