you are marvelous in your instruction, comments. I just 'found' you, subscribed & will follow w/ great anticipation. Seriously, I've painted for years - and - learned so much today. Thank you.
Thanks a lot for watching, Lolita! I try to keep it simple and share my experience, so much of these techniques, used by the masters, can help our own styles! Cheers and see you around!
Thank you so so much for your videos. Whenever I feel an artist block your channel is my go-to inspiration. I also take notes from your tips and guides, you already occupied pages in my journal!💜
Thank you thank you thank you! What a wonderful breakdown of the process! I am headed to a plein air retreat tomorrow and really really wanted to experiment with the Van Gogh style - will be sure to tag you if my work is good enough for social media 🙌❤️
Thanks a lot! There is another video about Van Gogh but I used watercolor and gouache for a portrait of my wife. Technique is about the same, but you might want to check it out!
Thanks! There is a video about Cezanne (Paint like Cezanne in 7 easy steps! th-cam.com/video/DZl0Oo5Wu8w/w-d-xo.html) I will try to do a landscape in his style soon
Great job. I have made some reproductions of Van Gogh's works and I will base myself on his way of thinking. Thank you very much for your work, your videos are simple and objective and that is excellent.
Dude, your brilliant. I've learnt a lot from you. From watching this video, on how to paint van gogh style. I'm sketching a building, from graphite. And using van gogh, sketching style. And after, I'm going to go over the graphite, using watercolour, glazes. And some the last stage of the sketch, watercolour painting will be in, dry brush style. To help the picture stand out more. From the back of the picture.
I'm doing all of the sketching and painting in van gogh style. But I'm going to use the watercolours, colours, that J. M. W. TURNER used. Got to let you, imagination run off, from time to time. He's my main influence, on art. I use his style on, sketching and painting, most of the time.
Thanks so much for the fantastic video! I recently went to an Immersive Van Gogh exhibit and I've been yearning to get the acrylics out and give it a try. Hopefully it goes well, I'll try to be bold :)
Hi Charmaine! I’d say you certainly can achieve some of the same effects. The idea is to let the different layers show through the surface in between the thicker brushstrokes (or in that case pastels)… it would require a bit of adaptation, I guess… but I am not really into oil pastels… can you layer different colors without mixing them?
Sir, you have a fantastic teaching style, it makes your tutorials wonderful to watch. Would you be interested in offering an actual art course via zoom? Or even via you tube?
I do use a very limited palette : Black(sparingly, as I usually prefer brown+blue) and white, yellow ochre, Vermillion, Cerulean Blue and Burnt umber. a bit like a variation of the Zorn Palette. I sometimes complement this with other colors when I need a more complex and particular hue : purple, vert-de-gris, lime green... that type of things... having said that, I find that, for "classical" portraits and landscapes, the limited palette is already fantastic, although a more "modern" style would call for maybe more popping colors (Maybe you can replace the ochre by a yellow?) Hope that helps?
Do you use a brand that has Vermillion- if so, will you tell me which it is? I can't find it online and have searched online and there does not seem to be agreement for an alternative to that color - closest seems to be either Cad Red L or M. What do you actually use? Thank you. I have enjoyed several paintings using your Van Gogh style - not ready to post yet...bold and colorful. I would love to see more LANDSCAPE videos in the Van Gogh style, acrylic version. Thank you.
@@mygeekfamilycotton I have spent hours trying to purchase individual colors of Pebeo - I see they have the PR188 Vermillion Red....can't find out how to purchase here in the states. I will try to contact them direct next week. Thanks, Lolita
@lolitakaloustianyoung7787 I know they are distributed in USA, but not sure how widely… I guess you could substitute for a cadmium red, that maybe more readily available?
