I saw this show in Boston... Awesome show... David is superb... went a bit quiet but he's back putting stuff out again.. seen Plini 5 times since this.....
i was at this show and i saw you recording it and i thought to myself, "man, i'm gonna have to find that video on youtube later..." good job, man. thanks for putting it up.
Kris Gilstrap Ayyee! It was too good of a lineup not to encapsulate it. You were among the brave ones that weren't deterred by the hurricane. So worth it!
Plini's hands just glide over the guitar, like he's playing but somehow not actually touching it. That's an unreal level of sensitivity and talent. Those fingers are priceless.
NJ's expressive playing is just unbelievable. I don't understand how he has so much character and personality. He's so dextrous with his guitar, it looks like it's just like talking for him.
IMPOSSIBLE to choose one. The three of them are EARGASM! this is MUSIC not unnecesary guitar wankery. Props to that drummer please! three artists (and their catalogue..) in a row!
Plini eats every single guitarist ALIVE. His level of expressivity & fluidity it´s SURREAL. Props to Troy too. That drummer has born with his instrument under the bed LOL. well...Plini too!
Brazil! The only band in this style that passed through here was Animals As Leaders, a night only in São Paulo. I saw their gig, it was amazing. But Plini is my all-time favorite, I would give whatever it takes to see him playing a single song in my country.
Gus Souza I feel you. I waited a while for Plini to come to Houston where I've lived most of my life. I was born in Costa Rica. I'm sure he'll eventually make it down to you guys down there. Who did Animals play with while they were down there?
My brother and I were fortunate enough to see them in Richmond, VA and Detroit MI. We had Masterclass Tickets for the Detroit show and were front and center at both shows. It was one of the most memorable times of my life! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to relive the experience!
Yep! They were like absolutely insane.. Can't wait to see Aaron Marshall along with Nick and Polyphia this November... Hope they'll do some jamming too :D
Steve Vai just posted about Plini, that's what made me seek him out. Each musician is top notch.I just became a fan of all .Maybe Steve Vai will invite one or all of them to play on the next Generation Axe tour. These guys should be more well known. This video is so perfect. Thanks man.Great sound
Just saw the Portland, OR leg of this tour at Lola's Room(Crystal Ballroom)...absolutely stunning and SO happy to find this upload today. Thank you, Gabe!!! Thank you.
It's so bloody hard to come by a Nick Johnston's all-live perfomance. He urges us to play live, but live with backing tracks doesn't quite cut it for me. Next stop- Nick Johnston Trio ( roll over, The Aristocrats! Oh, just playing :)
I was covering Hurricane Harvey in the news in Corpus Christi that very night. Harvey probably made landfall around San Jose Island, or maybe moved into Rockport, by the time David Maxim Micic went on. This is so wild to see, comparing it to what I was doing at that very minute, and knowing what happened in Houston soon after. It's crazy. So awesome to see these amazing musicians playing together, so close to home, during such an insane time. I'd love to hear their stories.
The first song in Nick Johnston's set is "Remarkably Human", not "Ignore Alien Orders". (though the voice over is from the start of "Ignore Alien Orders")
I've seen several videos of this guy and the overwhelming vibe that he gives off is that he's bored out of his mind and could do it in his sleep. It might be the case that after being on tour for a long time he's bored and could play these songs in his sleep, but who gives a fuck? That's his problem. He has a club or a concert hall full of people who paid to see him not just play, but perform. During the intro to his one well known song he's leaning over chatting and laughing with his guitar player completely disconnected from the song and his audience, phoning it in. His audience is thinking to themselves, "oh great, that song that I love" and he could not care less. Think about all of the musicians still touring who had big actual hits long before Mr. Plini was even born, who've done 30 or 40 world tours since then, played those hits 150 times a year every year, and who still go out and give it their all for their audience. When they were lucky enough to get their first headline tour in the 60s or 70s or 80s they damned sure went out and sold it, which is why they're still touring. This guy will never get beyond a niche audience and podunk clubs, unless he figures out how to pull his spoiled head out of his ass. His drummer is selling it and taking it seriously, he could take a lesson from him.

This is AMAZING! Nick Johnston and Plini have literally shaped, again, my view of the heights of Guitar Mastery... Wow.
They are legends in the making for sure!
David Maxim's music is incredible simple, is oustanding the way he uses only a few notes to make me close my eyes and trip.
Gus Souza Exactly! He knows how to be tasteful and understands when and how to articulate/elaborate an idea and when less is more.
I'm so eager for them to come to my country. One day, I believe they will come haha
Gus Souza What is your country?

53:52 Waaait a second.. this dude is from Destiny Potato right? Great band.
Definitely!
Great performances!
Too bad Nick didn't play any from his previous album, really wanted to hear "Last Deals Of Dead Men" live
+Trojanushi I felt the same way about David. I wanted him to play his Bilo stuff.
The first song in Nick Johnston's set is "Remarkably Human", not "Ignore Alien Orders". (though the voice over is from the start of "Ignore Alien Orders")
Javier Gonzalez Nicolini Thanks for catching that. I'll edit it right now.
1:25:55 The first piece of real music on this video.
Future is here...
Does anyone know what film that sample at the beginning is from?
Gavin Hislop I'd like to know too 🤔
Who is the other guitarist playing with Plini?... besides David Maxim and NIck Johnston...
that hook from 10:15 ! :D niiiice
21:42 a hypergiant Nick Johnston
Felipe Justino 😂
These guys sure know how to create a vibe
😎😎😎😎😎
I screamed "Moonflower"
The camera often doesn't even notice who's playing.
And all while a fucking hurricane was raging outside.
Who is the other guitarist playing with Plini?
Chase Whiteside That's Jake Howsam from The Helix Nebula.
The Helix Nebula = great band
SuperCharleh Indeed!
Isn't he talking about when David and Plini had the duet? Not Jake.
Tyson Leaf Not sure, bro.
Could someone please tell me the name of the songs played by nick johnston?
itzRiham They're in the description.
Awesome! thank you !!
itzRiham No problem ✌️
Nah bro - this was a Simon Grove and friends gig hahaha
