What type of rear end and set up. Mine won't hook at all. 81 monte 383 pro1 215cc heads all howards roller .603i,.618e using 1.6rr, powerglide with transbrake 3500 stall, 3 step with 411, locker and moser axles. 2.5 on the pinion angle and 29 in slicks. It just eats them off. In the process of starting a rear axle swap to a 9 inch due to the gm 7.5 pinion bearing causing some major thrust wear on my crank (not converter balooning). Just got it back from Ohio Crankshaft. They do excellent crankshaft repair with a mirror finish and 100 percent spot on tolerances. Anyways is your car completely refabbed at the rear end or adjustable arms with aftermarket springs, coilovers? I just don't see how anyone can get these cars to hook. My previous car was an 81 malibu that I'd spent 1800 on the 7.5 with a stought 327 that also didn't hook though I never put slicks on it.
So obviously in this video it’s not hooking up because it was cold out and it was on the street. But the car hooks perfect at the track and the drag radials are lowered to about 12 pounds. Completely stock suspension except for it’s lowered 2 inches. Has super cheap drag shocks from Summit no front sway bar.
Might be a crazy question here but im doing a similar set-up , and debating on a lockup kit for 4th. Whats your advice? Do you use a lockup? Im using comp 12-460-8 roller cam and 3000 stall converter.
Hey what’s up John. What trans do you have ? The 200-4r? Or are you running a 3spd w a lockup conv? In the last 12 years I’ve blown up six overdrive transmission’s. So I finally just put in a built turbo 400, With a custom nitrous tour converter that is about a 3000 stall. So I do not use a lock up anymore.
BAD ASS!!!! 🤩
Love it.
