Here are some tips from Silvia: Columbia is a very selective school, but one thing that I really liked about the application process is that they look for a person, not a number. Obviously it is important to have a good GPA and good ACT/SAT scores, but just having those isn’t guaranteed to get you accepted, and not having the best scores doesn’t guarantee you a rejection either. The best advice I could give you is to make YOU shine through your application, in any way you can.

Silvia is a GS student so she lives in a different dorm than CC/SEAS students. All her friends lived in Carman last year so she really recommends living there for first years! It’s newly renovated and it’s where most of the freshmen live :)
I attend Columbia’s School of General Studies, so the dorms are a little different than the traditional Columbia College ones. The name of my hall is Fairholm
