Well I wouldn't label old new era if i didn't recommend the era of the band. For me they are still a great band even tough I don't like Battles, Siren's Charms and Playground. Their discography until than was all i wanted in metal, melody, meaning, and powerful vocals. The last 3 albums weren't my taste but i respect the move to the new sound an artist should express himself or in this case as a band. It surely breaks the monotony of metal and the generic sound that people often go to. I mean modern death metal is really all the same between artists with few exceptions. The point here is don't hate the band if they make this choice, accept it and move on, elitist and generic metal bands will eventually make this genre die out...

so to add some clarity here ;), In Flames is a whole other band than what it was in the early nineties, there isn't one original member of the band left, and the last one left a long time ago, the founders and original members mad the two Death albums, lunar strain and subterranean, then new members came and so In flames as most of you know it was another band ~25 years ago...
