Backpacking the South Olympic Coast - Oil City to Mosquito Creek | Olympic National Park

In the middle of another August heat wave, we backpacked the South Olympic Coast from the Oil City Trailhead to Mosquito Creek, crossing the Diamond Rock restriction with a 2' tide. We stayed the night before at the Cottonwood Campground in the Olympic National forest, then started the trail at about 9 am. The ladder up from Jefferson Cove up to Hoh Head was super sketchy! There was a lot of erosion, countless log crossings, and tons of "adventures" along the way. We hiked about 14 miles total by the end, with just one night on the trail.
