He's wonderful---such a fighter! I think he think Little Monkey is a great name! Saskia you have called him that and with such love in your voice, you can tell he responded to that name--monkey. I am so glad!! Thanks for a great video!! Nice to see Scotty a part of the video too!
So those orphaned babies are going to make it then? Last live you had me worried that they may not when you said you weren't going to name them because you weren't sure. I'm really glad they are making it.💕🐹🐹
WAIT.. you're originally from Holland??? I live in Belgium! Saskia, ik heb nu 2 cavia's sinds een drietal maanden. Ik zo enorm veel geleerd van je video's en ik wil je hier voor bedanken. Mijn 2 dames hebben het super hier bij mij 🥰
So glad these little ones are doing so well after the loss of their momma. Thankfully they have the wonderful people at LAGPR supporting them and a few surrogate mommas to help fill the void, especially for their mental health so they feel protected. I actually just got 2 guinea pigs from the cousin of a neighbor and... shew... They came in a 2 foot by 1 foot cage that had a tiny bit of wood shavings for bedding and a few tiny ripped up pieces of some kind of foam stuff that looks like it came out of a couch cushion or something similar, 1 small water bottle, an empty plastic throwaway bowl I'm guessing was for food and no sign of hay or veggies, nothing to hide in/behind/under. They "think" one is male and the other is female and have seen them doing the "piggy handshake" several times so if they are a mixed pair, I'll be separating them and on baby watch. I haven't wanted to mess with them too much as I can only imagine what they've been through already in the past few days being shuttled around from place to place 3 different times that I know of for sure and if it's a male/female pair the damage has likely been done so I got the foam pieces out of the bedding, added more kiln-dried pine shavings, gave them an absolutely enormous pile of hay (for eating, hiding and playing), filled the water bottle with cold water and put a frozen water bottle in to help keep them cooler (it was 100°F here in southeastern Kentucky today and my apartment was about 84°F at the hottest part of the day), then gave them a good amount of veggies and a bowl of pellets. Once all that was done, I tried to mostly leave them alone in the quietest part of the house to decompress but checked on them frequently and if they spotted me, I'd talk quietly to them but didn't try touching them or getting them out. Hopefully, they will be accepting of a health check in the morning, I'll determine the sexes and then go from there. One pig is slightly bigger, possibly a month older maybe, and it's spine is more peaked than a healthy piggie's would be, which makes me think it's underweight for sure but may also be in the beginning stages of scurvy. Gosh I hope I'm wrong about the scurvy, but I do have liquid vitamin c, bell pepper and leafy greens and I bought the 50 pound bail of Timothy hay from Tractor Supply at the beginning of the month and have *maybe* used a pound or 2 of it so far with my 2 piggies and my rat and mouse colonies (they like it for nesting). [Sorry for the long comment. Just hoping to get some support/encouragement from like-minded individuals since most people in my area don't seem to understand my need to rescue exotic animals like guinea pigs, mice and rats, lizards, snakes.. if it needs a home and I have space, I take it and if I can't take it personally, I do everything I can to help find it/them a new home. These 2 are supposed to only be here until they're healthy and then be adopted out, but depending on the sexes.. I'll have to wait and make a decision after sexing them.]
((awww 🥰 thank you Saskia))my Squeakers was a runt, the runts are the ones that i always fall for because they need a lot more love ❤️ and care that i love giving them(( i more than Appreciate ))what you do for all the guinea pigs and the other animals to 💐💐💐💐🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹
Y’all are amazing! When I was younger and my mother thought I was responsible enough to have a pet, she bought me a Guinea pig ❤. I loved her so much. She was white so I named her Blanca.
I am so happy the babies are doing well (they are the cutese little piggies i have ever seen.) As for their mommy I am sorry she passed away. Thank you for the feeding information things like that are very helpful
Awww this is what one of my piggies that we rescued looked like (the black one )but older he unfortunately died about 5 months later But he had a great time here with the other boys we bonded him with his name was venom and he was 5-6 yrs old and I was wondering if u could name him venom
I am taking care of a baby rn that I rescued with a momma piggy, the momma was so bad off that she didnt make it, lil one eats solid food and gets some milk still with critical care as well but the biggest issue is that she is covered it mange and lice (I have taken the risk of using ivermectin with guidance of the vet) but she still is scratching a lot and really bothered by it. she weighs 150 grams now and I hope she will make it.
Hi Saskia and Scotty, I adopted 3 girl piggies one was already pregnant, do I leave my pregnant girl in their C&C cage with her sisters when she gives birth or should they be separated? I'm very nervous, this is the first time experiencing this I appreciate any advice you can give me!!! Thank You so much!!!
I know this is late to this video but do u have a video on helping babies go a toilet by stimulating it? Raising a 3 day old under unfortunate circumstances
In your previous video you mentioned babys should be separated from mommy at 3 weeks if its boys... My question is, how come you still feed milk at 3 weeks? Dont they start to eat on their own by then? Do they still need milk at that age and why not just leave them longer with mommy?
We have a one week old baby guinea pig whose mom died the day after birth. We've been feeding him lamb formula and puppy formula. He started losing hair three days ago so we started adding a lot of vitamin C drops. He looked better yesterday, but today he's lost more hair. We were trying to add some vitamin A and D along with the Vitamin C, and we're trying to figure out what he'll eat. He prefers formula over trying food. What vitamins are we missing? Do you have suggestions on getting him nutrition other places? (He seems pretty healthy though his squeaks are quieter today, and he has been bonding with another older female who's treating it like her own baby.)
I should call him Sofus. Sofus as a boy's name is of Greek origin, and the meaning of Sofus is "wisdom". When you smal you need to be smart. :-) Greetings from Denmark.
Poor mama piggie, RIP. 😔 Why is it that so many other rodents are born hairless, blind, and overall just underdeveloped, but Guinea pig babies come out looking like tiny adults? They remind me of how baby reptiles are as newborns, more-so than any other mammals I can think of. 😅
I had the shock of my life the other day walking into the bedroom to see that we had babies and to my surprise they look full grown and now two days later they're eating hay😂
Munchy as he's so hungry 😋
Yes 😊
Chai as his momma was Chamomile. So glad the littlest is doing so well
Or Lapsang since he’s so dark…
The two first has got so chunky, yay! And little one, Giacomo, I'm so happy to see him doing so good
I'm just glad these little orphans are gonna make it. Saskia had me worried last Saturday that they might not, but now it seems they are,💕🐹🐹
@@ITIsFunnyDamnIT mhm! I'm so glad, too
The lighter furred baby makes me think of a wombat ❤ that would be a cute name for that little one :)
Ah how very cute. Sad that the momma died but at least, they are very well cared for.
I am sad for their momma! God bless you for all of the work you do for these wonderful piggies! I love their little noises! 😃
You take such good care of your babies! You have such a hungry baby right now!
He's wonderful---such a fighter! I think he think Little Monkey is a great name! Saskia you have called him that and with such love in your voice, you can tell he responded to that name--monkey. I am so glad!! Thanks for a great video!! Nice to see Scotty a part of the video too!
