This gave him zeus's strength and his mother's power but he was still mortal. When Heracles died his mortal part crumbled to ash on the pyre of Olympus while his soul was reconciled by Hera and he was married to a goddess becoming a God. I have never seen an account of this or anything similar happening to Achilles and would love to read more of his legends.

If the normal cap is 325 for magic and physical damage, that + 85% of itself means you get, in 6 second spurts, _601 Protections, _*_BEFORE things like damage mitigation effects._* CB + ED + DB + Prophetic Cloak + Gauntlet of Thebes + Mantle of Discord, potions and your relics of choice (Fortifying Shell and Bracer of Brilliance are always fun) will make you borderline indestructible while providing solid CDR% and speed. And if you have someone providing the protection auras (like an aura ares or sylvanus), you can focus more on OTHER ways to make yourself harder to kill or harder ways to kill everyone else and be an veritable juggernaut.

Yep, i believe the formula for damage resistance is prots divided by (prots plus 100), so if you have 100 physical prot, its 100/200 which is 50%, 300 prots is 300/400 or 75% resistance
the formula for the damage you take is 100 / (100 + protections), so at 0 prots you take 100% damage, at 100 prots you take 50% damage, at 200 prots you take 33.3% damage, at 300 you take 25% damage, at 400 you take 20% damage, at 500 you take 16.6% damage, etc. So you can see that going from 0 to 100 prots halves the amount of damage you take, meaning that flat pen and protections are more valuable the less you have. Against an adc with 70 protections, they will take 58.8% of incoming damage, but if the attacker has 30 flat pen, they will take 71.4% damage instead. If there is a guardian nearby giving them 30 prots from auras, they will take 50% damage instead of 58.3%. However, if a tank has 250 , 30 flat pen will increase their damage taken from 28.6% to 31.2%, a much smaller increase, and 30 extra prots will only increase it to 26.3% damage taken.

I think of it as every 100 armor gives you an extra health bar.
