I know that many of you may have tried different techniques to get fairer skin/to lighten your skin.
You may have tried creams, face packs, or even home remedies like applying a paste of gram flour and milk or tomato juice on your face. While these methods may have worked for some of you, a few of you are probably looking for other treatment options.
While people abroad, especially in the West, want to get tanned, people in India want to get fairer. Which is why people try many different things to achieve this. The most common thing that people try is using fairness creams. Fairness creams are really popular in India. But fairness creams cannot permanently alter your skin color.
More importantly, fair skin is not equal to healthy, clear, or better skin. As a dermatologist, today I will tell you an important thing - you should focus your attempts on keeping your skin healthy.
Genetics also plays a role in determining our skin color. Your skin color will be similar to your parents’ skin color. All of us have the same number of melanocytes or pigment cells. The higher the melanin, the darker is your skin.
Other factors that contribute to your skin tone are your lifestyle, what type of protection you use from the sun, and which sunscreen products you use.
So we should focus on maintaining our hormonal balance and reducing and removing tanned skin. So as we just discussed, you can treat pigmentation and related darkening or dark spots and restore your original complexion. But a lot of us who have dark skin complexions try to lighten our skin by using fairness creams, but they don’t always work.
In fact, most of these fairness creams are not medically tested and are just advertising gimmicks.
So my suggestion/advice to you would be to avoid using fairness creams. And don’t believe information unless they are from authentic sources.
A lot of you try home remedies that promise to lighten your skin in 2 days, 5 days or 15 days! But these home remedies may not show results for everyone and totally depends on your skin type.
Moreover, these home remedies are not scientifically proven and there is no proof that they work.
There are several medical treatments to remove the tan that will not harm or damage your skin.
You can apply topical creams or get procedures like chemical peels, Q switch nd Yag laser 1064 or picosure laser treatment, and light therapies IPL done.
I just want to stress the fact that you can reduce pigmentation and lighten your skin but you cannot change your genetic complexion.
Tips :
Tip 1 is to have a healthy and balanced diet.
Tip 2 is getting regular exercise.
Tip 3 is to use an SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from UVA, UVB and infrared rays.
Tip 4 is to always keep your skin hydrated and moisturized to prevent it from drying out and looking dull and lifeless.
Tip 5 is to avoid oily and junk food in excess to maintain overall as well as skin health.
Tip 6 is to drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated from within, which is something we often forget,
Tip 7 is to wash your face twice a day and cleanse it.
Tip 8 is to stay away from unknown and untrustworthy products for your skin.

Sir, whenever I used facial masks for de tanning like lemon face pack on daily basis I end up having one or two pimples after 4 or 5 days of regular use..is this pimple appearing because of the daily use of face packs or any other reason???
