That penalty was correctly given. The one South Africa was claiming was never going to be given because the Nigerian goalkeeper had already caught the ball firmly.
I personally blame the NFF for poor coverage of the first leg BUT that wasn't because they wanted to be dubious on the pitch. The Referee was not biased. For some South African folks to say that the penalty was awarded close to half time is quite absurd. Are they claiming foul play? When South Africa won in Lagos during an invitational tournament they didn't talk about foul play.
The second leg will determine who qualifies for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Let's believe that the Referee will be fair and not allow pressure from the fans in the Stadium to be tricked into awarding penalties for just any touch in the 18 yard box. May the better team qualify.
I doubt if they watched the real highlight of the match. Otherwise, they won't be saying South Africa will beat Nigeria. I saw a highlight one of their media houses posted, and I laughed. The referee actually favoured South Africa; otherwise, a South African player should have gotten a red card when she fouled from behind on a goal-bound play. If this was a facebody, I could have posted the clean image highlights.

The grass was cut, but the pitch should have been watered. It was bumpy because of the dryness. The game should have been played in Uyo, where NPFL games are regularly played. Hardly anyone used the Abuja stadium. Besides, Abuja people are not really soccer fans. It's mainly civil servants and rich elite that would rather watch TV.
