In 1974, I had a vivid nightmare in full color and sound. I was in a log cabin by a huge lake (like Lake Ontario or Lake Superior). A storm with rain and wind caused the water to rise up to the level of the window sills and start pouring in. There was no door and the windows were too short for me to scramble out. Just as I the water came up to my knees and I was CERTAIN that I was going to drown, I was screaming for help (praying?). The rain stopped, the wind changed direction, the water receded back into the lake. The land between the cabin and the lake was bone dry. All the storm clouds disappeared, and a beautiful RAINBOW appeared in the blue sky over the lake. I didn't know it at the time, but this was a prophesy that is still playing out. Over the decades, my life went downhill because of poor decisions that I won't bore you with. A couple of times, I had a 45 in my hand, seriously contemplating suicide. Once, I had the muzzle against my temple, but chickened out because I'd heard stories of unsuccessful suicide turning people into mindless vegetables. About 35 years ago, 1st marriage of 25 years was on the rocks. I went to family counseling for 1 year (I went 70 times, wife - 3 times, daughter - 1 time.) I told the Doctor about suicidal thoughts and onto Prozac I go (saved my life). Wife and daughter didn't care enough to go to FAMILY counseling. I couldn't keep the family of 3 together by myself, but I no longer gave a s*it (Prozac). I left the family in Calif, got a casino job in Reno, and 4 months later I asked wife for divorce. She now wanted me back, stalled for a year, but finally gave me the divorce. Never had contact with ex or daughter again. I was on Prozac for 18 months, weaned myself off gradually. No more suicidal thoughts. Now, I'm 80 year old retired dude, remarried for 30 years to 80 year old wife who has always been negative, unhappy, screams at me at the drop of a hat. She's determined to stay that way by reinforcing her negativity by watching and getting emotionally invested in TV news about crime, war, poverty, politics. A couple of years ago, I gently suggested watching less news, more comedy. Her screaming went on for hours while I stayed silent and retreated to the bedroom to watch comedy on TV. This has occurred so often that we're now two old folks living in the same apartment who don't like each other very much and talk only when necessary. My interpretation about the RAINBOW in my 1974 dream: (NOTE: I'm Agnostic or Atheist, don't know which) In Old Testament, the rainbow first appeared after the rains of the Great Flood stopped. It was a sign from the Creator that the Storm was over, SO LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! I now know that my happiness depends on what thoughts I allow to bounce around inside my head. Therefore, I intentionally think happy thoughts (or forgiving thoughts) no matter what anybody else thinks, says, or does. I stay unemotional to news of crime, war, poverty, politics. I watch the LOCAL news for 1/2 hour, change the channel, and then laugh my ass off at hilarious shows on TV, TH-cam, etc. I hope that in my next incarnation, my subconscious mind remembers the bitter lessons I learned this time around. I recommend you read about "Epicureanism Philosophy". I wish I had followed the advice given in these songs: "We'll Sing in the Sunshine" by Gail Garnett. "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman" by Dr. Hook Your Mileage May Vary.
