Furthermore, that 2 for 1 or 1 for 1 is often in monocultures; devoid of a proper diverse web of life. Furthermore, all too often, companies will plant and go. Don't forget that trees often die from lack of water, disease, extreme weather, thunderstorms, etc. They need care. The norm is to meet quota and walk away. In ALL instances, salvaging beautiful wood with history; charm and that would otherwise end up in landfill is a very positive thing and the results are often very charming and full of character. If that avoids some trees from being chopped down, to me, that's a win-win.
@@Kraftmade what I mean is, I don't have a nail gun and I don't have the router bits for making the tongue on the boards so if I make this how I can attach the boards without the nails and that tongue on the boards? Can I just use glue and clamps to make it? Thanks for the reply!

Thank you! It is directly in the middle. I can't remember how wide it was but it doesnt really matter. You just need to split the table in half to start your pattern.
@@Kraftmade I dont get this, if the middle piece is exactly in the middle then when I remove it the first row of diagonal boards will be half the measure of the middle piece to the right, then when I put the left diagonal boards row it will be slightly offset to the right of middle of the table. Obviously if you the left of the table then that won't matter but I think the middle piece should be to the left of the middle of the table when you start putting the right row and then when it's removed the left ones will be put exactly in the middle.
I am making g a wood table for laundry room. Would this type of wood swell with humidity from heat from dryer? This is my first time doing this. So Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
All wood swells from heat and humidity, some just more than others. Honestly though I wouldn’t worry too much about it, just make sure you are using dry wood when first building it
Are the boards you use laminated/layered like plywood or are just grooved solid wood. I was thinking of using the latter, but I'm afraid of wood movement.
Mofjell1981 the wood I used is 100 year solid old reclaimed. so it has plenty of time to dry out. Unless you are using 2x4s most wood is dried to the point that it will hardly move. Wood movement is over exaggerated in this community.

Food for thought. Most professional companies that chop down a tree for lumbar use, plant 2 trees for every 1 tree taken down. It's not a 0 sum game.

Technically the edge of the guide piece is in the middle of the middle of the board.

I didn't because the wood came that way but you certainly could if you bought wood that didn't haven a tongue and grove.

I didn't but I bought I bought it from a reclaimed lumber place that sealed it. So there is a seal coat on it, i dont think there is any stain.
