The ticking sound is soothing to me. It conjures up something wonderful and rather nostalgic, appropriately enough like one would expect in a clock repair shop. I appreciated the video. It was educational and very well done.
Thank you for this! I've only just started on clocks as a hobby. I have an unknown manufacture of likely 100 plus years. Guessing german. No markings but for the "29cm" stamp on the front base plate. Since england wasnt metric til 70s and french movements look different (as i've seen in pic's), i'm guessing german. I got the clock running but i'm thinking the springs are dirty. The time side gets slow and if you wind it too much, it just sticks. I release some tension and the spring seems to glide easier. With no fancy winder, THIS was what I needed! BTW. I DO like the ticking in the background lol. ITS A CLOCK SHOP! I bet it gets REALLY lively on the half and hour times lol!
This video is being re-released in a week's time, with the sound of the clock movement ticking on a test stand removed. If you like the new version, other re-releases will follow. Thanks for your comment.
@@ScottiesClockWorld Well just a bit of constructive criticism. It's best to remove it as it disrupts your good teachings in the video. Apart from that it is quite annoying.

Good video (ticking sound background is annoying though) this is the RIGHT way to remove a spring without a winder. thanks !
The ticking sound comes from an Ansonia clock on a test stand at the end of my bench. Thanks for your comment.

@@Ajord1043 It is soothing, but it's just too loud when we need to hear him speaking.
Thank you, I knew that it could be done like this and you have shown how and safely as well. Eye protection always too!

Why the annoying clicking noise in the background
That is the sound of a mechanical clock running on a test standon my bench.
