Thanks Texas Beek. The wife went a little nuts on the bulb purchase this year. lol If the queen is any good, they should get going pretty quick. If she's mediocre, they will limp along. Happy Easter to you too.
Those top entrances , seem to be overlooked by many a beekeeper from time to time. Have a Happy Easter. :) oh my 1st of 4 nucs finally got here, here is to 5mo of bee videos, time to see what I learned from you all. :) Blessed Days...
Mug up at the homestead. Top of the morning to you all. Love seeing the flower beds, still grey stick season here in central NH. Any day now, fields just greening up. Bees are bringing in multiple colors of pollen. Mowing and Morels coming up.😃 Thanks for sharing, take care.
Good morning Lamb Brook. Your grey sticks will be gone before long. Yeah, mowing is in my near future. We find a few morels on our east side. Have a Happy Easter 🐣🐇.
Darren, I’ve about decided that when you put a frame of bees with brood or resources in another hive that the recipient hive realizes it’s help for the colony and doesn’t fight like they would do with drift bees. Even the drift bees are let in if they have a load of nectar or pollen. I could be wrong, if so it wouldn’t be my first time! Show me a beekeeper that says he’s never been wrong and I’ll show you a liar. lol 😂 If you’ve tried keeping bees, you’ve made mistakes. Please tell Mrs Jerome she has some beautiful flowers!
Hey Don. Yeah, I messed that one up pretty good, and it was such a little thing. Getting in a hurry will do it to me every time. I used to fret over combining frames like that and I would drench and smoke them. Now, they just get stuck together, bada bing, no worries. lol Yeah, she did great on those bulbs. You can sure tell which ones were done after her accident, they didn't turn out near as good. They got planted too late. Now she's getting shoulder surgery, injured in the same fall.
If you have some hives that are getting close to swarming in the near future you could add another couple of frames of brood to that little hive. I don't like small weak hive - make them strong or don't have them. Not worth the bother. Last year I took 5 frames of brood and bees from two strong hives and added it to a split with 3 frames of brood and I had to add a honey super within 3 weeks.
Hi Russell. I don't know if that queen is worthy of all that as of yet. If she's any good, she will lay up a couple frames now. Time will tell. That location has historically not been good. Probably just a coincedence.
Hi Jeff. Yeah, they could have used it. I just hated to take another frame of brood out of that nice hive there that looks to be a honey producer. Have a happy Easter.
Great….the only thing I would have did different would have been putting both frames in the weak hive….bees and brood….that hive will struggle without a big boost….
When you are adding brood frames to a weak colony, get rid of the drone brood because they are a major tax on a weak colony and not needed. Or find brood comb without drones if you want keep them.
As weak as that hive is a smart drone would find a different hive to get fed, ?? I agree with you, I would have scraped the drone off also. If it was on a strong hive I wouldn't unless it was in the way or a hive I didn't want drones from.
I thought about scraping that off, and didn't want to disturb those nurse bees on there, so I left it. In hindsight, I should have put the frame in that I shook off and took the drone one back.
Jerome do you ever use anti-robber screen entrances? Last summer I had several hives and new split Nucs that were robbed hard. We spent $10 a piece and picked up the "Ultimate Bee Hive Robbing Screen". I know you can build your own but I was wonder your thoughts?
Y'all have some nice flowers there! Bees looking great. Hopefully that boost will help them out. Have a Happy Easter

Good job! Though I would have put two brood frames in instead of just one frame.

สวัสดีครับ
They need a boost of bees, so I would suggest that a nuc and a frame of bees for now. she needs a lota help.
Hey Bloke. They got a decent boost. It's up to the queen now.
@@JeromeBeeFarm Yeah as per usual I went off half cocked and you fixed it later in the clip thanks for responding buddy.
lol, no worries. Happy Easter to you.

Hi Mike. Yes I do. I have a couple ten frame size and a couple nuc ones. $10 is a good deal sounds like to me.
Ooops. David UK.
Oops are usually the best lessons to learn from. Unfortunately. lol. Take care.
Good Job 🤡
Thanks Richard. Happy Easter!
