All of us in this world should be grateful to farmers, without them there would be no food for humanity. You can have all the money of the world, but with no food, it means nothing at all. Loved this movie. Greetings from Panama.
Love how every one no matter how poor always reached out and helped those in need, Times are just as financially hard again but not so when it comes to helping those needing a hand up. Loved the movie.
I am not sure of your age, but life back then was very difficult for many people and if you’re not old enough to have been around to see it with your own eyes you can’t understand how hard it really was for people back then, there was both good and bad people and everyone had to work hard for life in those days just to survive and there was both unjust and justice for everyone in reality and it’s still like that today but sometimes people just don’t see it like they did back then and the simple truth is that God in charge and what happens in life is the choices we make and live by!!
Sorry man but no..my grandparents who were born in the 1920s..they were wonderful people that generation was better people and much less evil in the world

Regardless of what WE want and try to plan, in my life GOD seems to have HIS own plan. I’ve given up every dream I had, cause GOD doesn’t want me to have those dreams.
I did not live in this era, but my mother did. Her parents owned a farm in west Texas. They were always hard workers and good people. Life was much simpler. A person's word or a hand shake was everything.
Awesome movie. So good you didn’t want it to end. I love love love the movie where families were always together. Helping those in need. Like I remember when I was a child. Wish people stilled lived that way. Families together and helping others is good for the heart and soul.

The life of a farmer is really hard. Their crops depend on the weather and a lot of luck. Some years are so very hard. May God keep them and those who work for them.😢❤❤
This is my second time watching this movie and I have to say now I know how hard my grandparents lifr was back then. There love for God and the family never changed though ❤️ 🙏 💕.
Thanks for a great movie. This is the second time I’ve seen it and you always say something that you don’t remember the first time and Hank he really had a mean bone in his body and you reap what you sow. Thanks for a good movie.❤😊
Is there a part 2 ? Would be nice to know if Ricky made it home , and if Hanks body was ever found , and what happened to cowboy and Hanks sister , can't remember right off her character name . This was a good movie about struggles , indifference , and pulling together when things don't go right .
Great acting & directing. Fantastic movie based on a Great book; John Grisham's best non-legal novel, "The Painted House". It was the Southern Millionaire Cotton Plantation owners who forced the South into the Civil War. Abolition allowed former slaves to abandon the harsh life of cotton picking; whites refused slave wages & harsh conditions. Spiraling prices encouraged owners to offer better wages & conditions. However, before that happened, USA tried to satisfy labor needs in a manner of great shame attributed to the State Dept & Immigration enticing mass migration of Italian families with lies of promised opportunities working the Cotton Fields. Fooled into tenant farming forced them into great debt. They were required to obtain all their needs through the land owner; farm equipment, seed, transportation... The Italian families also abandoned the farms & moved to the cities.

I went with my fiance to stay with his grandfather in Tucumcari, New Mexico for Christmas in the early 1990s. I had already been shown around the house which had a bathroom. Then Grandad returned from work, and he told me the bathroom was outside in a separate building. He wanted to tease me. I looked really worried because I had already seen the bathroom. I didn't know what he meant, and I was nervous because I wanted to make a good impression. He started laughing, thinking I was worried about using a bathroom that wasn't in the house. It wasn't true, but I figured he was happy he thought he'd successfully pulled his prank. I guess some people who work on farms and ranches think people from other places are like the woman in this movie. I took a trip to Italy and went to the bathroom in a hole in the ground with flies all around me. No outdoor bathroom would scare me. 😂
Looking at the "front page image" for this movie, the actor who plays the grandfather, looks exactly like the actor who played Quinn in "The Seventh Stream"....does anyone in these Comments happen to know if it is him? Very unique face.
