Lux and I watched this this morning Hashem and it’s such an in depth and well done review. You are very knowledgeable and always cover everything the viewer would want to know. Also awesome to see keks supporting the Aussie channels! 📸🎞️👌🏻
Really in depth review and thank you for the detail on it. Not sure about all of the buttons and the battery draining that another user touched on. I've got the reflx lab which is less than half the price and it does a great job for me.
Just got mine yesterday. I have a Fuji STX-2 and the light meter is really difficult to see in the viewfinder in even moderate sunlight hence the purchase of the KM02 so so this is really useful to me thank you
I have just got this meter in the UK. As per normal, things cost 30% more over here for some reason. I got this meter because i find the LEDs on the top of my TT Artisan meter and the markings on the dials difficult to read in sunlight. It also goes through batteries quite fast. I do have other small Sekonic meters BTW. I have two suggestions for Keks. Inclusion of a slider to actuate a lens so that the operator could have 5,10 and 30 degrees readings and also a rubber cover for the USB-C charging port. It is wet in the good old England most of the year. The rest seem to be fine.
Hi mate, I really am enjoying watching your videos. I own a Leica M4-P and really enjoy using it again (boxed up for god knows how long...). The M10 is something I use often, but have slowly moved back to film. Film is bloody expensive to say the least. I get most of my film photographs spot on but now and then need a Light Meter. I don't own a "proper" light meter as such, but I just ordered KEKs using your discount code and thank you Hashem. This should make my photography a little bit more accurate, confident and more importantly FUN! Just playing around with the different types of films available and there is a really fascinating film in the UK, it is a 35mm B&W film only £2.99 a roll (36 Exp) and has an interesting really interesting story behind it. It is the Ilford FP4+ motion picture film official name 517. When I am next in UK in a couple of months time plan to use it. Take care mate. Roubs
@@pushingfilm I like the M4-P simplicity, but if it could have been more "plain" stealth like and not so much Leica symbols etc that would have been better. May be I have to go for the M-A in the future. By the way did you sell your M-A?
At that price point I’d always recommend the sekonic twin mate which has the reflective and incident meter. It is cold shoe mount as well and shows multiple shutter/aperture combinations. Well that is unless you really want a smaller size then this one is the best I’ve seen so far from the compact, led display ones.
7:20 - thanks for making an honest review. I have this model in silver since 1,5 years now and this is the biggest drawback imo. It's really not that easy (at least for me) to remember all the buttons functions. Especially since I don't use it all the time. And that is the second problem I have. The battery drains really fast if you don't use it for a while, most times it's than almost no battery left if you want to use it... other than that the design and functions are great I'm hoping for a new version with better battery and marked buttons.
I need to sell my meter as I have never used it after buying it. Sunny 16 has been my go to not knowing it. Since shooting since my high school days and not picking it up after not shooting film for a good 20 years. I set my setting and go for it as we all know that film loves light! Lots of it depending on the look you want from the film you loaded. Always a great video and product review Hashem.
I've been on the edge of pulling the trigger for one of these meters for some time. I have a number of meters of various sorts which I bought over many years, but I looked at this one to go on my various older semi-collectibles, dating from the days before every camera had a built-in meter. In my case, either my Canon VIT rangefinder or my Konica Pearl IV 645 folder. With a 15% discount here, it's time to buy.
Buy I did, from the US. With a small sale running, plus this website discount, I saved more than $20 US. Shipping is surprisingly reasonable for these days. Net total was about $100. The ordering website is a horror. Just know that you are not limited to PayPal for purchase as first indicated. Just keep blindly plowing though the order process, and you'll eventually get it done with bankcard or debit account. Tip: Although nothing states it, you have to first set up a company account before you can get very far into the order process. If you do not, your order will just freeze part way through the process. They are British, so what can you say.
Last update. The meter arrived from Hong Kong - one week, door to door. In hand, it seems almost too small. My old, old eyes may have to adjust to that little screen. Given the huge numbers of custom settings and features available, the instruction manual is far too minimal, but videos like this one tend to fill the gap on the finer points. One small point not mentioned here or in the manual: When the meter is connected to recharge power through the USB cable, you can read out the charge status by pushing the "on" button. Try to keep the change between 90% and 15% to extend battery life. (The USB-C cable supplied to too cheap. It fits the meter connection poorly. Got Kindle? Use that one.) Overall satisfaction? Very high!
@@Ian-gp9xuHello I just received my KM-Qr designed specifically for the Rollei. Haven’t installed it yet onto cold shoe, but the numbers are upside down so they can easily be read while on the cold shoe. Found it on the KRK website, and it’s very small.
Ok frustration right now is that the device has no numbers on buttons,?and instructions are for KMQ not KMQ-r. So for me it’s challenging to flip instructions so I can follow for device installed on Rollei. Haven’t been able to find video or pdf instructions designed for kmq-r option.
@@pushingfilm Thanks for the reply. Interesting info - didn't know they varied that much. Maybe comparing a few apps on different phones could be an idea for a video, provided you have access to different phones.
I’m wondering if I made a mistake in getting the kmq-r instead of the one where I can invert the screen. There are no instructions for the kmq-r and it’s probably due to a flaw in how my brain is wired but I’m having difficulty Applying the existing video to the Rollei version!
It probably wouldn't be recommended by Keks, but the battery does seem replaceable. I saw in the JCH review that he opened it up to reveal a simple 3.7V Li-Po cell inside, which you can get for a few bucks on Aliexpress, etc. I can't tell if soldering would be required, but it's nice to see that its accessible (if it dies a few years down the track).

Strong Aussie representation in the analog space is good to see!
Hey thanks very much, I worry I get too tech on some things 😅 Glad you both liked it 😁
I don’t even do film and i want one after this review 😂
What a little beast, they thought of everything. Great video and perfect explanation of everything 🤝
Thanks man! 🙂
looks good, just bought it and your coupon code still works, yay! Let's see how it works
Great! hope you like it too

Have mine since it first released, my battery last more than 6 months without use, not reli an issue to me.

Very cool this will be great to use with older 35mm cameras that use selenium light meters that don't work anymore.

How would this work on a Rollei 35 where hotshoe is on bottom of camera?
It has an option to flip the screen!

Thanks, this was interesting. It would be useful with a comparison of accuracy with a smart phone app too.
Thanks, noted! The problem is, smartphone apps accuracy can vary significant from phone to phone, even with the same app.

Very excited to see what this can do, will be nice to have a step between my phone and a sekonic 😂

I like my KEKs but I don't love it. I constantly mess up because are so many buttons. I prefer the simplicity of the Doomo D, but the KEKs is solid.
That's fair! I'm yet to try the Doomo ones.

Nice review…….ill be picking one up for my m3
Nice! it fits perfectly on Leica M cameras 😃
I’m curious about this in comparison to the hedeco lime 2

I really wish these hotshoe meters would support flash metering. That's something I just can't do with a metering app
That would be cool!
To bad it doesn't have a user replaceable battery... I was going for this, but I think the Hedeco Lime 2 wins :)

been running one on my Canon P for the past 2 years, really makes you see the bullshit of Voigtlander's INSANE pricing for theirs.

you should have bought m6😔
