  • In the middle of another August heat wave, we backpacked the South Olympic Coast from the Oil City Trailhead to Mosquito Creek, crossing the Diamond Rock restriction with a 2' tide. We stayed the night before at the Cottonwood Campground in the Olympic National forest, then started the trail at about 9 am. The ladder up from Jefferson Cove up to Hoh Head was super sketchy! There was a lot of erosion, countless log crossings, and tons of "adventures" along the way. We hiked about 14 miles total by the end, with just one night on the trail.
